2018 Holiday Contest Entry

This upbeat early 2000's Christmas original in harmonic minor has a small rap solo in the bridge! Opportunities for multiple soloists, as long as they can handle the complex pop rhythms. Alto 2 goes down to F#3 with optional E3's. Feel free to adapt the arrangement in any way to accommodate the needs and strengths of your group.

With a Master of Music in Choral Conducting and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Theory & Performance, Brandy Kay Riha is an a cappella educator, vocal coach, and arranger with a special interest in building treble repertoire. We Love Christmas (most of the time) will have both choir members and audience chuckling and send everyone out the door with lots of Christmas spirit! This Christmas choral piece for treble choirs is a super fun medley containing snippets of eight well known seasonal tunes delightfully and humorously arranged for SSAA with piano. You'll need a couple of "ham bones" in the choir to assist in strategic spots. A fun audience participation experience is to encourage the audience to identify all eight tunes! The piece is suitable for all treble choirs and would be welcome at all venues. As cute as a bugs ear, this ultra-happy Christmas ditty by Sia is a true joy. Every theme seems unusually familiar, and they are presented by the lead one at a time, excepting the colour theme which is taken by the basses. The four themes are then masterfully woven together in counterpoint in the last stretch of the arrangement. The tenors have the final post whilst the leads finish their theme and the baritones noodle around them, concluding with a very jazzy, very christmassy baritone solo to polish the arrangement off. This is the perfect ear-worm for your Christmas season!
