The song was jointly written and performed by Paul McCartney and John Lennon. The song was inspired by a newspaper story about a missing teenage girl. The Huapango is a traditional Mexican style of music and dance, often mixing triple and duple metres. It is played on violin, accordion, and local 5-string variants of the guitar such as the vihuela, huapanguera and jarana. The Huapango rhythm famously inspired the song America in Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story.If you play to an intermediate standard and upwards, then you and your audience will enjoy this piece. The mixed metres, alternating between 6/8 and 3/4, will present a rhythmic challenge, while following the precise articulation in the score will help convey the dance style of the Huapango. Huapango de Hannah has a performance time of around two minutes. This version of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is arranged by David McKeown as a duet for one Clarinet and one Viola. The song, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, was written in 1949 by Johhny Marks. The Rudolph story was written by Marks’ brother-in-law, Robert L May, a decade earlier. The success of the song was guaranteed when it was recorded by Gene Autry, a huge star at the time. Initially Gene Autry didn’t like the song and was only persuaded to record it by his wife. She obviously knew best as Rudolph went on to become the second best-selling Christmas record of all time after White Christmas, with versions by everyone from the Jackson Five to Alvin and the Chipmunks. This duet version of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is based on the Gene Autry version, with a short introduction, and three choruses of the melody, with a key change and varied accompaniment throughout. Rhythms are simple in a swing style and the range is conservative, so this arrangement is ideal for players at an intermediate level. At the time, French art culture was fashionable, and Paul McCartney used to pretend he was French despite no knowledge of the language. Later John Lennon suggested Paul should write a song recalling those times. Paul asked a friend’s wife, who happened to be a French teacher, for help with the French lyrics.This version of Michelle is arranged as a duet for one Clarinet and one Viola.
