It is flowing and meditative, with colorful LV patterns and melody both in the bass and treble.The arrangement is for full bell choir using 3-6 octaves of handbells. Rated at a Level 2 when played with 11-12 ringers because of its slow tempo and easy rhythms, “A Stroll on ‘Duke Street’†can be interpreted very musically, with crescendos and spiritually high moments. Its three verses are each treated differently, with the last verse raises the key signature a half step and then yet another half step as it grows with intensity. Although based on a hymn tune, the title allows this arrangement to be used for any audience.For sacred environments, the arranger suggests that the text be studied for inspiration. There are several words set to the tune “Duke Street,†although the arranger favors the text that begins, “I know that my redeemer lives.†When performing the piece, use the first verse as a humble (and somewhat hesitant) prayer, the second verse more confident (by relying for God's promises), and the third verse as if obtaining divine reassurance. This would place the prayer-giver in a place of wonder – a spiritual mountain-top experience. Also, see the next paragraph's description, which could also be used for a spiritual experience with God the Creator.For secular environments, use the visual imagery of an early morning walk. You start out just before sunrise, when nature is quiet and there is still dew on the grass. As you continue your upward path, the sky begins to change colors and the birds to sing. Aiming for the viewpoint at the hilltop, tree shadows begin to form and the brush mirrors the orange and grey from the new sunrise about to appear. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. Resilience is a musical painting of the journey of life, and of a resilient soul. We hear the serenity of sure comfort at the beginning, and then a melody appears--it emanates peacefulness, but also challenge. Major seventh and minor seventh chords are used back-to-back to portray the juxtaposition of light and darkness. When the minor chords take over and the melody begins to fall, a contemplative, tearful section begins, only to be interrupted by a confident rhythm. The 11/8 time signature conveys unsteadiness, but as it continues and grows, it becomes steady and powerful. Finally, the main theme returns in exuberance--the true form of a resilient spirit. As the music comes to a close, the final chord is a major seventh, not minor--good has triumphed over evil--and the notes float up heavenward to the final resting place--it is finished; having persevered, the soul has earned its peaceful rest.

Total Praise Total Praise is arranged for a 3 octave Handbell Choir, Level 3 (Key, Accidentals, 16th notes, Syncopation). This is a gospel song sung at many church and secular events for over 20 years. This inspirational song can be performed in a wide range of venues in or outside places of worship. A traditional encore begins at measure 14, beat 3. It goes to the 2nd Ending and continues to the end of the piece; no repeats. The author, Richard Smallwood, is quoted to say, It’s a song that gives praise to God, transcending church walls and going places I never thought it would go, circa 2015. The arranger is Brian Leverett. He has a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Music Education from Wayne State University and has now retired from teaching Elementary and Middle School Band in the Detroit Public Schools. He also has been an avid member of handbell choirs for twenty years.

It also utilizes OPTIONAL 2 octaves of handchimes . It is a medley of the Christmas carols: Joy to the World, Silent Night and O Come, All Ye Faithful. It starts out, joyfully, at a strong dynamic level, with Joy to the World. Then, it becomes soft for Silent Night, going into a CHORUS of O Come, All Ye Faithful that grows in volume to double forte, at which time the verse portion of O come, All Ye Faithful starts. At the next chorus, the dynamic progression is repeated, until the final chorus becomes triple forte at the very end. The handchimes are used simultaneously with handbells during Silent Night, but handbells can be substituted for the handchimes. That section is very slow and laid back, with its strong point being more exotic chords than the traditional carol. The first and last sections of the arrangement are faster (and louder), both with surprise key changes. The last section also features very full chords, in places, starting with the verse of O Come, All Ye Faithful. I would think that this is probably a level 2+ arrangement in difficulty---mostly because of the 16th notes in Joy to the World. The audio clip provided is in a piano voice (patch) but suffices to demonstrate how the arrangement is generally meant to sound.
