Brass Ensemble Trumpet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.955560 Composed by Roy Swanson. Christian,Contemporary. Score and parts. 13 pages. Runway Region Publications, LLC #6672597. Published by Runway Region Publications, LLC (A0.955560). Let your trumpet players shine with this new piece! The title comes from the Book of John, the first verse: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. A weaving of themes allows each performer to take on leadership roles in the piece, and the dynamic contrast really challenges the trumpet players to work together to get the maximum effect for performance.

Trumpet Quintet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1346879 Composed by Unknown. Arranged by Ander. Chamber,Christmas. 14 pages. Woods Only, Arrangements #931661. Published by Woods Only, Arrangements (A0.1346879). If you are looking for a sheet music of an arrangement of Joy to the World for Trumpet Quintet, then you will love this version that we made, which brings a new look to this classic Christmas carol. Joy to the World is one of the most famous and oldest Christian songs, written by the poet, preacher, theologian and pedagogue Isaac Watts in 1719, based on Psalm 98 of the Bible. The melody that we know today was adapted by the American composer Lowell Mason in 1848, from a work by George Frideric Handel. In this arrangement, we have some fun with the melody, changing rhythms, harmonies and counterpoints, to give a new and magical air to the song, but without losing the essence of the original work. This arrangement is perfect for use in any Christmas event, such as chamber music in recitals, concerts, public shows, or as teaching material and incentive for music students. You will be amazed by the beauty and creativity of this arrangement, which will delight everyone who listens. Do not waste time and get your sheet music of Joy to the World, and be part of the history of this wonderful song.

Trumpet Quintet - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1251245 Composed by Ludwig van…
(+)
Trumpet Quintet - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1251245 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Ander. 19th Century,Christmas,Classical,March,Romantic Period. 15 pages. Woods Only, Arrangements #845523. Published by Woods Only, Arrangements (A0.1251245). This arrangement adapted for trumpet quintet was designed to make its listeners weep with emotion, because the adaptation preserves the original essence of the work, keeping its integrity faithful to what Beethoven wanted to transmit, with only a slight change in tone and addition of harmonic resources in the structure of the arrangement. Even though it is a funeral march, it is well suited for any musical performance occasion, being intended for beginner students who want to immerse themselves in the universe of romantic music, and nothing better than starting with the transitional composer of this period, which also does not prevent professional teachers from using it for recitals, academic presentations or didactic material in their classes as an ensemble practice.Ludwig van Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 14 in C minor sharp, Op. 27, No. 2, is one of his most popular compositions and was an audience favorite even in his day. Written when Beethoven was 31, the Moonlight Sonata (Mondscheinsonate in German) was composed after he finished some commissioned works, but there is no evidence that he was hired to write this work. It did not receive its nickname until 1832, five years after Beethoven's death. It was the critic Ludwig Rellstab who compared the music to a moonlighting on Lake Lucerne. This comparison was adopted as a nickname for the work. Called Quasi una fantasia by the author - like its companion Op. 27, No. 1 - the piece was completed in 1801 and dedicated the following year to one of the composer's pupils. Beethoven chose to open the sonata with a slow, hypnotic arpeggio movement, the best known of the entire work. The dotted rhythm of its minimal melody evokes the tradition of 'Trauermusik' (funeral music).

