Harp - Intermediate - Digital Download Composed by William Mahan. Repertoire, European, Recital. 34 pages. Published by Afghan Press Music for the Harp
Gentle and flowing, you'll find a lyric right hand melody supported by lush chords. Truly inspired, these compositions can be used for any type of situation: for yourself, for healing music, for background music, for recitals. The music is not difficult, but the left hand does require some crossing over and under. True to the Italian flavor, some of the melodies incorporate triplet and mordent ornamentation. There are a few lever changes, some fingerings are included. All music is written in keys of either C or G. The final tune, All the Colors of Rome, a 5-minute plus performance piece, is gorgeous. Titles: Bellagio Blue, Warm Sienna, Sicilian Scarlet, Tuscan Gold, Venetian Red, Naples Yellow, Vatican Violet, All the Colors of Rome.Gentle and flowing, you'll find a lyric right hand melody supported by lush chords. By Journey. Arranged by Karen Peterson. Sheet Music Single, Solo Part. 6 pages. Published by Karen Peterson
Your audience’s memory of this Eighties rock anthem by Journey will be playing along in their head—from the original album, a live performance, The Sopranos, Glee, karaoke, or all of the above. But they’ve never heard it before on a harp.<br> <br> This arrangement makes good use of the double-strung by using both sides for repeated notes and letting the accompaniment hand overlap the melody. The result is beautiful but still ballsy.<br> <br> Range and key: F major (one flat). 23x2 strings. C below middle C through D.<br> Lever changes: None.<br> <br> Good for: Weddings, parties, performance, therapeutic settings.<br> <br> Double-strung effects: The LH accompaniment frequently overlaps the RH melody range. Finger placements are suggested for playing echoed notes with alternating hands to work around or emphasize ringing strings. Since the alternate-hand echoing is not required, it’s a great piece to learn this technique on.<br> <br> Characteristics: Arpeggios and a syncopated melody. The RH never places more than an octave spread; the LH places 1-9 twice. There are a few four-note chords (LH 1-3-5-8); the rest of the chords are three notes, usually not inversions. The RH has almost no chords. There are two bars of sixteenth notes that can easily be substituted for eighths. The LH has two long-run patterns (1-5-8-9-10 and 1-5-8-9) which can be played with cross-unders or a wandering thumb. The RH has only two cross-overs.<br> <br> Finger placement: Finger number suggestions are provided for key phrases. Numbers above the notes are suggestions for the RH (marked with “R” or “R#” when they occur in the bottom staff). Numbers below the notes are suggestions for the LH (marked with “L” or “L#” when they occur in the top staff). To see what I mean, view the PDF of finger placement examples in “Don’t Stop Believin’: www.EnjoyTheHarp.com/s/dont-stop-believin-notes-enjoy-the-harp.pdf<br> <br> Notation: Chord symbols and lyrics are provided. Treble clef in both staves. To avoid switching between bass clef and treble in the accompaniment, 8vb lines are used for the low Cs, Ds, and Es (which means that you play an octave below what’s written). Low Fs use 8vb sometimes, so if you see a lot of low ledger lines, don’t worry: it’s that F below middle C. Instead of counting the lines, you can look at the chord symbols to confirm.<br> <br> Length: 6 pages. 106 measures. 4:00–5:00 minutes, depending on tempo.<br> <br> Page turns: If you are printing, double-side pages 2-3 and 4-5 to minimize page turns. Line breaks have been made with printed or single-page-tablet turns in mind; you can pick up some accompaniment notes in the RH to turn with the LH.<br> <br> Analysis and performance notes at www.EnjoyTheHarp.com/dont-stop-believinYour audience’s memory of this Eighties rock anthem by Journey will be playing along in their head—from the original album, a live performance, The Sopranos, Glee, karaoke, or all of the above. Composed by Pyotr Ilich Tchaikovsky. Arranged by Luis Anjos Teixeira. Romantic Period, Repertoire, Recital. Individual Part, Solo Part. 6 pages. Published by Luis Anjos Teixeira
