Exercises are simple and move slowly, developing a solid technique. The book is meant to be used under the guidance of a harp instructor. Harp arrangement of Walking in the Air, written by Howard Blake from 'The Snowman'. The harp part was specifically arranged for a small lever harp with 22 strings and contains some rather quick lever changes. The piece can be played on a pedal harp as well, but only the lever changes are indicated. The range is from A below the small C (C3) to A above the treble staff (A2-A4).

This is a study of ear training through melodic development. Small melodic fragments from familiar nursery rhymes, folk, patriotic and hymns tunes are used. The numbers 1 through 7 are used instead of using ?Do, Re, Mi?? to identify the notes in the scale. Melodies are categorized by range, beginning with a range of only three notes, progressing through a total of nine categories. Skills in ear training are highly useful to musicians who might be asked to take requests at hotels, parties and restaurants, or those involved in harp therapy. With the melodic fragments that are the focus of study, performance by ear can be highly strengthened and developed.

Six-page medley consisting of three lovely tunes: Good King Wenceslas, Silent Night and and Away in a Manger. The left hand is fairly sparse utilizing mostly sustained single notes. Right hand has parallel thirds and sixths, and on a variation of Good King Wenceslas these are broken (with melody in the thumb.) There is a modulation to Silent Night with two clearly marked lever changes and another modulation to the key of F with three clearly marked lever changes over three measures (going into Away in a Manger). The left hand takes the melody for a portion of Away in a Manger. Great for the lower intermediate player or the advanced beginner, especially adults with prior musical experience. Chords are marked.

Everyone enjoys Celtic Folk Songs and Folk Hymns but not all realize that often they can be one and the same. A hymn text has often found its home in a folk song and a secular text sometimes finds a home in a hymn tune. This collection has a little of both. All but one of the tunes in this collection are of Celtic origin. The exception, ?Amazing Grace,? is a folk hymn of unknown origin that has all the markings of a Celtic Tune, including a pentatonic harmonic foundation.