Brass Ensemble Trumpet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.813837 Composed by Antonin Dvorak. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Contemporary,Folk,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and parts. 18 pages. Regis Bookshar #6533947. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813837). Largo (from Symphony No. 9 in E minor) (From the New World) (Db) (Trumpet Quintet) - Intermediate - Digital Download. This marvelous arrangement of the Largo, based on the second movement of Antonin Dvorak's Symphony No. 9 in E minor, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts, recitals and church services, especially Funerals, but would be appropriate any time during the church year. This arrangement is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (18 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from the The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time.Symphony No. 9 in E minor, Op. 95 (subtitled From the New World and popularly know as the New World Symphony), was composed by Antonin Dvorak in 1893 while he was the director of the National Conservatory of Music of America from 1892 to 1895. It premiered at Carnegie Hall in New York City on December 16, 1893 and has been described as one of the most popular of all symphonies. The second movement of the symphony, upon which this arrangement is based, is marked Largo, and begins with a harmonic progression of chords which is then followed by a solo instrument playing the famous main theme.Dvorak was interested in Native American music and the African-American spirituals he heard in North America. While director of the National Conservatory he encountered an African-American student, Harry T. Burleigh, who sang traditional spirituals to him. Burleigh, later a composer himself, said that Dvorak had absorbed their spirit before writing his own melodies. Dvorak stated:    I am convinced that the future music of this country must be founded on what are called Negro melodies. These can be the foundation of a serious and original school of composition to be developed in the United States. These beautiful and varied themes are the product of the soil. They are folk songs of America and your composers must turn to them.He further explained how Native American music influenced his symphony:  I have not actually used any of these (Native American) melodies. I have simply written original themes embodying the peculiarities of the Indian music, and, using these themes as subjects, have developed them with all the resources of modern rhythms, counterpoint, and orchestral colour. In 1893, a newspaper interview quoted Dvorak as saying, I found that the music of the negroes and of the Indians was practically identical, and that the music of the two races bore a remarkable similarity to the music of Scotland. Most historians agree that Dvorak is referring to the pentatonic scale, which is typical of each of these musical traditions.Dvorak was influenced not only by music he heard, but also by what he had seen, in America. He wrote that he would not have composed his American pieces as he had if he had not seen America. It has been said that Dvorak was inspired by the wide open spaces of America, such as the prairies he may have seen on his trip to Iowa in the summer of 1893. Notices about several performances of the symphony include the phrase wide open spaces about what inspired the symphony and/or about the feelings it conveys to listeners. The theme from the Largo was adapted into the spiritual Goin' Home (often mistakenly considered a folk song or traditional spiritual) by Dvorak's pupil, William Arms Fisher, who wrote the lyrics in 1922. Regis Bookshar thought it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, in addition to this version for a Trumpet Quintet, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection which are readily available for a wide variety of instrumental.

Trumpet Quintet - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1247199 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Ander. 19th Century,Classical,Film/TV,March,Romantic Period. 15 pages. Woods Only, Arrangements #841744. Published by Woods Only, Arrangements (A0.1247199). This arrangement adapted for trumpet quintet was written keeping the characteristics of the original work, in order to be performed by young music students who want to enter the symphonic music. Besides, it can also be used by professional musicians, for recitals, repertoire, academic presentations and didactic material. As much as it is a funeral march, it is well suited for any musical performance occasion. The transcription is faithful to the structure, with only one change of key, so that it is comfortable for all the instruments in the formation, as well as for use in ensemble practice between musicians of different traditions.Ludwig van Beethoven began concentrated work on his Symphony No. 7 in A major Op. 92 in 1811, it was completed in 1812, and was dedicated to Count Moritz von Fries, and premiered in Vienna on December 8, 1813. It is considered a remarkable example of the more ebullient side of Beethoven's compositional personality and evidence that even after the onset of deafness, he still found cause for musical optimism. The second movement Allegretto is a funeral march in everything but name. Often several contrasting melodic ideas are made to coexist, as if Beethoven were imagining several processions converging on the cemetery at the same time. As he was working on this symphony during the years of the Napoleonic Wars, this experience was probably within his experience. It was also used as the soundtrack to the film Knowing, by director Alex Proyas and starring Nicolas Cage, where it is used in the final scene of the film. Beethoven called Symphony No. 7 his most excellent symphony, and a music critic of the time reported, this symphony is the most melodically rich and the most pleasing and comprehensible of all Beethoven's symphonies..

