Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.818377 By Stephen R Dalrymple. By Stephen R Dalrymple (Dalrymple Designs). Arranged by Stephen R Dalrymple. Praise & Worship. Score. 35 pages. Stephen R Dalrymple #6753169. Published by Stephen R Dalrymple (A0.818377). Infinite, Eternal, Invisible, Undetectable God ♫ original song by Stephen R Dalrymple ♫ based on 2 Chronicles 2:6, John 1:18, John 4:24 ♫ CCLI song # 7193328 ♫ Does God, the Creator of the Universe, have a face, eyes, ears, hands, arms, and feet? (Eze 39:29, Ps 34:15, Isa 59:1, Ps 98:1) Does He have wings like a chicken that He uses to comfort us? (Ps 91:4) Does He travel on the back of a cherub? (Psalm 18:10) Are the clouds a hiding place for God? (Job 22:14) Is His residence a place called heaven? Is the earth the footstool of His throne? (Isaiah 66:1) Does God change His mind? (Ex 32:14) ♫ The poetry of the Bible, (like other ancient literature) is full of figures of speech. Figures of speech explain things in words and ideas we can understand. The Bible abounds in figures of speech such as simile (comparison using like or as), metaphor (comparison not using like or as), synecdoche (using a part for the whole), deliberate hyperbole [obvious exaggeration], verbal irony (the tone of voice tells that the speaker means the opposite of the words he or she is using), personification (attributing human features or feelings to animals or inanimate objects), anthropomorphism / anthropopathism (gives human attributes, feelings to God.) [or animals, inanimate objects, cartoon characters.] ♫ God is spirit. (John 1:18, John 4:24) He is infinite, eternal, invisible, undetectable. The humanlike descriptions of God are actually figures of speech that help us understand and identify with Him. Descriptions of God’s eyes, arms, feet, wings, etc. are all figures of speech that tell us God is present everywhere, sees everything, hears everything, and cares about every part of his creation. (God is imminent). ♫ The heavens, even the highest heavens cannot contain Him. (2 Chronicles 2:6, 6:18) God is separate from the universe. (God is transcendent.) Scientific measurements cannot detect Him because He is not in the universe, the universe is in Him. ♫ Just as you can feel your fingers and your toes at the same time, God knows what is happening in every atom of the universe simultaneously. Back to the original question. ♫ After swimming laps in our local pool, I like to float on my back a bit. It reminds me that as the water surrounds me and supports me, so I am constantly encircled and upheld by God’s actual presence ♫ music © 2022 Stephen R Dalrymploe♫ recording ℗ 2022 Stephen R Dalrymple ♫ presentation © 2022 Stephen R Dalrymple ♫ sequenced by the composer ♫ This .pdf file includes 1) labeled copies for up to 7 printed copies of the vocal with piano accompaniment and 2) vocal with piano accompaniment for 10 inch tablet. Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1418039 Composed by Liz Nedela. 20th Century,Chamber,Classical,Contemporary,Contest,Festival. Score. 12 pages. Liz Nedela #999589. Published by Liz Nedela (A0.1418039). This piece is based on a poem by e.e. cummings. The subject matter is the specialheaven that would be created for the poet’s mother. The music shadows, augments, and illuminates the rendition of the poem. In keeping with poetic symbolism, the pianouses motifs and musical phrases to emulate the soprano throughout the pieceThe tone of the piece is somewhat minor and modal; however, please portray a light-hearted interpretation—it should never be heavy or dark. The poet is uplifting his motherto the highest stature possible, and portrays his father as devoted and loving towardsher. The key is atonal; however, various tonality implications are heard throughout. Thepiano pedal should be complimentary to the piece, with care not to be noticed or over-bearing.Please Note: there are two other versions of this piece by this composer:One is for solo pianoOne is for the ensemble of Soprano, Violin, Bassoon, CelloAlso please note: the mp3 is from computer notation; the the soprano does not sing words; please sing along with the mp3 following the text.Text is used by permission of the Trustees of the E.E. Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1281185 By Kevin Longley. By Kevin Longley. Arranged by Kevin Longley. Christian,Easter,Lent,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Score. 