This arrangement is very elegant and satisfying to play. In this piece, you’ll get practice with arpeggios, jumping between registers in the left hand, some quick lever changes, and glissandos. If you learn along with the Video Course, Carrie will give plenty of reminders to reinforce your hand position and help you master those lever changes so they feel very smooth and controlled rather than frantic. She’ll also show you how to bring this arrangement to life through dynamics and playing with expression!Difficulty Level and Skills Required: Mid-Intermediate. The right hand plays the melody line with quick placing and some interesting rhythms. The left hand has the accompaniment with many 10th intervals, ascending 4-2-1 shapes, and jumping between registers. There are multiple lever changes and glissandos throughout.Type of Harp: 33 strings and larger.Range: The lowest note is D almost two octaves below middle C, and the highest note is G two and a half octaves above middle C.Levers/Pedals: In the key of G major (F levers set to F sharp). TheHarpLibrarian #1046437. Published by TheHarpLibrarian (A0.1468126). This is my arrangement of Bundle of Joy from the Disney/Pixar film Inside Out for celtic or folk lever harp. It can be played on a lap harp model as small as 26 strings, like the Harpsicle Fullsicle that I am playing in the video, or on a larger floor harp. Your model must have levers, though, as the melody changes keys repeatedly and so relies on several quick lever changes.The lowest note is the E below middle C and the highest is the G two octaves above middle C. As such, it should work on many common small or lap harp models, including Harpsicle harps, some Roosebeck Pakistani harps (depending on the range), Dusty Strings Ravenna 26, Marini Made lap harps, Heartland Harps Air Serenity, and many others. As noted above, it can also work on a larger floor harp with levers.The piece is light, quick, and repetative. By far the hardest element in my opinion is the succession of levers changes in the melody, though these come easier with practice. But less experienced harpists may also want to take into account that there are a few harmonics, played on both hands, in the middle section, and that the song will sound odd if these are omitted.Please note that the preview cuts off after the first half page of score. This recognizable theme from the 1993 film adaptation of The Secret Garden appears in several different tracks from the score, but most notably in Leaving the Docks and Showing Dickon Garden.I arranged the piece specifically for my 26-string Fullsicle Harpsicle harp, and it should fit on other small harp models with a similar range. But you can, of course, also play it on larger harp models (either lever or pedal), as well.Because the original version was a piano solo, I had to re-organize some of the left-hand chord structures to get it to fit the range of my small harp. But, even with this adaptation, I was able to keep it in the original key (two sharps, so D Major), meaning that owners of Sharpsicle Harpsicle models, and some Roosebeck Pakistani harps, should be able to play this piece, as well as Fullsicle Harpsicle model owners.There are no lever changes or extended techniques, but, at full-speed, the piece can prove much more challenging than it looks at first glance. In particular, I recommend practicing that quick, repetitive Alberti bass in the left-hand with a loose, exagerated oscillation movement to prevent tightness or injury. Also be wary of starting out at a speed that you can't maintain throughout the entirety of the performance. Meteronomes are your friend.Please note that the preview cuts off after the first half-page of score. Aaron Copland included the melody in his ballet, Appalachian Spring (1944). Arrangements of Simple Gifts has been sung at three US Presidential Inaugurations (1985, 1993 and 2009).  The Multi-level pieces were initially arranged in an A Version. When that was completed, it was then simplified to form the B Version. The B Version has thinner lines and allows more time for placing the fingers. The purpose is to permit harpists of various playing levels to enjoy performing together. In the key of D, the melody is divided evenly between parts. There are no pedal or lever changes. Dynamics are clearly marked. Shaker songs were quite often sung in rounds.

Originally a piano piece, part of a Suite Burlesque, this piece became familiar to many of us as the theme from the weekly tv show, Alfred Hitchcock Presents. It is a mock funeral march, with a contrasting heroic middle section. The only difficulty is at the end: originally too chromatic altogether, it has been rearranged, but it includes some quick and precise pedalling: C-sharp-natural-flat. This can best be managed by a staccato technique followed by a pedal slide, all in keeping with the character of the piece.

This beautiful arrangement of Pure Imagination from the film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory -- debuted by Gene Wilder but more recently covered by Timothée Chalamet -- taps both into the sense of childhood innocence and wonder encapsulated by the song's lyrics, as well as into the quirky nature of the character of Wonka.The arrangement is two-and-a-half pages long and fitted specifically to small, 26-string lever harp, like Rees Harpsicle or Dusty Strings Ravenna. It could also easily be modified for 24-string harp models, like Harp-E, if measures 22-25 were played an octave lower than written and the high F in measure 48 were omitted.Skillwise, the arrangement it sits solidly at an intermediate level and contains only two quick lever changes, both on the same string. If you are an experienced harpist, you can probably sight-read it without too much difficulty. You will, however, need to be comfortable with playing harmonics to play it as written. If you are not comfortable playing harmonics, you could absolutely modify the piece by simply plucking each note written as a harmonic an octave higher than notated. It will sound better, however, with harmonics played as written.Please note that the preview cuts off after the first half-page of score.