Trumpet Quintet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1257391 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Baroque,Chamber,Christian,Easter,Historic. 29 pages. Regis Bookshar #850726. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1257391). Three selections based on Christ lag in Todesbanden (Christ lay in death's bonds) (from Cantata No.  4, BMV  4) - Johann Sebastian Bach - Trumpet Quintet - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download.Cantata No.  4, BMV  4, Christ lag in Todesbanden (also spelled Todes Banden) (Christ lay in death's bonds) is a cantata for Easter written by Johann Sebastian Bach and is his earliest surviving Church Cantata. It was probably written in 1707 when he was 22 years old. It is a Chorale Cantata, a style in which both the text and music are based on a hymn. In this instance, the source was Martin Luther's hymn of the same name which became a main Easter hymn in German Lutheranism.Regis Bookshar has transcribed and arranged three selections based on this hymn tune, two from Bach's Cantata No.  4, BMV  4, and also his Chorale Prelude, BMV 625. They may be played individually or as a trilogy and each movement gets more complex than the previous one. The first selection in this trilogy is the Chorale, Christ lag in Todesbanden, the final chorus from his Cantata No.  4, a straightforward four-part chorale setting of the hymn (Regis has also added a fifth part). This is followed by Bach's Chorale Prelude, BMV 625, a piece from his Orgelbuchlein (Little Organ Book), a collection of 46 Preludes for organ, written almost exclusively during the 1708-1717 period, while Bach was court organist at Weimar. For the final selection, Regis has placed the polyphonic and imitative chorus, Es war ein wunderlicher Krieg, da Tod und Leben rungen) (It was a strange battle, that death and life waged), which Bach had placed in the middle of his Cantata No.  4.This arrangement is for a Trumpet Quintet, consisting of 5 Bb Trumpets. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (29 pages).I hope you will enjoy playing these selections and please search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar. There are numerous selections in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. I think you will be pleased with what you may find.

Classical,Contest,Festival,Instructional,Multicultural,Romantic Period,World. Score and parts. 15 pages. Regis Bookshar #688050. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1083850). Coronation March, TH 50, CW 47 by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Trumpet Quintet - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download. This marvelous arrangement of Peter Tchaikovsky's Coronation March, sometimes called Festival March or Festival Coronation March, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts, recitals and other festive occasions. This arrangement keeps all of the intensity and excitement of the original composition and is suitable for high school and college students. Professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (15 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available to the public for the first time. The Coronation March was ordered by the city of Moscow for the coronation of Tsar Alexander III in 1883. It was written during March of 1883 and was performed for the first time on June 4, 1883 in Sokolniky Park in Moscow, conducted by Sergei Taneyev. The music then included excerpts of the anthem, God Save the Tsar. The American premiere was on May 5, 1891, for the opening concert of Carnegie Hall in New York City, conducted by Tchaikovsky himself. During the Soviet Era, Russian performances and recordings of the music were revised to omit the excerpts from the Czarist national anthem, replacing it with thematic material used earlier in the march, due to an official Soviet ban on the anthem. Starting with Dmitri Medvedev's inauguration in 2008, an abbreviated version of this piece is played during the Russian presidential inauguration accompanying the entrance of the incoming president, and ends well before the playing in this piece of the Tsarist anthem God Save the Tsar. Unlike Tchaikovsky's other major compositions, the Coronation March does not have an opus number. It has been given alternative catalogue designations TH 50 and CW 47. Tchaikovsky's Coronation March was originally scored for a full orchestra and written in the key of D Major. Regis Bookshar has now created an abbreviated version, written in Db Major, and has arranged it for a Trumpet Quintet, consisting of 5 Bb Trumpets. In addition to this arrangement of Tchaikovsky's Coronation March for a Trumpet Quintet, other arrangements of this festive composition for various instrumental ensembles are also available. Please feel free to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar as there are many more arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you as well, and please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I'm certain that this wonderful arrangement of Tchaikovsky's Coronation March will continue to entertain both audiences and performers alike for years to come.

This arrangement adapted for trumpet quintet was written keeping the characteristics of the original work, in order to be performed by young music students who want to enter the symphonic music. The transcription remains faithful to the structure, with only one change in tone, so that it is comfortable for all the instruments in the formation, as well as being used as an activity in ensemble practice among musicians of different traditions.Beethoven's Turkish March (Op. 113) is the 4th movement of the operatic work: The Ruins of Athens, a set of incidental pieces written in 1812 by Ludwig van Beethoven, where the melody was originally written in 1809 as Theme with Six Variations for Piano, Op. 76. The work was written to accompany the play of the same name by August von Kotzebue, for the dedication of a new theater in Pest. Perhaps the best known part of the composition is the Marcia alla turca, In Latin America, this movement became known in Jean-Jacques Perrey's version (who titled it The Elephant never Forgets) since it was used as the opening theme of the successful Mexican TV comedy El Chavo del Ocho. The opening and the turkish march are often performed separately, and the other pieces in this set are not often heard.

