Perform this original work of Celtic Irish setting from her CD (Gypsy Road,2012) scored for harp ensemble of intermediate to advanced players.  Scored in E minor with no lever changes it features a creative slip-jig with lush and effective harmonies.  A rare opportunity to showcase programmatic skills for the harp ensemble.  The dark and mysterious musical message will touch the hearts of all who hear it.About the CompositionI wrote this when I was very angry at the world.  Someday I might meet a black hound on a dark night... and we’ll both go hunting together.Black Dogs,  Black Hounds, The Hounds of Hell,  Dogs of Hell,  Gabriel Hounds, Yell Hounds,  Barghest,  Black Dog of the Hanging Hills, Gurt Dog or the Hounds of Herne the Hunter… by whatever name, they are a common feature in the folklore of the British Isles.  The Black Hounds of Cŵn Annwn are the spectral hounds of Annwn, the otherworld of Welsh myth.  Early Christians came to dub these mythical creatures as The Hounds of Hell or Dogs of Hell and erroneously theorized they were therefore owned by Satan.  However, the Annwn of medieval Welsh tradition is an otherworldly paradise and not a hell or abode of dead souls. The Black Hounds are a nocturnal apparition, and their appearance was regarded as a portent of death. They are supposed to hunt on specific nights in the autumn and winter when it is believed that the howling of these huge dogs foretold death to anyone who heard them. *************************************************About the Composer Laura Olson (ASCAP) is a retired California music educator with over 30 years of experience specializing in stringed instruments and orchestras. She holds a B.A. in Music Education and M.A. in Irish Traditional Music Performance (fiddle, flute, and harp). Her experience as a symphonic musician, ethnic musician, and Film/TV composer led her to combining the three aspects of music into her own compositions and arrangements; storybook music in cinematic style. She is the owner of her recording and publishing label Blue Steer Studios(ASCAP) which allows her to combine her composing skills with knowledge of both the business and publishing aspects of music industry. The Black Hounds are a nocturnal apparition, and their appearance was regarded as a portent of death. She holds a B.A. in Music Education and M.A. in Irish Traditional Music Performance (fiddle, flute, and harp). Her experience as a symphonic musician, ethnic musician, and Film/TV composer led her to combining the three aspects of music into her own compositions and arrangements; storybook music in cinematic style. She is the owner of her recording and publishing label Blue Steer Studios(ASCAP) which allows her to combine her composing skills with knowledge of both the business and publishing aspects of music industry. This fantasy is a romantic work based on the opera La Traviata, one of Verdi's masterpieces.It uses the great capabilities of the harp to show the emotions provoked in the main moments of the opera.The main arias are modified through the harp spectrum. The whole composition follows my interpretation of the opera,my way of thinking and logic. The original themes are modified and combined with my own themes, transitions , and Cadenzas.I combine the two of the most important tunes in the opera: Libiamo and Addio del'passato. Tha most significant thing for me is that they show two very important and contrasting moments in Violeta's life: wnen she falls in love and is happy, and when she senses the near approach of death. I recorded a CD with different opera fantasies, and this inspired me to compose my fantasy on La Traviata. Enjoy!

Eine Kleine Nachtmusik (Serenade No. 13 for strings in G major) is one of Mozart?s most beloved works. Written in 1787, it was scored for two violins, viola, and cello with optional double bass. The German title means ?a little serenade,? though it is often translated more literally as ?a little night music.?
In this arrangement of the second movement (?Romanza,? meaning ?Romance?), I have omitted the frenetic middle section of the movement, so that what is left is uniformly gracious, calm and romantic - lovely for concerts, for background music or for wedding processionals.

The sentiment expressed by the title is especially perfect for weddings! It also makes a lovely harp solo for any elegant occasion.
It is meticulously notated with harp fingerings, pedal changes, muffles, and a page of performance notes explaining all the notations. If printed on paper, the one page turn (after the second page of music) is carefully planned to be doable. There are 4 pages of music, 1 page of performance notes (and some extra pages to make sure that the page turns turn out correctly).
The level is intermediate for pedal harpists.

A lyrical and beautiful pedal harp solo, advanced-intermediate level. As heard on Stephanie Bennett's CD "Stories Seldom Told", available on iTunes, CDBaby.com and harpworld.com. The style moves from a peaceful folk-music feel to flowing impressionism and back again The composer says "I composed this piece one afternoon while watching my beloved cat sleeping. At the end of the recording, I had the engineer add the sound of a cat purring; so I recommend that for full effect, you purr at the conclusion of the piece. Or ask your audience to purr, as I usually do." Fingerings are included, and notations are explained in footnotes at the bottom of each page. If you print it out on paper, make sure the ODD numbered pages are on the RIGHT and the EVEN numbered pages are on the LEFT, which makes the page-turns doable (you turn the page after the right, ODD numbered pages).

As recorded on his CD The Crystal Spring, Ray Pool brings us these six Celtic hymns in print. Each hymn is arranged in two keys, one for harps tuned in flats and one for harps tuned in C. Beautiful arrangements, improvisatory in nature and each is at least three pages long, utilizing the harp's full range. Intermediate level, with lush ringing harmonies.