The Children's Album is dedicated to Tchaikovsky's favorite nephew, Vladimir Davydov. On 12/24 December 1878, Tchaikovsky wrote to Lev Davydov: "Tell Bobik that the music has been printed with pictures, that the music was composed by Uncle Petya, and that on it is written Dedicated to Volodya Davydov. The silly little fellow will not understand what dedicated means... Even so, Bobik is an inimitably delightful figure when he's playing, and he might look at the notes, and think that a whole symphony is dedicated to him“.<br> <br> In a letter of 30 April/12 May 1878 to Nadezhda von Meck, the composer wrote: "A while ago I thought that it would not be a bad idea to make a small contribution to the stock of children's musical literature, which is very modest. I want to create a series of little individual pieces just for children, and with an attractive title, like Schumann`s.<br> <br> Some months before this letter was written, while staying in Florence on 14/26 February, Tchaikovsky told Pyotr Jurgenson that he wanted "to write a number of easy pieces, like Kinderstück“. Evidently, the idea of creating a collection of pieces for young people had not been abandoned by the composer, and after his return to Kamenka in April he decided to begin composition. In the aforementioned letter to Nadezhda von Meck, he informed her: "Tomorrow I shall start working on my collection of miniatures for children".<br> <br> On 1/13 May the composer wrote to Anatoly Tchaikovsky: "I'm working well and have done rather a lot". On 4/16 May the sketches for all 24 pieces were ready. Shortly afterwards, Tchaikovsky accepted an invitation from Nadezhda von Meck to stay at her Brailov estate until the end of May/beginning of June, before spending a few days in Moscow; from there he went to spend five days with his friend Nikolay Kondratyev at Nizy, and in mid/late June he called at Kiev, before returning to Verbovka. In the days following his arrival, he began to put the finishing touches to all the pieces written in April and May. The fair copy of the Children's Album was begun, it seems, on 13/25 July.<br> <br> By 20 July/1 August the copying out was completed, and on 21 July/2 August the composer told Nadezhda von Meck that he was working on the Liturgy of Saint John Chrysostom.<br> <br> On 29 July/10 August the manuscript of the Children's Album, along with a number of other compositions, was sent to Pyotr Jurgenson in Moscow. In October, after the proofs had been corrected, the album was published.<br> <br> <br> <br> P.S.- Other than a modest suggestion for an interpretation, this arrangements remain absolute faithful to the original composition. <br> <br> The first version is in the original key of g minor, the second is transposed to „a minor“, the third one is intended for a little lap harp and transposed to d minor. It sounds better in the original key of g minor. I used a lot the d minor version and performed it with my little harp very often, always experiencing a very deep musical feedback.<br> <br> A little nuance was added to the arrangements, thus obliged by its minimal use on the original manuscripts. <br> <br> I included the original long and expressive leggato bows and left out the staccatos for the left hand between the bars 17 and 20. I felt somehow awkward when applying this technic on the harp myself. <br> <br> May be the staccatos suites you best, and you should try it.<br> <br> The score was written on Finale.<br> <br> The sound file was produced with samplers from Garritan, <br> <br> intended as an audio support for the presentation of the score.<br> <br> A reproduction of Tchaikovsky`s original manuscript is added to the file as a reference to the original sources of this composition, it is an extra bonus intentionally didactic and obviously not included in the price of the arrangement itself.<br> <br> Thank you very much for taking your time to read this text and to listen to the file.<br> <br> I hope you enjoy the music.<br> <br> The Children's Album is dedicated to Tchaikovsky's favorite nephew, Vladimir Davydov. Arrangements of Simple Gifts has been sung at three US Presidential Inaugurations (1985, 1993 and 2009).  The Multi-level pieces were initially arranged in an A Version. When that was completed, it was then simplified to form the B Version. The B Version has thinner lines and allows more time for placing the fingers. The purpose is to permit harpists of various playing levels to enjoy performing together. In the key of D, the melody is divided evenly between parts. There are no pedal or lever changes. Dynamics are clearly marked. Shaker songs were quite often sung in rounds.

