Published by Luis Anjos Teixeira (A0.889432). I found this Passacaglia from Bach among some of my own handwritten manuscripts. It is a phenomenal piece. Bach was definitive a great artist, a Genius. Passacaglia is an Italian word. This music form was originated in early 17th-century Spain as a strummed interlude between instrumentally accompanied dances or songs. In this piece we can clearly experience this „Spanish strumming between „Bars 137 and 145. The passacaglia was redefined in the late 1620s by Italian composer Girolamo Frescobaldi, who transformed it into a series of continuous variations over an ostinato bass pattern (which itself may be varied). I added to this piece some interpretation symbols and rearranged it for the harp but every single note was left as it would be found in the original version. The piece is appropriate for advanced performers. Most of the score is left to the interpretation of the artists involved, particularly the use of fingering. The piece is difficult but very Human. It requires focused endurance and some practice on certain passages. Once learned you will also be playing much better. Feel Free to apply in this piece the Art and technic that expresses entirely your individual skills and taste. Have fun! It is a piece that can be used in many different kinds of situations, from a serious concert hall to a marriage, it is perfect for Christmas celebrations and all other kinds of Spiritual events. When performed Live It will give you back a great feedback from the public, you will always want to have it in your repertoire. The score was written on Finale. The sound file is the version in D minor for a concert harp, it was produced with samplers from Garritan and conceived merely as an audio support for the presentation of this score. The piece is thou very simple and easy to perform. It is appropriate for the harp and it sounds great on any kind of harp. When using a little lap harp, one can easily transpose the bass voice an octave higher. It is a flexible piece, you can play it slower or a little faster and even the arpeggio in the end that becomes quite easy after some practice could be replaced by a simple glissando. You should feel Free to apply in this piece the Art and technic that expresses entirely your individual skills, Your taste and Your Soul. It is a piece that can be used in many different kinds of situations, from the serious concert hall to a funeral, in Easter or even Christmas celebrations and all other kinds of Spiritual events or even joyful social meetings. Luis Anjos Teixeira „Now comes the Little Story The Volcano`s Lake was composed on a volcano called Pico that stands out about 2000 meters above see level right in the middle of the Atlantic ocean. From the bottom of the ocean to its pick it is higher than mount Everest. I like to know that there are an enormous amount of different species of whales that live in this area and many others that go there strictly for romance. I went there to perform with the harp but was at the same time deeply morning the death of my Dear Cat Mary Jane that tragically passed away the day before the flight. In this isle I was having at night strange dreams of epic battles and fights between flying Angels and Demons. In one of these dreams „Time and Matter were a byproduct of „Music itself. The wind was blowing, the volcano was dancing and the water on the lake was whispering enchanting melodies. As soon as I woke up I wrote some notes before they vanished away, just a fragment of an idea of what I was listening in the dream. I named it „The Volcano`s Lake, because the „Lake was comforting me with its melodies, I realized that my tears were also becoming the lake itself and in this lake I was becoming one with Mary Jane and all the rest of the Universe. Student pieces from level 1 to level 3.This collection has some very easy pieces. The most difficult, Baron’s Blues, is a jazzy piece that is actually easier on lever harp than on the pedal harp, because all the accidentals use lever pre-sets! This is also true of Walkin’ Wally. Danny Solves the Mystery sounds much more difficult than it is. Hands cross, but do not play at the same time. Lullaby for Smokey gently puts the hands together in easy patterns. Walkin’ Wally is more challenging, but my students enjoyed it so much they practiced! 60’s rock vamp and walking bass makes it fun. Grumpy Dreams of Flying was composed for a student who wanted something mysterious sounding. Dreamy glissandi throughout most of this piece create the effect. Chasing Buddy is fast and cute, just like the Jack Russel Terrier it’s named after. Baron’s Blues is supposed to sound like a whiny puppy who just wants someone to play with him. Not too fast! Forest Friends has a new age feel with the additional benefit of being an etude for interval practice. Buckwheat’s Baby is a study on I, IV and V7 chords.

The Harp Serenade and Disintegration explores the many idiomatic sounds of the harp while exploring the diverse sounds it can create through extended techniques. Serenade focuses on melody and timbre with the extended technique of tapping on the soundboard as a main element. Disintegration mixes sounds and inspiration from Gershwin, Brubeck and Salzedo. The focus is on rhythm and glissandos. The piece is in a quasi-rondo form that unravels the melody and rhythmic refrain as the piece moves in time. The extended techniques used in Disintegration are soundboard tapping, harmonics, and vertical fingernail sliding up the strings. Six tunes arranged for a duo of pedal harp and lever harp. The pedal (teacher) part is written in the spirit of parlor music of a century ago. It is lush and arpeggiated, easily sight read by the advanced harpist, and of intermediate difficulty, with the student part in small cue notes. The student (easy) part compliments the teacher part, and consists mainly of melody, single notes in both hands, no chords, very easy, some drones in the left hand. The right hand plays quite high, so a knowledge of notes above the treble staff is necessary. Dynamics and fingerings are marked. Each tune is written to segue into the next, making it a very nice recital piece.
