This is a well known and well-loved Irish traditional tune. I played this at countless events. The first harp part is a complete solo part and the other two parts are optional. When playing as a duo one can choose the second or third part to play with the first. When a melody instrument plays the tune one can play the third part as an accompaniment. I always loved this in C but I will also upload this in the key of D.There are no lever changes and because the first part is quite high some smaller harps may be able to play this. The lowest note is C below middle C. Pianos can play this with different fingering.

All tunes were typeset to fit exactly on two facing pages to eliminate any page turns within a piece. If desired, the length of each piece can be lengthened by repeating some sections; section divisions are indicated by light double bar lines. Many people are unaccustomed to hearing tunes based on modes other than the Ionian or Aeolian. Therefore, you may find some of the melodic contours or harmonies to be unusual, unexpected, or even uncomfortable. There are only three lever changes in this entire book – and they all occur on the last note of the piece. Guitar chords are included so that the melody may be played by any C instrument, accompanied by chords on harp, lute, guitar, or keyboard. Also, the transcribed harp part can be played on any keyboard instrument with only minoradjustments.Dynamics, fingering, and metronome markings are provided throughout as an aid to performance. However, the harper should use whatever dynamics, fingerings, and tempos suit them, no matter what this book indicates! The maximum range needed for each piece is only 26 strings (3.5 octaves) from low C to high G. Therefore, it can be played on a small harp encompassing that range. Simply treat the C two octaves below middle C as the lowest C on your harp and adjust the octaves accordingly. Ignore any 8va indications and shorten glissandos as needed.

I like to think it gives spooky filmscore / Wednesday Addams vibes, with a neoclassical air, while still remaining very accessible to a less-experienced musician with a small, simple, or budget instrument.It is in the key of A minor (i.e. no sharps or flats) with no lever changes. It should also already fit the range of most common small harp models, including Harpsicle harps (even if your model has no levers!), Roosebeck Pakistani harps (it goes no lower than the F below middle C), Harp-E harps (it goes no higher than your high E), Dusty Strings Ravenna, Musicmakers Sonnet Lap Harp, and others. It can also, obviously, be played on any and all larger harp models.Played at full-speed, some of the turn-arounds in the right-hand, as well as the octave jump in the middle, can prove tricky (as you can see from my own playing in the video!). But played under tempo and more expressively, it could be accessible even to beginner/early-intermediate harpists, so long as you are learning to replace fingers and change directions.Please note that the preview cuts off after the first half-page of score. This solo harp arrangement of Arrietty's Song from Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli's film The Secret World of Arrietty is wonderfully versatile, while preserving the key and overall character of Cecile Corbel's original piece. It can be played on a lever harp as small as 26 strings, with the lowest note being the C below middle C and the highest being the third G above middle C. It only requires one lever (the A below middle C) to be moved to effectively simulate the chorus key change. It captures both the iconic original celtic harp part, as well as the full melody (with Japanese lyrics taken into account), and also the building/shifting energy that the original piece achieved by adding additional instruments. I think it also successfully solves the problem of remaining interesting and dynamic throughout despite the song being so repetitive. In short, I am particularly proud of this arrangement.In part because it is so note-y, and because it just keeps moving with no room to rest or breathe, this is definitely one of the harder and more advanced pieces I have arranged for small/lap lever harp. It would still sound nice played under tempo, but you will need to maintain a consistent rhythm throughout. I advise practicing the left hand as blocked chords and paying particular attention to the right-hand octaves in the second rendition of the chorus.Please note that the preview cuts off after the first half-page of score. This meditative, 4-page arrangement of the classic Christmas song White Christmas by Irving Berlin takes into account the unique needs of a very small lever harp that lacks the stability of instruments which rest on the floor. Lever adjustments are kept to an absolute minimum and allow the harpist enough time to stabilize the small harp while doing so without disrupting the flow of the song. The arrangement is specifically for 26-string (or larger) harps, like Rees Harpsicle (provided that your model has levers and you can play in 2 flats with a few C# accidentals), but it should also work on Dusty Strings harps, Hope Harps, Harp-E, or other small, portable harps. It is straight-forward enough to fit naturally under the fingers and promote fluent sight-reading (because who has time during the holidays to practice?), but complex enough to inspire rich artistic expression and transfix your listeners. The first section mimics the strumming of a guitar beneath a higher melody line, and the second, played an octave lower, sounds more like a simple, nostalgic piano arrangement of the song.
