This arrangement adapted for woodwind quartet was written keeping the characteristics of the original work, that is, inspiring and significant to the already known choral symphony by Beethoven, indicated to be performed by young music students, who want to enter the symphonic music, moreover, it can also be used by professional musicians, for recitals, repertoire, academic presentations and didactic material. As much as it is a funeral march, it is well suited for any musical performance occasion. The transcription is faithful to the structure, with only one change in key, so that it is comfortable for all instruments in the formation, thus maintaining the essence of the striking melody, as well as using it for ensemble practice among musicians of different traditions. Beethoven's Ninth Symphony Op. 125 incorporates part of the poem An die Freude (To Joy), a hymn written by Friedrich Schiller, with the text sung by soloists and a choir in its last movement. It was the first example of a major composer using the human voice as prominently as the instruments in a symphony, thus creating a far-reaching work that set the tone for the symphonic form that was to be adopted by Romantic composers. This is the last complete symphony composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. The choral symphony, better known as the Ninth Symphony or The Ninth, is one of the best known works in the Western repertoire, considered both an icon and predecessor of Romantic music, and one of Beethoven's great masterpieces, where it was first performed on May 7, 1824, the same year it was completed, at the Kärntnertortheater in Vienna, Austria. The conductor was Michael Umlauf, the theater's music director, and Beethoven - dissuaded from conducting by the advanced stage of his deafness - was given a special place on the stage next to the conductor. It was later rearranged by Herbert von Karajan to become the anthem of the European Union in 1972, the national anthem of Rhodesia from 1974 until 1979, Rise, O Voices of Rhodesia, used the tune Ode to Joy..

This book has posed some issues as it is such complex music it is almost impossible to cut it down to 5 parts while maintaining its integrity. As a result, some songs will be in 6 or more parts.Tornate, O cari baci is another duet for two tenors, The title translates as Return, O Beloved ? . In it, the poet is pleading with his lover to return and kiss him back to life - with the usual proviso that 'life' and 'death' are euphemisms.I decided to use two euphonious/baritones for the soloists, with the accompaniment managed by 2 cornets/trumpets, a horn and a tuba.The accompaniment is, in places, quite complex. There are many places where there is imitation, not just between the soloists, but also between them and the accompaniment.The seventh book is quite a change from the earlier ones. Monteverdi seems to be concentrating on developing solos and duets, trios and small accompanied ensembles. The accompaniments are often written out with more than just long note chords. The intricate instrumental parts are more than just filling in the harmony (hence the difficulty in paring them down.)Once again, these songs are exquisitely crafted and travel well onto brass.

This arrangement of Forever by Papa Roach was written for a student trio, that was really dedicated to playing covers of alternative and rock covers. The parts include an alternative trumpet part and ossia passages to enable a beginner to an intermediate level brass trio to play the work with greater ease. Great emphasis is placed on accents, crescendi, and syncopated rhythms. If played at the suggested tempo the duration is 3 minutes and 20 seconds. Sections can be truncated to enable this as a processional, or interlude. The alternative and regular trumpet part could also be played together, they're an octave apart for the entire piece. Bass trombone, Euphonium, or Tuba could double the Trombone part and if possible play an octave lower when able to further fill out piece.

These owls possess wondrous healing powers, and, during their yearly display of resplendent dances at summer's first full moon, they choose a child from their audience who needs physical healing and not only heal the child but transform him or her into one of their own, to live in full health and joy for eternity. Aria is scored for Woodwind Quartet (Flute, Oboe Clarinet in B flat and Bassoon) It is a very restful melodic piece based on a single motif heard in bar 1. Written in the key of C major the piece is very hymn -like in design- with long notes and chords but has some unusual harmonies. The searing theme is stated then repeated with variation in texture. The theme is then developed using the rhythmic motif in the beginning climaxing in D major briefly before calmly returning to C major to repeat again. On this repeat more variation and articulation takes place before a restful conclusion. The range of all instruments is around two octaves with no complicated rhythms and I've tried to keep all parts interesting. and evenly balanced in terms of quantity. The full score is 8 pages and parts are 3 pages each- it is roughly 5 mins 40 in length. I have set it to intermediate level but an early intermediate should be ok with some of the parts. A wistful quartet for four same-key saxophones based on the Stephen Foster classic, Beautiful Dreamer is a deceptively challenging little piece in which the four performers must shift their role in the ensemble measure-by-measure. The melodic line and accompaniment are bounced around between performers, each saxophonist occasionally playing only a fragment of the melody at a time. The traditional melody remains largely intact, with some ornamentation, and a more modern realization of the harmony. Given the limited pitch range of a quartet of this nature, there are some lovely close-knit harmonies reminiscent of a barbershop quartet, or a music box, which lends itself to great teachable moments for tuning and intonation. This piece can be performed by any quartet of key-homogenous saxophones, but assumes a four-alto setup. It includes an optional Bb Tenor Saxophone part to replace the lowest alto, for use in a school lesson group setting.

It is believed that the ‘Merry Boys’ of the tune may have been recruited from the Shetland Isles (the northernmost island group off the coast of Scotland) to form the crew for whaling expeditions to the seas between Greenland and Canada.
