The entire piece has many slow, drifting scale passages which are paired with an original melody. This melody is both hidden in the middle bells and can also be found in broad, sweeping, forte passages. The center section is based on the English method of tower ringing known as Plain Hunt Major and takes ringers back in history to the roots of tower ringing.

Sing We Now of Christmas is a wonderfully rhythmic minor key hymn that translates well to handbells, and beginning handbells at that! All within the span of less than an octave, this piece only requires six bells. If each ringer holds two bells, that makes only three ringers in all. My friend maestro said he likes the almost constant G on the second page, for he says it sounds like bells clanging in a tower, Christmas bells! Two pages, key of G minor, no key changes. Tempo set at 76 bpm, but challenge your choir to play this faster and see how that sounds!

With cascading seventh chords and a hymn-like melody, Twilight reflects a peaceful evening as the last sunlight fades into a star-studded night sky. Storm opens with swirling fourths and a dramatic melody in the bass. The whirling winds of the trebles are frequently broken by musical thunder in the bass and an ascending lightning motif-the storm lulls and surges, reaching a rapid and dramatic finale. Scott R. Hummel is a composer and musician from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Scott holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music and a Bachelor of Music in Audio and Music Production from Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pennsylvania. He has performance experience in keyboard instruments, choral music, and percussion. His introduction to the carillon came through listening to the 62-bell instrument housed in the Chimes Tower at Longwood Gardens, Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. Scott also serves as an instructor for the North American Carillon School where he teaches music theory. In addition to carillon, Scott has written for various other mediums, including choir, pipe organ, and percussion. The song was written in tribute to the picturesque Kintyre peninsula in Scotland and its headland, the Mull of Kintyre, where Paul McCartney has owned High Park Farm since 1966. The song was Wings' biggest hit in Britain where it became the 1977 Christmas number one, remaining at number 1 for 9 weeks, and was the first single to sell over two million copies nationwide. It is one of the best-selling singles of all time in the United Kingdom. The lyrics of the first verse, also used as the repeating chorus, are an ode to the area's natural beauty and sense of home.
