The lyrics ask the listener if they were there at Jesus' crucifixion and bring to mind contemplation of what the event would have been like. This arrangement by Mark R Lewis is for 3-5 octave handbell choir and adds handchimes for C5 to C7 as well. The singing bell technique is also utilized. This piece is potentially quite rhythmically challenging as there are many examples of triplet and duplet rhythms happening simultaneously. However, the actual techniques, bell changes, and overall difficulty of the parts is not too extreme, leading to a difficulty rating of 4-. Season: Holy Week, Good Friday Range: 3-5 octave.

God: My Helper, Comforter, Companion, Provider, Protector is a 71 measure arrangement for 4-5 octave handbell choir, and OPTIONAL 3 octaves of handchimes. It is a medley of Christian hymns that deal with some of the attributes of God, as they relate to His followers. Specifically, it includes Abide with Me, God Will Take Care of You, Day by Day and Just When I Need Him Most. It is probably a level 3+ arrangement. The God Will Take Care of You section starts with a duet in the handchimes, with the melody line switching from treble clef to bass clef, in the verse. Of course, handbells can be used instead of handchimes, if desired. In the chorus, martellato is used in the bass clef, while there is a descant going on in the high treble clef, with the melody sandwiched in between. Jesus: Savior is a 110 measure, 4-5 octave bell choir arrangement, which also uses 3 octaves of OPTIONAL handchimes, although bells can be substituted for the chimes. It is a medley of the Christian hymns: Are You Washed in the Blood, Let Jesus Come into Your Heart, Amazing Grace! How Sweet the Sound, He is Able to Deliver Thee and At Calvary. The obvious theme is Jesus as Savior, as portrayed in these hymns. There are numerous bass runs, descant lines, and, in the upper bells, doubled melodic lines. The melody is in the bass clef, in the chorus of Let Jesus Come into Your Heart. The harmonies used are often more exotic than those in the original hymn compositions. The shake technique is occasionally used. There is an extra tag ending in the last 2 measures. The MP3 audio file provided is in a piano patch/voice, but suffices to demonstrate how the arrangement is generally meant to sound. This is probably a 3- (3 minus) difficulty rating.

The song was written by Pete Seeger and Lee Hays for the folk group The Weavers. It was made famous by the group Peter, Paul, and Mary and the singer Trini Lopez whose versions both charted in the top 10 on the charts in the 1960s.This version is arranged for 2-4 octave handbell choir and makes heavy use of mallets for most of the piece. There are some very quick changes between using mallets and normal ringing and there are a lot of syncopated rhythms throughout the piece. These challenges make this arrangement ideal for smaller bell choirs that are still at a intermediate or higher playing ability. Even though the song is not specifically intended for church services, the message of the song can be incorporated into quite a variety of religious themes.The arrangement is in the key of C with no accidentals. The Power of the One is a 67 measure, 4-5 octave medley of Christian hymns whose unifying theme is the Power of the (One) God. This medley is comprised of I Sing the Mighty Power of God, Praise the Lord Who Reigns Above, Eternal Father, Strong to Save (The Navy Hymn) and He Is Able to Deliver Thee. The first two of these hymns are upbeat, and include some melody doubling into the highest octave. Those two and the last hymn make use of occasional descant lines. He Is Able to Deliver Thee is very lively, and utilizes both an occasional descant line, and (fairly fast) bass runs. In between Praise the Lord Who Reigns Above and He Is Able to Deliver Thee, you have the slower, and much more reverential Eternal Father, Strong to Save (also known as The Navy Hymn), which uses handchimes, although bells can be substituted for the chimes. This selection helps add a contrast in style, tempo and volume to the other three. At the end, there is a tag consisting of the last part of Praise the Lord Who Reigns Above at a slower tempo, and at a triple forte dynamic level, for a grandioso ending. The fast bass runs contribute to my thinking that this arrangement is probably a 3+ difficulty level.

The melody stays in the upper bells for most of the piece with accompaniment switching between chimes and bells at different points throughout. Singing bells occur several times along with syncopations in both the melody and accompaniment. There are a few quick bell changes but overall, this piece is a comfortable level 3 arrangement.
