Winner of a Silver Ace Award from the Las Vegas Film Festival she has composed music for all types of media, including Film/TV, web and advertising, and her own personal music in audio CD and sheet music. In 2021 she took time off from composing to relocate her studio to Eastern Washington (Spokane) and is now getting started on new projects and pursuing music composition full time. While all eight of these Celtic holidays may not be truly ancient, several of them certainly are; some, like Samhain, have had Christianizing veils cast over them but have kept many of the pre-Christian customs associated with their celebration. Interested harpists will find a wealth of available information about these holidays, their names, and their customs. Imbolc, February 1st or 2nd, is also the Feast of St. Bridget or Brigid and is associated with the ancient goddess of that name in Celtic mythology.Ostara is the name sometimes given to the neo-Celtic celebration of the Spring Equinox. This piece depicts the dawn of the day and of the year. Beltaine, the joyous celebration of spring’s warmth and wealth of flowers and new greenery, occurs on the first day of May. The longest day of the year and the shortest night mark the Summer Solstice-Midsummer. Since long before Shakespeare’s funny and lyrical play A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the Summer Solstice has been associated with magic.Lughnasadh, on August 1st, is the festival of the first harvest. A version of the name of this festival survives in Manx and Scots Gaelic as well as in Irish Gaelic, and the name itself derives from Lugh, one of the most important Celtic godsMabon marks the Autumn Equinox and the end of summer; for me, it is a wistful moment of the year-extremely beautiful yet transitory. Samhain is one of the most significant celebrations in the Celtic year- the word itself means the end of summer, the beginning of the dark part of the year. It survives even in non-Celtic countries as Halloween, thanks to its adoption into the Christian calendar as All Hallows’ Eve. It is said to be the time when the veils between this world and the next are at their most thin.The Winter Solstice is marked in many European cultures as a time for celebrating the birth of the new light and a time for decorating with evergreens like holly. For The Holly King, modal and traditional versions of the carol The Holly and the Ivy, were used because of the lyrics’ references to the rising of the sun, and the running of the deer.

OF THE ROSE for solo harp- Of The Rose is a work in three movements for solo harp. Movement I begins in a pensive mood using stark, bare interconnecting melodic lines which occasionally coalesce to form a harmonic high points. Movement II starts out with a ground bass which states the melody, which then is transformed into several joyful variations. Movement III is a wistful setting of JOHNNY HAS GONE FOR A SOLDIER, a song from the revolutionary war era. The piece was written for harpist Elaine Christy of Princeton University. The Princeton area saw a decisive battle during the revolution, therefore the use of JOHNNY HAS GONE FOR A SOLDIER. Grade Level 6. There are no pedal markings so that the player can mark-up the part as they see fit.

But I can never get tired of the actual angels’ songs. A traditional tune sung by shepherd in the hills of of France, Angels We Have Heard On High brings the sound of angel song echoing through valleys in a retelling of the gospel of Luke. Arranging this carol for my second CD of Christmas carols, I arranged this version to bring the shine, the glory in the highest, the starry jubilation of angels appearing in the middle of the night. I featured oscillating broken chords and jumping fragments of the melody to make a perfect solo piece for Pedal or Celtic Lever harp, ideals for churches, holiday gatherings, senior facilities, intro-intermediate students practicing broken chords or anyone wanting to lift up a little glory!Celtic, Lever or Pedal HarpIntro-IntermediateKey of G with no lever or pedal changes.

She holds a B.A. in Music Education and M.A. in Irish Traditional Music Performance (fiddle, flute, and harp). Her experience as a symphonic musician, ethnic musician, and Film/TV composer led her to combining the three aspects of music into her own compositions and arrangements; storybook music in cinematic style. She is the owner of her recording and publishing label Blue Steer Studios(ASCAP) which allows her to combine her composing skills with knowledge of both the business and publishing aspects of music industry.