Harp - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.928333 Composed by Rory Dall. Arranged by Karen Peterson. Celtic,Contemporary,Folk. Score. 4 pages. Karen Peterson #5993785. Published by Karen Peterson (A0.928333). WATCH THE D DORIAN VERSION: You are viewing the arrangement for lap harp, which is in the key of A dorian. To hear the D dorian version played on a larger harp, go to www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0-Kg0LifaUOverview: This tune was published by Daniel Dow in the 1770s and was probably composed by Roderick Morison (~1656-1713). My double-strung harp arrangement in the dorian mode has rolled, echoed chords, highlighting the depth of sound we can get from having two sets of strings. The accompaniment hand traverses the entire range of the harp, often overlapping the melody hand.Key and range: A dorian (one sharp). 21x2 strings. G below middle C through F. (LARGER HARPS: For harps with C below middle C or lower, get the D dorian version here: www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/rorie-lament-for-double-strung-harp-digital-sheet-music/21815669)Lever changes: None.Good for: Performance, memorials, therapeutic settings.Double-strung effects: The LH accompaniment frequently overlaps the RH melody range. Rolled accompaniment chords often contain the same note as the melody, creating a rolled echo. Some chords that aren’t rolled have doubled notes in both hands, creating depth. The repetition of LH patterns makes this a great piece to learn overlapping hands with.Characteristics: Neither hand needs to place more than an octave spread. There are some four-note chords (always LH 1-3-5-8). The RH has almost no chords. Few of the chords are inversions. There are very few sixteenth notes; no more than three played together with one hand. The LH has two long-run patterns (1-5-8-9-10 and 1-5-8-9) which can be played with cross-unders or a wandering thumb. The RH has a few cross-overs/unders.Finger placement: Finger number suggestions are provided for key phrases. Numbers above the notes are suggestions for the RH (marked with R or R# when they occur in the bottom staff). Numbers below the notes are suggestions for the LH (marked with L or L# when they occur in the top staff).Notation: Chord symbols are provided. Treble clef is used for both staves, with 8va for very high notes. Length: 4 pages. 60 measures, plus 12 if you take the repeat. 4 minutes.Page turns: If you are printing, double-side pages 2 and 3 so that there is only one page turn. The RH can be used on all notes of page 2’s last measure, so that the LH can turn the page. If you are using single pages on a tablet, you can do something similar at the end of page 3. Page 1’s turn is manageable. Contact me after purchase if you’d like a version that fits on two pages: EnjoyTheHarp@gmail.com

Harp - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.797465 Composed by Louise Trotter. Instructional. Score. 67 pages. Afghan Press Music for the Harp #4855295. Published by Afghan Press Music for the Harp (A0.797465). This revised book combines three of Ms. Trotter's popular books: Getting Started in Pop Harp, The Creative Folk Harpist, and Let's Play Country Harp.Included are compilations from workshop presentations into this book which contains repertoire suggestions, ways to tune your harp, scales and chords, intervals, seventh chords and minor scales, diminished chords, voicing, inversions, bass patterns, chord progressions, steps in making an arrangement , introductions, endings, and how to play variations on the melody. To be a creative and versatile pop harpist, classic training is valuable and necessary. However, the habit of playing every note as written is sometimes hard to break when learning to improvise. The act of playing notes spontaneously may be overwhelming to the classically trained harpist. There are more and more written arrangements for popular music available to buy, but is satisfying to have the skills to arrange one's own pieces. It is possible to play popular music from a fake book or by ear, with training. The suggestions in this book should help bridge the gap from classical to pop, and hopefully provide some tools for the improvisation necessary for playing popular music. These ideas come from Louise's own experience, and from workshops with nationally knows pop and jazz harpists. It is hoped that the material presented will open up new avenues for the harpist to arrange and improvise in order to widen opportunities to perform. With simple melodies and uncomplicated harmonies, this book also instructs the harpist on the basics of achieving that country-western sound, as well as techniques on imitating such traditional country western instruments as guitar, banjo, fiddle, string bass, and piano. A good book for any harpist wishing to enlarge their repertoire to include this style of music.

A maid whom there were none to praise and very few to love. A violet by a mossy stone half hidden from the eye Fair, as the star when only one is shining in the sky. She lived unknown, and few could know when Lucy ceased to be; But she is in her grave, and oh, the difference to me!

Harp - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.797298 Arranged by Joyce Rice. Celtic,Concert,Folk,Holiday. Score. 22 pages. Afghan Press Music for the Harp #4802082. Published by Afghan Press Music for the Harp (A0.797298). These ensembles, Danny Boy and The Harp That Once Thro' Tara's Halls, are accessible to many harp sizes, and to playing levers from rank beginning to intermediate, so that all your harping friends can play with you. If a duo is all you can muster, Parts One and Two make complete pieces. Parts Three and Four add harmonic, rhythmic and/or tonal richness. There are also beginner parts with each piece. When there are enough players, it helps to double the melody. All parts are written for two hands, but less advanced players may wish to play one hand as marked in many parts. There are rehearsal numbers every five measures to make it easier for everyone to be in the same place.
