A lyrical and beautiful pedal harp solo, advanced-intermediate level. As heard on Stephanie Bennett's CD "Stories Seldom Told", available on iTunes, CDBaby.com and harpworld.com. The style moves from a peaceful folk-music feel to flowing impressionism and back again The composer says "I composed this piece one afternoon while watching my beloved cat sleeping. At the end of the recording, I had the engineer add the sound of a cat purring; so I recommend that for full effect, you purr at the conclusion of the piece. Or ask your audience to purr, as I usually do." Fingerings are included, and notations are explained in footnotes at the bottom of each page. If you print it out on paper, make sure the ODD numbered pages are on the RIGHT and the EVEN numbered pages are on the LEFT, which makes the page-turns doable (you turn the page after the right, ODD numbered pages).

I SEE STARS IN YOUR EYESA BEAUTIFUL, RHAPSODIC PIECE FOR SOLO HARP I See Stars in Your Eyes is a rhapsodic piece for solo harp (lever or pedal) with an improvisatory feel. The melody is flowing, the harmonies are elegant, and the mood is hauntingly tender. This five minute work makes for a great addition to the repertoire of either student or freelancer, and is perfect as a contrasting piece on a recital, atmosphere for a cocktail hour, or a casual serenade for family & friends. As a composer, a goal for Salazar is to create scores that help encourage classically trained musicians to improvise by writing cadenza-like improvisations into his pieces, making it so anyone at any level can improvise in performance. This approach lends to the most unique aspect of I See Stars in Your Eyes: the simple, easily performed improvisation section in the middle of the piece. Rather than imposing chord changes or fixed rhythm, this section has a written ostinato in the bass voice that is coupled with the freedom to improvise in the upper voice - allowing the performer to showcase their own musical voice.

Tauruses are dependable, gentle, sensual ... and maybe just a tiny bit stubborn.This is a short, 1-page original sketch for small harp, with a range from the F below middle C to the third E above middle C. It is written in A minor (aka no sharps or flats) and includes no accidentals. As such, it should fit pretty much any standard model of small harp with zero modifications, including any model of Harpsicle Harp (even the ones without levers), Roosebeck Pakistani harps, Harp-E, Musicmakers Sonnet 29, Mariani lap harp, or Dusty Strings Ravenna 26.Because this song is pretty slow and straightforward, it should be accessible even to newer beginners. Just keep in mind that the last part is a musical joke, and make sure your audience can tell from your facial expressions that you are in on it!Please note that the preview cuts off after the first line of score (as this composition is so short). The level of intensity isn't extremely difficult, save a few parts, and should be relatively easy to play for the rest of the time- timing and duration might be an issue. All other embellishments are up to the player and/or conductor, and dynamics are free to interpret as per usual.

Recently I heard this beautiful traditional song from Ukraine. I knew it would sound lovely on the harp. The song is a sad love song in which a nightingale also features. I thought the a-minor key suited it really well. One will need to set one lever (G ♯) and there will be no lever changes while paying. Fingerings are optional as usual. One needs to have a steady left hand so this is not for total beginners. This piece will also work on the piano but will need different fingering.Now we can only hope for peace in Ukraine.

They sang continuously to the rhythm of their paddles, usually old ballads they had learned in France. The very popular En roulant ma boule ( While Rolling My Ball), tells the story of a prince who shoots a white duck from whose eyes bright diamonds fall and from whose bill drops gold for all.MERRY WIDOW WALTZ: The Merry Widow Waltz is from the operetta The Merry Widow by the Austro-Hungarian composer Franz Lehar ( 1870-1948).MAMA GONE A’MOUNTAIN: Mama Gone A’Mountain is a variation of the lullaby Bye Baby Bunting. Published by Luis Anjos Teixeira (A0.889431). Blind Mary was composed by O`Carolan, it is an irresistible enchanting little piece. In this file there are 3 versions for 3 different sizes of harps. One in F for a big harp, one in Eb for medium size and the one in F for a little 3 oct. lap harp a very similar one to the one that usually O`Carolan used to perform. The melodic bass played with the left hand demands a little bit of coordination but the arrangement is focused in the main melody and is very easy to perform in all this 3 versions. The piece is so beautiful that I recommend it to be played always twice in a row. Some interpretation symbols are used as a performance suggestion. Most of the score is left to the interpretation of the artists involved, particularly the use of fingering. Feel Free to apply in this piece the Art and technic that expresses entirely your individual skills and taste. Have fun! The score was written on Finale. The sound file is the version in Eb for a medium size diatonic harp, it was produced with samplers from Garritan and conceived merely as an audio support for the presentation of the score. A very beautiful three-page improvisational version of this tune, Terra Beata, an old English melody. Unusual minor chords make this unique and compelling. Right hand has some improv passages and sustained notes. Arpeggiated left hand presents six bar introduction to the first verse. A short interlude precedes verse two, which is taken up an octave and filled in with chords. Running sixteenth figures round out the third variation that smooths out into eighths and a gorgeous rolled chord to finish.
