Assignments are included according to the quantity of ringers, and the piece is Level 2 when played with seven or eight ringers. This piece may also be performed by four- or six- in-hand ensembles without tables.Combining flowing lines with block chords, this arrangement of the familiar hymn tune is reminiscent of a music box. The melody is played both in the bass and the treble lines, and the easy rhythms never advance beyond the eighth note value. Every ringer is kept busy with lots of ringing, LV, some shakes, and minimal accidentals. When I survey the wondrous Cross is a well-loved Easter hymn by the 17th century, English hymn writer, Isaac Watts with music (Rockingham) by Edward Miller who was, at one time, a flautist in Handel’s orchestra. The arrangement is for 2½ -3 octaves of handbells with the optional use of handchimes. After a brief introduction the tune is played twice with a key modulation at the change. This piece will suit beginner to early intermediate ringers.

Published by Mark R Lewis (A0.1191184). Barbara Allen is a (likely Scottish) Folk song that has spread all across the English-speaking world. The earliest known versions date from the 17th century and as with most folk songs, there is considerable variety in the lyrics recorded in various versions. Generally the song tells the story of Barbara Allen and her rejecting the love a young man who is dying.This version is arranged for 3 octave handbell choir and is approximately level 2 by AGHER difficulty guidelines. There are no bell changes and the piece is relatively simple overall, but there are a few times where the rhythms are mildly complex with some ringers playing steady quarter-notes and others playing eighth-note followed by dotted quarter-note patters. The melody is passed between all three octaves and harmony is quite simple for most of the piece.

Published by Bronze:FX (A0.1307875). “Endless Fanfare†is a transcription of an original organ toccata composed by the Parisian organist Nicolas Jacques Lemmens. In the style of a French suite, this piece may be condensed or expanded to fit nearly any performance situation. Played quickly and without repeats, it builds to a satisfying climax. Taken at a more moderate tempo and with all repeats (including an unwritten but implied optional DC from the end of measure 78), “Endless Fanfare†may continue forever.The arrangement is for full choir using 3, 4, 5, or 6 octaves of handbells, and the piece is Level 3 when played with a full complement of ringers.All stopped sounds are left to the director's discretion, depending on the performance context and personal taste. The bass must provide a solid foundation, but never be overbearing. Plucked sounds would create a sharp accent and quick decay; malletted sounds should be much softer; martellati would be quite harsh.Exceptional skill and endurance is required of the F5+G5 and A5+B5 ringers, who must maintain a contant but subtle off-beat pulse throughout.The tempo must remain steady and without rubato, until the final two measures.Performance time:  4 minutes.
