I wrote it on a 26-string lap harp, but the range (from the C below middle C to the C above middle C) would fit a harp as small as 22 strings. It is written in A minor, with no sharps, flats, or other lever changes. As such, this piece should be playable on pretty much any standard small or lap harp, regardless of whether it has levers.Suggested harp models include Harpsicle Harps, Dusty Strings Ravenna 26, Musicmakers Sonnet 29, Fireside Harps, Marini Made lap harp models, Roosebeck Pakistani harps, Heartland Harps Air Serenity, Harp-E harps, and so on.The piece was composed to cheer up a fellow harpist who is still at the beginning of their harp journey. It is meant to invoke a medieval castle, and, as such, could be the perfect piece to take to a renaissance fair, an outdoor wedding, a larp-ing event, or perhaps on vacation with you, if you plan on touring any old castles with your small/lap harp in tow and trying out the acoustics.The song is appropriate for beginner harpists. You may need to practice replacing in a few places to avoid buzzing. But the piece only ever requires you to place in one direction at a time and minimizes the amount of time both hands play simultaneously. You can play it slower than I do in the recording, if you choose, and it should still sound nice.Please note that the preview cuts off after the first few measures of score. I like to think it gives spooky filmscore / Wednesday Addams vibes, with a neoclassical air, while still remaining very accessible to a less-experienced musician with a small, simple, or budget instrument.It is in the key of A minor (i.e. no sharps or flats) with no lever changes. It should also already fit the range of most common small harp models, including Harpsicle harps (even if your model has no levers!), Roosebeck Pakistani harps (it goes no lower than the F below middle C), Harp-E harps (it goes no higher than your high E), Dusty Strings Ravenna, Musicmakers Sonnet Lap Harp, and others. It can also, obviously, be played on any and all larger harp models.Played at full-speed, some of the turn-arounds in the right-hand, as well as the octave jump in the middle, can prove tricky (as you can see from my own playing in the video!). But played under tempo and more expressively, it could be accessible even to beginner/early-intermediate harpists, so long as you are learning to replace fingers and change directions.Please note that the preview cuts off after the first half-page of score. These ensembles, Danny Boy and The Harp That Once Thro' Tara's Halls, are accessible to many harp sizes, and to playing levers from rank beginning to intermediate, so that all your harping friends can play with you. If a duo is all you can muster, Parts One and Two make complete pieces. Parts Three and Four add harmonic, rhythmic and/or tonal richness. There are also beginner parts with each piece. When there are enough players, it helps to double the melody. All parts are written for two hands, but less advanced players may wish to play one hand as marked in many parts. There are rehearsal numbers every five measures to make it easier for everyone to be in the same place.

For Solo Pedal Harp -- Composed in 2015 -- Approx. duration 7:45 --PROGRAM NOTES:Piece for Harp #1 begins abruptly with an invitation to the listener to take an inner journey into a potentially uncomfortable place. The discomfort dissipates into a more celebratory feel, which leads into the final contemplative mood to end. Compositionally, besides trying to challenge the performer, I am interested in exploring the counterpoint that results from overlapping patterns of different durations, as well as opposing rhythms within these patterns, which can be heard throughout the different sections. The final section of the piece introduces a 3rd contrapuntal layer, which further challenges the performer in that each voice is played on a different part of the string. (Harmonics on top, PDLT or close to the table in the middle, and sustained bass on the bottom.) In combination with the complex rhythmic and metric structure, this is probably the most difficult section, especially when trying to express a calm, contemplative soundscape.

Luis Anjos Teixeira „Now comes the Little Story The Volcano`s Lake was composed on a volcano called Pico that stands out about 2000 meters above see level right in the middle of the Atlantic ocean. From the bottom of the ocean to its pick it is higher than mount Everest. I like to know that there are an enormous amount of different species of whales that live in this area and many others that go there strictly for romance. I went there to perform with the harp but was at the same time deeply morning the death of my Dear Cat Mary Jane that tragically passed away the day before the flight. In this isle I was having at night strange dreams of epic battles and fights between flying Angels and Demons. In one of these dreams „Time and Matter were a byproduct of „Music itself. The wind was blowing, the volcano was dancing and the water on the lake was whispering enchanting melodies. As soon as I woke up I wrote some notes before they vanished away, just a fragment of an idea of what I was listening in the dream. I named it „The Volcano`s Lake, because the „Lake was comforting me with its melodies, I realized that my tears were also becoming the lake itself and in this lake I was becoming one with Mary Jane and all the rest of the Universe. Thanks to Claudia Eppelt for the all the Love the wonderful painting and cover design. Your audience’s memory of this Eighties rock anthem by Journey will be playing along in their head—from the original album, a live performance, The Sopranos, Glee, karaoke, or all of the above. But they’ve never heard it before on a harp.<br> <br> This arrangement makes good use of the double-strung by using both sides for repeated notes and letting the accompaniment hand overlap the melody. The result is beautiful but still ballsy.<br> <br> Range and key: F major (one flat). 23x2 strings. C below middle C through D.<br> Lever changes: None.<br> <br> Good for: Weddings, parties, performance, therapeutic settings.<br> <br> Double-strung effects: The LH accompaniment frequently overlaps the RH melody range. Finger placements are suggested for playing echoed notes with alternating hands to work around or emphasize ringing strings. Since the alternate-hand echoing is not required, it’s a great piece to learn this technique on.<br> <br> Characteristics: Arpeggios and a syncopated melody. The RH never places more than an octave spread; the LH places 1-9 twice. There are a few four-note chords (LH 1-3-5-8); the rest of the chords are three notes, usually not inversions. The RH has almost no chords. There are two bars of sixteenth notes that can easily be substituted for eighths. The LH has two long-run patterns (1-5-8-9-10 and 1-5-8-9) which can be played with cross-unders or a wandering thumb.
