Originally published in The Skye Collection of the Best Reels and Strathspeys Extant, c. 1887, New Claret is a delightful country dance tune in 9/8. 2 pages. The first arrangement is accessible to later elementary players, the second to advanced intermediate players. The arrangements may also be played together as a duet, or one after the other for a longer and more varied arrangement. This versatile melody may also be played as a round.
Fingering for the elementary arrangement, and chord symbols for both are included. The elementary arrangement fits on a 26 string harp or larger. The intermediate arrangement will fit on a 26 string if just two bass notes are left out.

This arrangement consists of four different variations (easy, early intermediate, intermediate and advanced intermediate level) and with an easy ending. This piece contains no pedal or lever changes. The range is from A below the small C (C3) to A above the treble staff (A2-A5).
The Skye Boat Song consists of a beautiful Scottish melody and was popularised by the \'Outlander\' series.

Published by Afghan Press Music for the Harp (A0.797349). This traditional Scottish air was first published by the fiddler Captain Simon Fraser (1773-1852). The MacDonalds of Keppoch were a very distinguished branch of the Clan Macdonald who supported the losing side in the Jacobite risings in the 18th century. Tune is played twice with variations, with a four-bar interlude. The plaintive melody is very well suited to harp. Arrangement is two pages in length and presented in two keys, E and D minor. Fingerings and placing brackets are inserted throughout. Playable on a 30-string lever harp or pedal harp and requires no lever changes.

The last rose of summer was written by Thomas Moore to an existing Irish melody. O my love is like a red, red rose was written by Robert Burns to an existing Scottish melody. These two poets used existing melodies to add their own poetry and turn it into a song. Both songs are well known in the Celtic traditions and also fit well together. I used to play them in the key of C years ago, but on revisiting my old arrangements I preferred the key of F. There are no lever changes but there are plenty of full rolled chords. So an intermediate level of playing is required.I have added dynamics but they can be changed if you like. Both songs should not be played too fast. Metronome speeds are an indication only. Play with feeling!

Perhaps it was an anonymous Cistercian Monk, or King John IV of Portugal (1604-1656), or John Reading (1645-1692) or John Francis Wade (1711-1786). The first published version of it was in 1751 by John Francis Wade, a Scottish scholar of plainchant so he is often given credit as its composer. This trio can be performed as is or with the matching Duet version. In Harp I both hands play the melody. Harp II has melody and some accompaniment. Harp III has accompaniment and the most notes.
