The 'Pastoral Symphony', which opens Part II of the Christmas Oratorio, sets the scene for the Evangelist's recitative which follows: 'Und es waren Hirten in derselben Gegend (And there were, in the same country, shepherds abiding in the fields)'. Here transcribed for solo organ, this was originally published in Bach Transcriptions for Organ.

The beautiful, Spiritual-like theme from the 2nd movement of Dvorak's 9th Symphony (aka "New World"). This setting for organ is based on the Largo melody, with some modifications to the original harmonies. Appropriate for intermediate players, and ideal for church, recital and concert.