Trumpet Quintet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1255015 Composed by Luigi Boccherini. Arranged by Ander. Baroque,Classical,Instructional,Traditional,Wedding. 8 pages. Woods Only, Arrangements #848604. Published by Woods Only, Arrangements (A0.1255015). This simple arrangement adapted for trumpet quintet was imagined for a group of beginner students who want to start their immersion in classical music, of course with the help of a teacher. Even though the original work is for strings, this did not prevent this beautiful adaptation, where the original essence of the work was maintained, being made only an adaptation of the tonality and some adaptations in the tessitura of the instruments. This piece can be used for professional and academic recitals, didactic material and repertoire for ensemble practice as well, which does not prevent professional musicians and instructors from using it for performances of their preference.Luigi Boccherini was born in the city of Lucca, in northern Italy. He studied cello and became a virtuoso who eventually moved to Spain, where he worked with the Spanish royal family for the rest of his life. His String Quintet in E major, Op. 11, No. 5, G 275, was written in 1771 and published in 1775, and is one of his most famous works. The quintet is famous for its minuet and trio, third movement which is often played as an independent piece outside the context of the full quintet. This is notably the most famous, it is in 3/4 time, in the key of E Major modulating to A Major. This is a beautiful work, and not just the third movement, with good partial writing for all. The lovely, flowing melodies and rhythms are typical of Boccherini. The quintet is suitable for both concerts and home performances.

Goin' Home (Going Home) for Trumpet Ensemble arranged by Jari Villanueva 6 Trumpets and Flugelhorn Goin' Home, is based on the Czech composer Antonin Dvorak's famous Largo theme from his Symphony No. 9 (5) (From the New World), Op. 95. His symphony was composed while he was in America and was first performed by the New York Philharmonic at Carnegie Hall on December 16, 1893. It has been said that Dvorak's themes in his symphony were inspired by American folk melodies, especially Afro-American or American Indian. But his themes are just as similar to Bohemian folk music and most likely from that music. This arrangement is based on the one played in the movie Clear and Present Danger by the United States Air Force Band. It has been used at presidential funerals for the departure ceremonies at Andrews Air Force Base for Presidents Reagan and Ford and was used in 1998 for the dis-interment ceremony for the Vietnam Unknown at Arlington National Cemetery. It is still used today by military bands at Arlington.

Trumpet Ensemble Trumpet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1111398 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Chamber,Christian,Classical,Instructional,Religious. 28 pages. Regis Bookshar #713686. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1111398). Recordare (from Requiem (K. 626) - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart/Franz Xaver Sussmayr - Trumpet Sextet - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download. Hauntingly beautiful is how the Recordare from Mozart's Requiem is often described. Originally written for an orchestra and four vocal soloists, it has now been transcribed by Regis Bookshar for a Trumpet Sextet and would be a wonderful addition to any music library. This arrangement will provide students with the opportunity to practice breath control because of its long, sustained phrases, and also to give them the chance to play this beautiful composition, something which they may not have had the opportunity to do, otherwise. This selection could be performed for concerts, recitals and church services and is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this arrangement. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (28 pages). The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble has performed the Trumpet Quintet version of the Recordare for funerals, providing beautiful, introspective music for the occasion. There is some controversy surrounding the circumstances of the Requiem's composition because Mozart died before he could complete it. Count Franz von Walsegg had commissioned a Requiem Mass but Mozart had received only half of the payment in advance. So, upon his death on December 5th, 1791, his widow, Constanze, wished to have the work completed secretly by someone else and submit it to the count as having been completed by Mozart to collect the final payment. Joseph von Eybler was one of the first composers to be asked to complete the score and had worked on a number of movements but felt unable to complete the remainder and gave the manuscript back to Constanze Mozart. The task was then given to another composer, Franz Xaver Sussmayr. Sussmayr borrowed some of Eybler's work in making his completion, added his own orchestration to other movements and added several new movements which a Requiem Mass would normally comprise. He then added a final section by adapting the opening two movements which Mozart had written to the different words which finish the Requiem Mass, which according to both Sussmayr and Mozart's wife, was done according to Mozart's directions. The completed score, initially by Mozart but largely finished by Sussmayr, was then dispatched to Count Walsegg complete with a counterfeited signature of Mozart dated 1792. Despite the controversy over how much of the music is actually Mozart's, the commonly performed Sussmayr version has become widely accepted by the public, and is considered one of Mozart's finest compositions. The Recordare is considered by many people to be one of the most beautiful compositions in Mozart's entire catalogue. Regis Bookshar, a trumpet player, has performed the Requiem in concert with a full orchestra, soloists and a chorus and felt that other musicians should have the opportunity to play the hauntingly beautiful Recordare as well. So, in addition to this arrangement for a Trumpet Sextet, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this beautiful composition. There are Quintets, Sextets, Septets and Octets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. Regis Bookshar, a trumpet player, has performed the Requiem in concert with a full orchestra, soloists and a chorus and felt that other musicians should have the opportunity to play the hauntingly beautiful Recordare as well. So, in addition to this arrangement for a Trumpet Octet, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this beautiful composition. There are Quintets, Sextets, Septets and Octets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may fine something else which may also suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I'm certain that this beautiful arrangement of Mozart's Recordare, will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come.

