The Black Hounds are a nocturnal apparition, and their appearance was regarded as a portent of death. They are supposed to hunt on specific nights in the autumn and winter when it is believed that the howling of these huge dogs foretold death to anyone who heard them. *************************************************About the Composer Laura Olson (ASCAP) is a retired California music educator with over 30 years of experience specializing in stringed instruments and orchestras. She holds a B.A. in Music Education and M.A. in Irish Traditional Music Performance (fiddle, flute, and harp). Her experience as a symphonic musician, ethnic musician, and Film/TV composer led her to combining the three aspects of music into her own compositions and arrangements; storybook music in cinematic style. She is the owner of her recording and publishing label Blue Steer Studios(ASCAP) which allows her to combine her composing skills with knowledge of both the business and publishing aspects of music industry. Winner of a Silver Ace Award from the Las Vegas Film Festival she has composed music for all types of media, including Film/TV, web and advertising, and her own personal music in audio CD and sheet music. In 2021 she took time off from composing to relocate her studio to Eastern Washington (Spokane) and is now getting started on new projects and pursuing music composition full time. Student pieces from level 1 to level 3.This collection has some very easy pieces. The most difficult, Baron’s Blues, is a jazzy piece that is actually easier on lever harp than on the pedal harp, because all the accidentals use lever pre-sets! This is also true of Walkin’ Wally. Danny Solves the Mystery sounds much more difficult than it is. Hands cross, but do not play at the same time. Lullaby for Smokey gently puts the hands together in easy patterns. Walkin’ Wally is more challenging, but my students enjoyed it so much they practiced! 60’s rock vamp and walking bass makes it fun. Grumpy Dreams of Flying was composed for a student who wanted something mysterious sounding. Dreamy glissandi throughout most of this piece create the effect. Chasing Buddy is fast and cute, just like the Jack Russel Terrier it’s named after. Baron’s Blues is supposed to sound like a whiny puppy who just wants someone to play with him. Not too fast! Forest Friends has a new age feel with the additional benefit of being an etude for interval practice. Buckwheat’s Baby is a study on I, IV and V7 chords.

Published by Luis Anjos Teixeira (A0.889432). I found this Passacaglia from Bach among some of my own handwritten manuscripts. It is a phenomenal piece. Bach was definitive a great artist, a Genius. Passacaglia is an Italian word. This music form was originated in early 17th-century Spain as a strummed interlude between instrumentally accompanied dances or songs. In this piece we can clearly experience this „Spanish strumming between „Bars 137 and 145. The passacaglia was redefined in the late 1620s by Italian composer Girolamo Frescobaldi, who transformed it into a series of continuous variations over an ostinato bass pattern (which itself may be varied). I added to this piece some interpretation symbols and rearranged it for the harp but every single note was left as it would be found in the original version. The piece is appropriate for advanced performers. Most of the score is left to the interpretation of the artists involved, particularly the use of fingering. The piece is difficult but very Human. It requires focused endurance and some practice on certain passages. Once learned you will also be playing much better. Feel Free to apply in this piece the Art and technic that expresses entirely your individual skills and taste. Have fun! It is a piece that can be used in many different kinds of situations, from a serious concert hall to a marriage, it is perfect for Christmas celebrations and all other kinds of Spiritual events. When performed Live It will give you back a great feedback from the public, you will always want to have it in your repertoire. The score was written on Finale. He lived between 1670 - 1738. I Arranged this piece for a lap harp, added some chords to be performed with the left hand and a few ornaments where introduced. Easy to perform in all kinds of events. So I decided to publish the work. It has a dance like structure and a nostalgic character, it can be played faster or slower and it is easy to learn. Published by Luis Anjos Teixeira (A0.889431). Blind Mary was composed by O`Carolan, it is an irresistible enchanting little piece. In this file there are 3 versions for 3 different sizes of harps. One in F for a big harp, one in Eb for medium size and the one in F for a little 3 oct. lap harp a very similar one to the one that usually O`Carolan used to perform. The melodic bass played with the left hand demands a little bit of coordination but the arrangement is focused in the main melody and is very easy to perform in all this 3 versions. The piece is so beautiful that I recommend it to be played always twice in a row. Some interpretation symbols are used as a performance suggestion. Most of the score is left to the interpretation of the artists involved, particularly the use of fingering. Known as „The Last Irish Bard, he is an Honored and Beloved Irish composer. He became an itinerante harpist after losing his eyesight to smallpox. Extremely talented, he composed a vast repertoire of music and left also a well known number of real good stories to tell due to his rich temperament, social caracter and spicy sense of humor. The piece is thou very simple and easy to perform. It is appropriate for the harp and it sounds great on any kind of harp. When using a little lap harp, one can easily transpose the bass voice an octave higher. It is a flexible piece, you can play it slower or a little faster and even the arpeggio in the end that becomes quite easy after some practice could be replaced by a simple glissando. Luis Anjos Teixeira „Now comes the Little Story The Volcano`s Lake was composed on a volcano called Pico that stands out about 2000 meters above see level right in the middle of the Atlantic ocean. From the bottom of the ocean to its pick it is higher than mount Everest. I like to know that there are an enormous amount of different species of whales that live in this area and many others that go there strictly for romance. I went there to perform with the harp but was at the same time deeply morning the death of my Dear Cat Mary Jane that tragically passed away the day before the flight. In this isle I was having at night strange dreams of epic battles and fights between flying Angels and Demons. In one of these dreams „Time and Matter were a byproduct of „Music itself. The wind was blowing, the volcano was dancing and the water on the lake was whispering enchanting melodies. As soon as I woke up I wrote some notes before they vanished away, just a fragment of an idea of what I was listening in the dream. I named it „The Volcano`s Lake, because the „Lake was comforting me with its melodies, I realized that my tears were also becoming the lake itself and in this lake I was becoming one with Mary Jane and all the rest of the Universe.
