It will bring so much peace and comfort to those who listen to you play it! There are some fun techniques like lever changes and a left-hand harmonic.Difficulty Level and Skills Required: Early-Intermediate. The right hand plays a simple melody line with some two-finger chords. The left hand has rolled chords, a harmonic, and 4-2-1 patterns. There are a couple of lever changes throughout.Type of Harp: For big and small harps, 26 strings and larger.Range: The lowest note is C, one octave below middle C. The highest note is G, two and a half octaves above middle C.Levers/Pedals: In the key of C major. There are a couple of F lever changes throughout. The last rose of summer was written by Thomas Moore to an existing Irish melody. O my love is like a red, red rose was written by Robert Burns to an existing Scottish melody. These two poets used existing melodies to add their own poetry and turn it into a song. Both songs are well known in the Celtic traditions and also fit well together. I used to play them in the key of C years ago, but on revisiting my old arrangements I preferred the key of F. There are no lever changes but there are plenty of full rolled chords. So an intermediate level of playing is required.I have added dynamics but they can be changed if you like. Both songs should not be played too fast. Metronome speeds are an indication only. The most difficult, Baron’s Blues, is a jazzy piece that is actually easier on lever harp than on the pedal harp, because all the accidentals use lever pre-sets! This is also true of Walkin’ Wally. Danny Solves the Mystery sounds much more difficult than it is. Hands cross, but do not play at the same time. Lullaby for Smokey gently puts the hands together in easy patterns. Walkin’ Wally is more challenging, but my students enjoyed it so much they practiced! 60’s rock vamp and walking bass makes it fun. Grumpy Dreams of Flying was composed for a student who wanted something mysterious sounding. Dreamy glissandi throughout most of this piece create the effect. Chasing Buddy is fast and cute, just like the Jack Russel Terrier it’s named after. Baron’s Blues is supposed to sound like a whiny puppy who just wants someone to play with him. Not too fast! Forest Friends has a new age feel with the additional benefit of being an etude for interval practice. Buckwheat’s Baby is a study on I, IV and V7 chords.

Imbolc, February 1st or 2nd, is also the Feast of St. Bridget or Brigid and is associated with the ancient goddess of that name in Celtic mythology.Ostara is the name sometimes given to the neo-Celtic celebration of the Spring Equinox. This piece depicts the dawn of the day and of the year. Beltaine, the joyous celebration of spring’s warmth and wealth of flowers and new greenery, occurs on the first day of May. The longest day of the year and the shortest night mark the Summer Solstice-Midsummer. Since long before Shakespeare’s funny and lyrical play A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the Summer Solstice has been associated with magic.Lughnasadh, on August 1st, is the festival of the first harvest. A version of the name of this festival survives in Manx and Scots Gaelic as well as in Irish Gaelic, and the name itself derives from Lugh, one of the most important Celtic godsMabon marks the Autumn Equinox and the end of summer; for me, it is a wistful moment of the year-extremely beautiful yet transitory. Samhain is one of the most significant celebrations in the Celtic year- the word itself means the end of summer, the beginning of the dark part of the year. When using a little lap harp, one can easily transpose the bass voice an octave higher. Luis Anjos Teixeira „Now comes the Little Story The Volcano`s Lake was composed on a volcano called Pico that stands out about 2000 meters above see level right in the middle of the Atlantic ocean. From the bottom of the ocean to its pick it is higher than mount Everest. I like to know that there are an enormous amount of different species of whales that live in this area and many others that go there strictly for romance. I went there to perform with the harp but was at the same time deeply morning the death of my Dear Cat Mary Jane that tragically passed away the day before the flight. In this isle I was having at night strange dreams of epic battles and fights between flying Angels and Demons. In one of these dreams „Time and Matter were a byproduct of „Music itself. The wind was blowing, the volcano was dancing and the water on the lake was whispering enchanting melodies. As soon as I woke up I wrote some notes before they vanished away, just a fragment of an idea of what I was listening in the dream. I named it „The Volcano`s Lake, because the „Lake was comforting me with its melodies, I realized that my tears were also becoming the lake itself and in this lake I was becoming one with Mary Jane and all the rest of the Universe. Thanks to Claudia Eppelt for the all the Love the wonderful painting and cover design. This is an Irish traditional tune. It is claimed O'Carolan wrote it but it is based on an old Irish air so it may not have been just him who wrote it. I have played this tune in many different arrangements and keys but I quite like this one. It has suggested fingering written in. This tune can be learned by any harpist of intermediate standard with a lever harp . From grade 3 upwards. If another key is desired I can upload it as well. When I upload more tunes I fully intend to sell 3 tunes for the price of 2 if that is possible. This tune can also be played on the piano with different fingering.

It is written in A minor (aka no sharps or flats) and includes no accidentals. As such, it should fit pretty much any standard model of small harp with zero modifications, including any model of Harpsicle Harp (even the ones without levers), Roosebeck Pakistani harps, Harp-E, Musicmakers Sonnet 29, or Dusty Strings Ravenna 26.Because you will need to silence each chord immediately after playing to get that sharp, abbrasive, almost staccato sound from my video (something I didn't have the tools to notate fully in the score), this song is trickier than it looks and is not really a new beginner piece, despite the simple notation. This meditative, 4-page arrangement of the classic Christmas song White Christmas by Irving Berlin takes into account the unique needs of a very small lever harp that lacks the stability of instruments which rest on the floor. Lever adjustments are kept to an absolute minimum and allow the harpist enough time to stabilize the small harp while doing so without disrupting the flow of the song. The arrangement is specifically for 26-string (or larger) harps, like Rees Harpsicle (provided that your model has levers and you can play in 2 flats with a few C# accidentals), but it should also work on Dusty Strings harps, Hope Harps, Harp-E, or other small, portable harps. It is straight-forward enough to fit naturally under the fingers and promote fluent sight-reading (because who has time during the holidays to practice?), but complex enough to inspire rich artistic expression and transfix your listeners. The first section mimics the strumming of a guitar beneath a higher melody line, and the second, played an octave lower, sounds more like a simple, nostalgic piano arrangement of the song.

I like to think it gives spooky filmscore / Wednesday Addams vibes, with a neoclassical air, while still remaining very accessible to a less-experienced musician with a small, simple, or budget instrument.It is in the key of A minor (i.e. no sharps or flats) with no lever changes. It should also already fit the range of most common small harp models, including Harpsicle harps (even if your model has no levers!), Roosebeck Pakistani harps (it goes no lower than the F below middle C), Harp-E harps (it goes no higher than your high E), Dusty Strings Ravenna, Musicmakers Sonnet Lap Harp, and others. It can also, obviously, be played on any and all larger harp models.Played at full-speed, some of the turn-arounds in the right-hand, as well as the octave jump in the middle, can prove tricky (as you can see from my own playing in the video!). This is another beloved tune written by the well loved blind harper Turlough O'Carolan. I have arranged it for lever harp. l I have added all fingering and dynamics. The difficulty is around grade 2 to 4 level. It needs a lever change while playing and the lever needs to be changed back quickly. It also shows some sliding, so 1-1 fingering. But fingering is always optional so if you or your teacher don't like it, change it. The key is G-major so you need to have an F sharp lever, and a C sharp lever for the lever change. You can use it for piano as well.(with different fingering).