Trumpet Quintet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1108395 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Chamber,Christian,Classical,Instructional,Religious. 25 pages. Regis Bookshar #711037. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1108395). Recordare (from Requiem (K. 626) - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart/Franz Xaver Sussmayr - Trumpet Quintet - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download. Hauntingly beautiful is how the Recordare from Mozart's Requiem is often described. Originally written for an orchestra and four vocal soloists, it has now been transcribed by Regis Bookshar for a Trumpet Quintet and would be a wonderful addition to any music library. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (25 pages). The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble has performed this Trumpet Quintet version of the Recordare for funerals, providing beautiful, introspective music for the occasion. Brass Ensemble Trumpet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.894407 Composed by Daniel Butterfield. Arranged by Zack Richards. Contemporary,Folk,Holiday,Patriotic. Score and parts. 17 pages. Zack Richards #5754059. Published by Zack Richards (A0.894407). Taps has always been near and dear to me for almost as long as I've played the Trumpet. I have played it more times than I can count. I was the Bugler for our local Boy Scout troop, playing Taps at many campouts and events to signal the end of the day. I also played it with our High School Marching Band for Memorial Day services, including an incredibly special one at my grandfather's gravesite shortly after his passing. He had served in the Army during World War II. I also played it for several funerals, including my Uncle's, who had served in the Marines. For some time, I had volunteered for our local VFW to play for Veteran's funerals. My High School Trumpet teacher and numerous other people in my life are Veterans and have made a huge impact on me. I decided to write this arrangement to give tribute to those and all Veterans and Service Members. It is also a way of helping the Echo Taps Worldwide cause. Echo Taps Worldwide was first done on May 19, 2007, in recognition of Armed Forces Day at National Cemeteries, State Veterans Cemeteries and American Battle Monuments Cemeteries overseas. The idea is that at gatherings across the world on Armed Forces Day, Buglers play Taps in succession, with one beginning as the previous ends, to honor those who have sacrificed so much. I was fortunate to play as a part of this during Armed Forces Day celebrations in Ashtabula for several years. The intention is also to bring attention to the dire need for buglers to play for Veteran's funerals across the world. If you can, please look into volunteering for your local organizations to play Taps. From Thomas Day, a Marine veteran who founded Bugles Across America in 2000, A live bugler performing Taps is an expression of the Nation’s appreciation for the service of each veteran...With more than 600,000 veterans dying each year, we are always looking for new volunteers to perform this valuable service. All of these works are available individually or all together in my United We Stand Collection at a considerable discount.S0.1059689 United We Stand Collection Zack Richards Music Minus One SeriesEach of these works for Trumpet Ensemble also have a corresponding arrangement for Solo Trumpet with an mp3 accompaniment track in my Zack Richards Music Minus One Series.S0.1059735 Echo Taps for Solo TrumpetS0.1059689 United We Stand Collection Zack Richards Music Minus One SeriesTrumpet Ensemble5-10 B-flat TrumpetsIntermediateApprox. 2:30Visit zackrichards.com for more from this composer!

