This version is arranged as a solo for Alto Saxophone with chord symbols for piano or guitar accompaniment in concert pitch. Written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, two versions were recorded for the film, one by the lead actress Auliʻi Cravalho and the other by Alessia Cara. How Far I’ll Go won a Grammy in 2018 and has been consistently the most streamed song in the Disney canon since its release.Musicians at an intermediate standard will find this ideal for formal and informal concert performances. Total performance time is around three minutes. This is the full length version as sung in the film, with the verse, bridge and chorus performed twice and a final chorus a semitone higher. Despite the song’s appearance relatively late in the Beatles’ discography, it was one of the first songs that Paul McCartney wrote, at the age of 16. When the song was finally recorded in 1966, Paul McCartney felt it was too slow and turgid. George Martin simply solved the problem by speeding up the tape and raising the pitch by one semitone. This version of When I’m Sixty-Four is arranged in a suitable key and range for solo Alto Saxophone. Published by Indie Classical Publications (A0.971795). VALOR is one of my very early compositions, yet it remains one of my favorites I have composed to this day. When writing this, I was trying to capture this sense of emotional struggle that we all face at times. The title is a metaphor for the feeling of being intimidated and overwhelmed by the difficulties we face in life, and making the choice of accepting them and trying to work through them. Often times I think people tend to shy away from their problems rather than addressing them. This work is meant to reflect those emotions when we must have some courage. Like most of my works, this is not written intentionally to indicate a specific form, but it does follow an ABA form. The performers may express some rubato throughout, as it is encouraged in this piece. Originally for Horn & Piano, this version is for the Alto Saxophone & Piano. Difficulty: grade 4 (intermediate).

In 1853 Charles Czerny took this polka tune and created a piano etude as part of his set Amusement des Juenes Amateurs. I have taken some of his themes and adapted and arranged them for instrumental solo. I have assembled them into a Rondo form: Intro-A-B-A-C-A-D-A-Coda. It is an etude (study) to sharpen your playing of scales, arpeggios, melodic interval leaps, and various articulations. But it doesn't at all sound like an exercise because of the playful nature of the polka. This dramatic piece shows your technical accomplishments while delivering a crowd pleasing tune with great flourish.I have marked it as Intermediate in difficulty as a general average. The notes and rhythms are Easy, the quick Tempo makes it Early Intermediate, and the range which is a half step beyond a full 2 octaves makes it Advanced Intermediate for some instruments.3 pages, 1:45 minutesTemporary recording of piano playing instrument part.

Jörg Widmann, an internationally sought-after soloist and professor of clarinet at the Freiburg Musikhochschule, displays the exquisite refinement of contemporary clarinet sound in 'Fünf Bruchstücke' (already published) for clarinet and piano (KLB 54) and in the present 'Fantasie' for solo clarinet. While noise, as a means of expression, is given much attention in 'Fünf Bruchstücke', 'Fantasie' is largely based on the usual Romantic melodious sound, though this time with ironic side trips into dance, klezmer and jazz music, the clarinet's equivalent of light music. 'Fantasie' for solo clarinet is my first real piece for my own instrument, the clarinet. With its eccentric virtuosity and its cheerful, ironic fundamental character, it reflects the experience with Stravinsky's 3 Pieces for solo clarinet of 1919 and the tonal innovations which did not appear in music before Carl Maria von Weber's notation for the clarinet, and takes them further in a new way. It is a little imaginary scene uniting the dialogues of different people in close proximity in the spirit of the commedia dell'arte. - Jörg Widmann ...on the interpretation: It would be important to take the title completely literally – which is why the performer should of course play the piece with imagination. The most important information on the structure: the complete absence of bar lines – whenever the piece is played to me by students or other persons, I am always pleased about the player's own ideas and about the fact that the musical text is taken literally and seriously, with all its dynamic and articulation marks, and yet filled with life and imagination. What I always notice, however, is that the rhythmic fast pulse part is often played like an étude, rather than with imagination. What is most important to me, personally, is to take pleasure in making tonal distinctions, even despite the strict timing.
