It’s so much fun to play, and although it’s a simplified version, it still captures the flowing atmosphere of the original that we know and love. Difficulty Level and Skills Required: Late-Beginner. The right hand plays the melody using fingers 1-2-3. The left hand plays the accompaniment with many 1-2-3 shapes and a few rolled chords. There is a right-hand glissando towards the end of the piece.Type of Harp: For big and small harps, 22 strings (C-C) or larger.Range: Lowest note is C, one octave below middle C. Reba Lunsford's very easy pieces for beginning harp players are printed on the left-hand pages, and a more advanced accompaniment is printed on the right-hand page. This allows the teacher to play a nice accompaniment along with the beginning student during their lesson. The accompaniments can also be played as a duet with another harp or piano by the student's sibling, parent, or friend.This book will have the kids wanting to practice! Subtitled Fun Songs for Beginners and Friends, it is an excellent supplement for any teacher of young students. The songs are very short, usually 2 or 3 lines, and have fun lyrics about dragons or dinosaurs. The first 7 songs have fingerings and placing brackets. Each tune has a musical concept the teacher can briefly touch on to reinforce theory, such as eighth notes, placing, measures, time signatures, intervals, accents, arpeggios, glisses, tempo, thumb slides, scales, pickup measure, accidentals, ties, and more. All of the pieces are in the key of C. Student pieces from level 1 to level 3.This collection has some very easy pieces. The most difficult, Baron’s Blues, is a jazzy piece that is actually easier on lever harp than on the pedal harp, because all the accidentals use lever pre-sets! This is also true of Walkin’ Wally. Danny Solves the Mystery sounds much more difficult than it is. Hands cross, but do not play at the same time. Lullaby for Smokey gently puts the hands together in easy patterns. Walkin’ Wally is more challenging, but my students enjoyed it so much they practiced! 60’s rock vamp and walking bass makes it fun. Grumpy Dreams of Flying was composed for a student who wanted something mysterious sounding. Dreamy glissandi throughout most of this piece create the effect. Chasing Buddy is fast and cute, just like the Jack Russel Terrier it’s named after. Baron’s Blues is supposed to sound like a whiny puppy who just wants someone to play with him. Not too fast! Forest Friends has a new age feel with the additional benefit of being an etude for interval practice. Buckwheat’s Baby is a study on I, IV and V7 chords.

Published by Luis Anjos Teixeira (A0.889431). Blind Mary was composed by O`Carolan, it is an irresistible enchanting little piece. In this file there are 3 versions for 3 different sizes of harps. One in F for a big harp, one in Eb for medium size and the one in F for a little 3 oct. lap harp a very similar one to the one that usually O`Carolan used to perform. The melodic bass played with the left hand demands a little bit of coordination but the arrangement is focused in the main melody and is very easy to perform in all this 3 versions. The piece is so beautiful that I recommend it to be played always twice in a row. Some interpretation symbols are used as a performance suggestion. Most of the score is left to the interpretation of the artists involved, particularly the use of fingering. Feel Free to apply in this piece the Art and technic that expresses entirely your individual skills and taste. Have fun! The score was written on Finale. The sound file is the version in Eb for a medium size diatonic harp, it was produced with samplers from Garritan and conceived merely as an audio support for the presentation of the score. This solo is suitable for late beginner harpists, and it can be played on any harp, including lap harps with a range of two octaves. This arrangement is in 4/4, the key of C, and it uses eighth notes, quarter notes, half notes, and whole notes. Fingerings are provided, and the range is only 2 octaves, from 4th octave C to 2nd octave C (with a few optional notes if your harp has them). There are no accidentals.
