This excellent book by Beth Kolle will add some interesting "northern land" tunes to your repertoire! This 117-page book contains music from Ireland, Scotland, Sweden, Norway, Cape Breton, France, Manx, and Finland, 25 tunes in all. Each piece has an introductory page of background information. The following tunes have flute parts in addition to the harp part: Carrickfurgus, Innisheer, Brae Lochiel, Schottis 1, and The Shepherd's Daughter. The following tunes have a Harp 2 duo part: Innisheer, Reinlendar 1, and Mazurka Michel. Chords are included and measure numbers are marked at the beginning of each system.

This hauntingly beautiful three-part harp ensemble was commissioned for the opening of a new 2000-seat concert facility, Strathmore Music Hall, in Bethesda, Maryland. Dance of the Harps is presented with an underlying 3/4 accompaniment of swaying rhythm. The melody is shared between the first and second parts, while the third part provides underlying rhythm. The melody develops and expands and is followed by a sharply contrasting middle section, which is much faster and jig-like. In this section, the harps let loose in their dance, which has become spirited and playful. Following this faster middle section, the ensemble returns to the original melody, but with greater intensity and rhythmic vitality. As the piece comes to its dramatic conclusion, layer upon layer of rich harmonies unfold and become increasingly intense, culminating in a bell-like explosion of syncopated celebratory sound. The piece can be played by an ensemble of all level intermediate lever or pedal harpists, as each of the three parts is written with a different degree of technical difficulty.

A collection of gentle original melodies playable on lever or pedal harp. Spring Prelude, key of C is in ¾ time,with a very sweet melody. Just One Kiss of Spring is in 4/4 key of G, slow with a few large rolled major 7th chords. Spring Clouds is in 6/8, key of A minor, fairly moving with a key change to F. There is also a C# lever change. Rain is in E minor, almost monotonous and excellent for meditation. An April Lullaby, in G and ¾, is marked ?tenderly,?. Good Morning to May, in G and ¾, is a lovely slow and simple tune. Here?s to June, in 4/4, key of G, has more drive than the preceding tunes. Spring Nocturne, in C and 4/4, is very simple to play, with only a few full chords. Although a few low notes are found here and there, all of these pieces can easily be adapted to a harp with 29 strings or even 26.

Nine arrangements, some familiar and some new. Excellent repertoire for those who play parties, receptions and other public venues. Fingerings are judiciously provided for ease in sight reading or for study purposes in teaching. A set of lead sheets is included at the back of the collection, complete with rehearsal letters, repeat signs, interludes and multi-measure rests. These can be used by any other instrumentalist such as flute, violin, cello, guitar or keyboard. Permission is given to copy the lead sheets for additional instruments.

Popular melodies from the Medieval Period arranged for lever or pedal harp duet. Harp 1 is designed to be a complete solo arrangement while Harp 2 enhances and fills out the first part. Arranged for all harps using only the keys of F, C, G and D, with minimal lever or pedal changes. A range of exactly four octaves from C to C is needed to play all of the duet arrangements. Although these arrangements do not strictly adhere to medieval harmony and rhythm, they are nicely evocative of the Middle Ages.

A really nice set list of unusual selections. Most tunes can be played on a harp with less than 26 strings with levers on B, E, F, and C. The level of difficulty ranges from very easy to intermediate. Derry Air and High Road are more challenging, having octaves and full left hand patterns. Helpful hints on how to accommodate a small harp are included.

Debbie Vinick's arrangement of Here Comes the Sun is for the fully-levered harp with at least 34 strings tuned in E Flat Major. (With all the levers down, tune B's, E's, and A's to flat). Only two pages, it fits well into a gig book or music notebook. It is very playable and lever changes are written in red. It is best printed in color.

This arrangement is for double strung harp solo. There are 2 versions provided: key of C and key of G. The key of C works well on double strung floor harps and lowest note is G (1.5 octaves below middle C). The key of G is suitable for double strung lap harps. There are 2 preset levers and one mid-song lever change required.