9 pages. Kevin Longley #872527. Published by Kevin Longley (A0.1281185). He Will Lead Me Home (choral church anthem composed in 2023)The InspirationA few Easter seasons ago, during one of our Tuesday Choir rehearsals, we were preparing for “Good Shepherd Sundayâ€. Diane our Choir director commented “there are very few Good Shepherd pieces to choose fromâ€. One of our sopranos replied “Let's write our ownâ€. I made note of it and this past year finally found the time and inspiration to give it a try. I did my usual research on the subject matter and then found a drawing of a Shepherd standing at the top of a hill with his sheep lined up behind him. Leaning on his staff the Shepherd was contemplating the safest route home. Upon his decision he looked back and called to his sheep. The MusicThe music begins with a piano introduction depicting the Shepherd standing at the top of the hill contemplating the safest route home, as noted earlier. Stately in nature it features a simple melodic idea, played by the right hand, which is then answered by a series of majestic chords. This “back and forth†continues until it reaches its climax at a D flat major chord against a slur from a high G to F. At this point we hear what will be a reoccurring chordal theme of C major to F major and later C minor to F major. The accompaniment begins, now in three quarter time signifying the sheep beginning to move in response to the shepherds call. The verse melody is drawn from the opening three notes of the introduction but with a different rhythm and repeats it self with underlying harmonic changes. The melody and chord structure is somewhat impressionistic in nature. Lyrically a contrast is drawn between how the Shepherd (Jesus) provides for his sheep (followers) and how God provides for the “sheep†(animals) through nature. As the verse comes to an end we are lead to the realization that “the shepherd is the Lord our King, the Good Shepherd Kingâ€. The refrain begins with the tenor continuing to solo on the main melody. â€He Will Lead Home†is realized and proclaimed! A soprano descant is added for contrast. Harmonically the music makes use of the various minor key options, “melodic, harmonic and naturalâ€. The refrain concludes proclaiming “The Good Shepherds the Way He's our Life!â€. The second verse shadows the thought pattern of verse one leading to the refrain once more but this time a bridge is introduced to add drama with the piano playing a significant role. A return to the refrain is varied with the tenor singing a portion of it against softly played chords; but then resumes its rhythmic drive to its ultimate conclusion by repeating “the Good Shepherds the Way He's our Life!â€.Program NotesVoicing can be varied based on what types of singers are available. For example this could be sung by 2 tenors with one singing the descant down an octave. Finally as noted in the score, the intro is optional though I prefer it be played; the shepherd contemplating a safe route is important in the music with its contrast to the verse music and important in our life of faith.Â

Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1081918 By Performance of Eighteen in Italy by Marsha Anderson , Francis Osentowski, Piano. By Francis Osentowski, DMA University of North Texas, Jerry McElveen, Texts. Arranged by Original composition. Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Instructional,Opera. Score. 29 pages. Francis Osentowski #686049. Published by Francis Osentowski (A0.1081918). LETTERS FROM A POET IN ITALY is a song cycle for soprano and soprano. This site includes of all four songs: 1. Eighteen in Italy 2. Caregiver 3. Colosseum 4. DAVID The cycle is my setting of poems by Jerry McElveen, my friend and an awesome poet and professor at Richland College. Jerry wrote several poems during a tour of Italy made up of a group of faculty and spouses. On our last day in Rome...he surprised everyone by performing his new works. The minute he started reading I knew this would be a great text to set to music. This cycle has been performed often in the DFW Tx. area...first by Marsha Anderson, my colleague at North Lake College and later by the young soprano Erin Acorn. Marsha earned a living in Italy for over 20 years as an opera singer and taught me lots of valuable details about the substiles of composing for this vocal style. You can hear her beautiful voice on recordings we made at a performance in the concert hall at UTA Arlington. In retrospect, I like the tempos to relax more than these recordings, so the vocal lines have more time to breath. The cycle also received a positive review by the famous music critic for the Dallas Morning News, Scott Cantrell. Thank you to Scott! I kept the vocal lines away from extreme high and low pitches...and several singers have told me the voice lines are very comfortable for them. Singable by professionals AND young sopranos.

Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1081893 By Francis Osentowski, music Jerry McElveen, text. By Francis Osentowski, DMA University of North Texas. Arranged by Original composition. Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Instructional,Multicultural,Opera,World. Score. 7 pages. Francis Osentowski #686005. Published by Francis Osentowski (A0.1081893). Eighteen in Italy is song one of a four-part song cycle. 1. Eighteen in Italy 2. Caregiver 3. Colosseum 4. David. The beautiful poems by former Richland College Professor, Jerry McElveen describes a tour of Italy by a group of faculty and families. In a beautiful ballroom in Rome on the last day of the tour, Jerry surprised all of us by reciting poems he had created during the tour. When he began presenting his texts...I immediately knew those words were perfect for a musical setting! Our pieces have been performed often throughout the DFW area. Marsha Anderson is a North Lake College faculty member who was an opera singer in Italy for decades and later taught a student credit trip to Italy. You will her perform at University of Texas Arlington with me at the piano. I now think each of the songs should slow down a few clicks to breath more for the singer. The talented young soprano, Erin Alcorn performed the cycle more recently and both performer and my music received excellent reviews from the Dallas Morning News music critic, Scott Cantrell. Several performers have told me that the songs are very comfortable to perform, and the music is suitable for young singers. All four songs are available to purchase at this site.

Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.942058 Composed by Apostolos Paraskevas. 20th Century,Jazz,Opera,World. Score. 10 pages. Silver Sickle Publications #4729017. Published by Silver Sickle Publications (A0.942058). This witty and extremely fun work to perform by composer Apostolos Paraskevas was conceived after real events. There is a version for Soprano/tenor and Piano and one for guitar as well. Easy to perform and the text was inspired of the following narrative. I Slaughtered an Orange over the Sink... ...and it just sat there…It didn't say a word, not a sound of anguish, not even when my teeth started to tear apart it's flesh little by little... I knew it was a special orange but I couldn't fathom the magnitude of its character…Even when gentle I took it away from its friends there at the top of the kitchen counter, it looked at me almost with a sense of gratitude. Yes, gratitude.! As if it was saying: Thank you! Thank you for helping me to fulfill the purpose of my life…Since I was a little seed I knew I would serve a higher purpose. My sacrifice will help a human to become a healthier mother, doctor, composer, a better scientist. Yes, I think I felt it said…a better composer as well. ...and there I was, sinking my teeth deep inside its flesh and taking all of what it had to offer. It's life, it's substance, it's gratitude for serving a higher purpose. I slaughtered it over the sink, to avoid any evidence of what had happen there. The remaining outer sell, I placed it on the stove top and lighted up with fire, as my mother use to do, to release the heavenly smell and there it was. Evaporated everywhere! I inhale it, It became totally a part of me. Today, I slaughtered an orange over the sink and I didn’t say thank you! Apostolos Paraskevas is a classical guitarist and composer as well as an award-winning film director and producer. He has received multiple international awards for his compositions and was nominated for a Grammy Award. He is the only guitarist ever to have a major orchestral piece performed at Carnegie Hall under the direction of Lukas Foss––and the only musician who has performed there in a Grim Reaper outfit. He was the founder and served for 16 years as the artistic director of the International Guitar Congress-Festival of Corfu, Greece. He is a voting member of the Recording Academy (Grammys). After his undergraduate music studies in Volos he pursued advanced studies in classical guitar with Costas Cotsiolis (diploma, 1990) and Leo Brouwer (Havana 1984, 1988), as well as postgraduate studies in composition with Lukas Foss and Theodore Antoniou (DMA in composition, Boston University, 1998). Paraskevas embarked on a successful career as a guitar soloist and contemporary composer, achieving distinctions in both disciplines: Grammy nomination for Chase Dance (Bridge Records, 1999); first prize for Night Wanderings (Lukas Foss Composition Competition, 2000); first prize for Phygein Adynaton (National Composers Conference, 1997); and numerous prestigious commissions, performances, and publications. Following teaching posts at Northeastern and Boston Universities, Paraskevas has taught since 2001 at the Berklee College of Music in Boston (professor of composition and classical guitar). His eclectic compositional style arises as an idiosyncratic integration of seemingly conflicting influences – from avant-garde approaches to harmonic structure, form, and timbre, to pop-folk modal and rhythmical concepts – amalgamated into a personal evocative musical language, characterized by rhythmic verve, melodic grace, dramatic (and sometimes unexpectedly humorous) gestures, and ritualistic or theatrical elements. The latter feature has also led Paraskevas to the creation of films, notably the acclaimed I Finally Did It (Gold award, California Film Awards 2010), dealing wittily with Death, a recurring extra-musical theme in his music.
