I wrote it on a 26-string lap harp, but the range (from the C below middle C to the C above middle C) would fit a harp as small as 22 strings. It is written in A minor, with no sharps, flats, or other lever changes. As such, this piece should be playable on pretty much any standard small or lap harp, regardless of whether it has levers.Suggested harp models include Harpsicle Harps, Dusty Strings Ravenna 26, Musicmakers Sonnet 29, Fireside Harps, Marini Made lap harp models, Roosebeck Pakistani harps, Heartland Harps Air Serenity, Harp-E harps, and so on.The piece was composed to cheer up a fellow harpist who is still at the beginning of their harp journey. It is meant to invoke a medieval castle, and, as such, could be the perfect piece to take to a renaissance fair, an outdoor wedding, a larp-ing event, or perhaps on vacation with you, if you plan on touring any old castles with your small/lap harp in tow and trying out the acoustics.The song is appropriate for beginner harpists. You may need to practice replacing in a few places to avoid buzzing. But the piece only ever requires you to place in one direction at a time and minimizes the amount of time both hands play simultaneously. This is a traditional Irish tune in 6/8 march time. A little reminiscent of Brian Boru's march. It is in G major, but one of the F's is natural. This is clearly marked in the part. Part one can be mixed with only part 3 or 2, so if there are only two harpists take your pick. The harp 1 part can also be played alone. Part 3 is the easiest and for part 2 one needs to be at least of intermediate ability. .

It can be played on a lap harp model as small as 26 strings, like the Harpsicle Fullsicle that I am playing in the video, or on a larger floor harp. Your model must have levers, though, as the melody changes keys repeatedly and so relies on several quick lever changes.The lowest note is the E below middle C and the highest is the G two octaves above middle C. As such, it should work on many common small or lap harp models, including Harpsicle harps, some Roosebeck Pakistani harps (depending on the range), Dusty Strings Ravenna 26, Marini Made lap harps, Heartland Harps Air Serenity, and many others. As noted above, it can also work on a larger floor harp with levers.The piece is light, quick, and repetative. By far the hardest element in my opinion is the succession of levers changes in the melody, though these come easier with practice. But less experienced harpists may also want to take into account that there are a few harmonics, played on both hands, in the middle section, and that the song will sound odd if these are omitted.Please note that the preview cuts off after the first half page of score.
