UPC: 749193016121.When In Our Music God Is Glorified is an arrangement of the tune Engelberg that may be played by handbells alone, or in conjunction with organ, brass, timpani, SATB choir, and congregation. This glorious festival hymn arrangement begins with a fanfare introduction, followed by a straightforward setting of the first verse sung in unison. The second verse features the choir in four parts, accompanied by the bells and organ only. The brass and timpani join in on the third verse, which features a malleted or plucked bass line in the handbells, creating a march-like feel. A fanfare interlude precedes the majestic fourth verse, which features a soaring soprano descant, and a brief choral Amen concludes the arrangement. This hymn arrangement is perfect for worship, concert, or festival use.

This is an outstandingly atmospheric piece of music, the final part of Holst's choral work 'Ode to Death'. Holst composed this work in response to the First World War. He dedicated it to his musical friend Cecil Coles and "the others" who were killed in that war. The breath-takingly beautiful tune is supported by other-worldly harmonies and an unusual 7/4 rhythm to create music of immense presence. It works really beautifully on the organ: a wonderful piece for recitals, meditative services, remembrance or to play on your own for the sheer reward offered by this exceptional music. Also a great piece for demonstrating different solos and effects of the organ, including a great outlet for the Vox Humana, solo Flute and quiet Strings. Even bells, if you're lucky enough to have a set on your instrument!

Over the past couple of years I have written a number of film music transcriptions on and for the organ of the Royal Albert Hall in London. While the transcriptions are written with this organ in mind, often calling for specific colours such as the bass drum, carillons or tubular bells, they are adaptable on a number of different instruments and I’ve loved tweaking them in order to play them on organs all across the world. I hope you enjoy playing them as much as I’ve enjoyed writing them! We all have those pieces of music that have a strong, almost formative, childhood memory associated with them, and Chevaliers De Sangreal is one of those pieces for me. I vividly remember watching the film for the first time with my family, hearing the music and feeling an incredible emotional response to it. I wanted to work out how the music worked, so I sat in bed with a torch and manuscript paper, writing out the harmony, and trying to understand how Hans Zimmer achieved such emotion through repetition and orchestration. Also known as Luther's Cradle Hymn (tune Mueller), this American Christmas carol melody is much admired. This new arrangement for organ sees the melody in the right hand with gentle 'cradle rocking' left hand 8th notes above the held pedal notes anchoring the slow moving harmony. The end result is a gentle, reflective and musically satisfying arrangement of a much loved Christmas carol. Use an expressive 8' stop to solo the melody and balance it against an open 8' flute (or 8' and 4' flutes if the 8' is too quiet). Couple the left hand to a quiet 16' Pedal stop. Over the past couple of years I have written a number of film music transcriptions on and for the organ of the Royal Albert Hall in London. While the transcriptions are written with this organ in mind, often calling for specific colours such as the bass drum, carillons or tubular bells, they are adaptable on a number of different instruments and I’ve loved tweaking them in order to play them on organs all across the world. I hope you enjoy playing them as much as I’ve enjoyed writing them! One of the soundtracks that I get asked to perform most regularly is Test Drive by John Powell. This is one of the earlier transcriptions I wrote, and I often use it as a piece to illustrate the difference between different organs. It’s quite useful to have one piece to use as a comparison point, so I post little videos of this wherever I’m playing to demonstrate how radically different the same piece of music can sound depending on the kind of instrument. For me, this piece feels like an instant serotonin boost. There is a great crescendo where you get to take the organ from relatively quiet to earth-shatteringly loud over the course of about 30 seconds, and I always say that playing that part feels a bit like flying a dragon! - Anna Lapwood

Published by Merula Music (A0.1151441). A contrapuntal fantasia based on the famous Advent melody Personent Hodie. After its initial presentation in the manuals, a fragment of accompanying counterpoint is turned into the subject for a lengthy fugue, while the motifs of the melody are continually hinted at. Eventually, the melody returns triumphantly and the ring bells ring refrain is heard for the first time, after which a fanfare leads to an opportunity for an improvised cadenza. The recording was made by Mark Swinton, organist of St Mary's, Warwick, who also gave the première performance on Advent Sunday, 2022.