This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time.Away in a Manger is one of the most popular Christmas carols and there are a number of musical settings of it. The most popular musical setting of it in the United States is the tune commonly known as Mueller. It was composed by James R. Murray and was first published under the name Luther's Cradle Hymn, in his collection Dainty Songs for Little Lads and Lasses, in 1887. It was intended for use in kindergarten, school and home.In this selection, Regis Bookshar has arranged three verses of this popular Christmas carol for a Trumpet Quintet. The first verse is a traditional setting of the tune while the second verse has a more complex accompaniment. The third verse also includes a descant. Between the second and third verses, he has included a short interlude. In addition to this arrangement for a Trumpet Quintet, there are also other Quintet arrangements of Away in a Manger for a variety of instrumental ensembles, as well as quite a few other Christmas selections, readily available for purchase. Brass Ensemble Trumpet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.813911 Composed by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Christmas,Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and parts. 9 pages. Regis Bookshar #6612945. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813911). Trumpet Quintet - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download. This marvelous arrangement of the Russian Dance (Trepak), from Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky's extremely popular, The Nutcracker Suite, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts and recitals but would be most appropriate during the Holiday season. This selection has been arranged to keep all of the intensity and excitement of the original composition and is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (9 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time. The Nutcracker is an 1892 two-act ballet with a score by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. It has enjoyed enormous popularity since the late 1960's and is performed by countless ballet companies, primarily during the Christmas season, especially in North America. Tchaikovsky's score has become one of his most famous compositions. Some critics have called it astonishingly rich in detailed inspiration and from beginning to end, beautiful, melodious, original and characteristic. The ballet's first complete performance outside Russia took place in England in 1934. The first complete United States performance was on December 24, 1944, by the San Francisco Ballet. It was such an enormous success that the San Francisco Ballet has presented The Nutcracker every Christmas Eve and throughout the winter season, debuting new productions in 1944, 1954, 1967 and 2004. In Salt Lake City, it has been performed every year since 1963. The New York City Ballet gave its first annual performance in 1954. In addition to annual live stagings of the work, many productions have also been televised or released on home video. The Nutcracker continues to be one of Tchaikovsky's most popular compositions and contains some of his most memorable works. Tchaikovsky made a selection of eight of the numbers from the ballet before the ballet's December 1892 premiere, forming The Nutcracker Suite, Op. 71a, and is intended for concert performance. The suite was first performed, under the composer's direction, on March 19, 1892. The suite became instantly popular with almost every number encored at its premiere.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could also have the opportunity to play some of these wonderful compositions, originally scored for a full orchestra, and has arranged two of the selections, the popular March and the Russian Dance, one of the character dances, based on the traditional Russian and Ukrainian folk dance, Trepak, for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. So, in addition to this version of the Russian Dance for a Trumpet Quintet, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection for various Quintets and Octets and are readily available. If you should decide to purchase this arrangement of the Russian Dance, I would highly encourage you to also consider purchasing the arrangement of the March as well. Scheduling the March followed by the Russian Dance would be a very satisfying addition to any concert or recital. Please take the time to look for other versions of these compositions. You may find something else that might also suit your needs.I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as there are numerous selections in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. Brass Ensemble Baritone Horn TC,Cornet,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1364386 Composed by Oskar Bohme. Arranged by Roar Kvam. 19th Century,20th Century,Chamber,Romantic Period. 173 pages. KVAMusic Edition #948677. Published by KVAMusic Edition (A0.1364386). Böhmeâ??s Brass Sextet (Trompeten-Sextett) op.30, composed in 1911, undoubtedly ranks among the finest brass music produced by the romantic era. The title refers to the distinctive symmetry of the instrumentation: four instruments from the trumpet family and framed by two representative of the bugle family. The use of the trumpet was remarkable at the time because the characteristic brass ensembles of the period consisted exclusively of bugle-family instruments. It was for such a group of 2 cornets, alto, tenor and baritone horn, for example, that Viktor Ewald wrote his well known quintets. The question of which instrument to use of the exposed and rather high bass part, intended by the composer for the â??high Bb tubaâ? is tricky. A great tubist could play it on an F or Eb tuba, but a more compact ensemble sound is obtainable with a euphonium or small French Bb tuba.
