String Ensemble,String Trio - Level 3 - SKU: A0.576736 Composed by David Warin Solomons. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 7 pages. David Warin Solomons #119391. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.576736). Mysterious piece in octatonic mode, originally written for the short story The Door The pdf file contains score and parts. The sound sample is an electronic preview. High up on the grassy hill behind the town there is a door. It stands there in its frame with nothing before or behind it. It is locked shut. There is no key. We climb the hill each day. We play each side of the door, games of hide and seek. But we cannot go through the door. Each day we go there during this long sultry summer holiday. We are fascinated by the structure. Why would anyone put a door up there, in its frame, eternally locked, with nothing before or behind it? Maybe it is all that remains of an ancient house? We play, we wonder, we laugh and play, and we return regularly to our homes in time for tea. Then, one day, as we climb the hill for the umpteenth time, a lady dressed in white arrives before us. We watch her take the key out of her bag and insert it in the lock. We are too far downhill to catch up before she closes the door behind her. As we arrive, puffing and panting, Steve knocks on the door. No answer. Dave knocks on the door more forcefully. We hear a distant swish of robes. Gloria knocks, perhaps a little more timidly as the swishing sound approaches. Estelle begins to knock in her turn and the door suddenly opens wide. We all gasp as we see the lady standing there in glistening robes. Her face is hidden from view by a white shawl, but her piercing eyes still show. Children, she says, welcome all. Do come in, please, the kettle is on. You are just in time for tea. We hesitate, as well we might. How can we come in when there is nothing before or behind the door? But Estelle puts one foot inside and looks back at us with a curious expression of serenity on her face. We follow her. We look around at the new space beyond the door and at the parquet floor beneath our dew-soaked feet. As our eyes become accustomed to the brightness of the interior we catch sight of many signs of the world we have entered, but only fleetingly. They pass before our eyes in an instant and then flee beyond the range of sight. There is a staircase, a hat stand, a distant gleam of an ancient cooker, a faint whiff of scones and boiling jam. As we walk inside, our senses are overwhelmed with the new reality, we are rooted to the spot. Do please sit down, says the lady with a slight catch in her throat. We are seated on wooden chairs along one side of an oak table, although we cannot recall how we got there, some slip of the memory perhaps. We have no sense of foreboding, Estelle's serenity has passed to all of us. We can stay here eating scones and jam until the end of time. The lady removes her shawl and reveals a face as beautiful as anyone's mother's. Her deep black eyes glisten like obsidian. She beams a smile of welcome and pours the tea. I'm glad you have come. I've been expecting you, she begins. You must have a thousand questions, so do please ask away. Well, says Steve, what is this door that we passed through? Is this another world? There is no other world, the lady replies, this is the only one. But there is! There is! starts Dave excitedly, Look!. He gets up quickly from the chair, knocking it over in his haste and rushes to the door to open it. He pulls at it with all his force and reveals a black nothingness behind it. We were on the hill, where's it gone? he shouts, what have you done to it? There is no hill. But you climbed the hill in front of us says Gloria. There is no hill. Even Estelle of the serene demeanour is beginning to look worried. How did we get here then, how did you get here, she asks the lady nervously. We have all been here since the beginning of time, the catch in the lady's throat is becoming more evident. No, we have our families down there in the town cries Estelle You have no families,.

String Ensemble Cello,Viola,Violin - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1112138 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Chamber,Christian,Classical,Instructional,Religious. 41 pages. Regis Bookshar #714324. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1112138). Recordare (from Requiem (K. 626) - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart/Franz Xaver Sussmayr - String Septet - Advanced/Intermediate - . Hauntingly beautiful is how the Recordare from Mozart's Requiem is often described. Originally written for an orchestra and four vocal soloists, it has now been transcribed by Regis Bookshar for a String Sextet, consisting of 3 Violins, 1 Viola and 3 Violoncellos, and would be a wonderful addition to any music library. This arrangement will provide students with the opportunity to play this beautiful composition, something which they may not have had the opportunity to do, otherwise. This selection could be performed for concerts, recitals and church services and is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this arrangement. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (41 pages). The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble has performed the Trumpet Quintet version of the Recordare for funerals, providing beautiful, introspective music for the occasion. There is some controversy surrounding the circumstances of the Requiem's composition because Mozart died before he could complete it. Count Franz von Walsegg had commissioned a Requiem Mass but Mozart had received only half of the payment in advance. So, upon his death on December 5th, 1791, his widow, Constanze, wished to have the work completed secretly by someone else and submit it to the count as having been completed by Mozart to collect the final payment. Joseph von Eybler was one of the first composers to be asked to complete the score and had worked on a number of movements but felt unable to complete the remainder and gave the manuscript back to Constanze Mozart. The task was then given to another composer, Franz Xaver Sussmayr. Sussmayr borrowed some of Eybler's work in making his completion, added his own orchestration to other movements and added several new movements which a Requiem Mass would normally comprise. He then added a final section by adapting the opening two movements which Mozart had written to the different words which finish the Requiem Mass, which according to both Sussmayr and Mozart's wife, was done according to Mozart's directions. The completed score, initially by Mozart but largely finished by Sussmayr, was then dispatched to Count Walsegg complete with a counterfeited signature of Mozart dated 1792. Despite the controversy over how much of the music is actually Mozart's, the commonly performed Sussmayr version has become widely accepted by the public, and is considered one of Mozart's finest compositions. The Recordare is considered by many people to be one of the most beautiful compositions in Mozart's entire catalogue. Regis Bookshar, a trumpet player, has performed the Requiem in concert with a full orchestra, soloists and a chorus and felt that other musicians should have the opportunity to play the hauntingly beautiful Recordare as well. So, in addition to this arrangement for a String Septet, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this beautiful composition. There are Quintets, Sextets, Septets and Octets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may fine something else which may also suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I'm certain that this beautiful arrangement of Mozart's Recordare, will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come.

So, in addition to this arrangement for a String Sextet, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this beautiful composition.

Regis Bookshar #713665. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1111378). Recordare (from Requiem (K. 626) - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart/Franz Xaver Sussmayr - String Sextet - Advanced/Intermediate - . Hauntingly beautiful is how the Recordare from Mozart's Requiem is often described. Originally written for an orchestra and four vocal soloists, it has now been transcribed by Regis Bookshar for a String Sextet, consisting of 3 Violins, 1 Viola and 2 Violoncellos, and would be a wonderful addition to any music library. This arrangement will provide students with the opportunity to play this beautiful composition, something which they may not have had the opportunity to do, otherwise. This selection could be performed for concerts, recitals and church services and is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this arrangement. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (28 pages). Published by MMB Music (A0.930446). This little 2minute march, centred round the D arpeggio, introduces new players to the concept of ensemble music as conversation. The theme, shared amongst the instruments is introduced by all the violins and repeated by the first violins alone. The second violins rejoin them in bar9 before a question and answer dialogue between the first violins and other pairs of instruments with the lower strings reiterating the theme in bars 17 to 20. The whole orchestra answers in agreement. The middle section is slower and sadder in character as not all marches, nor conversations are triumphal in character. The voices appear to complement each other in commiseration before taking turns in leading the whole back to the more optimistic mood of the main theme ending in a positive shout. Score and set of parts; easy/beginner level; violins, viola and cello Composed and published by Margaret Byrne.

String Ensemble Cello,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - SKU: A0.813995 Composed by Franz Xaver Gruber. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Christmas,Instructional,Multicultural,World. Score and parts. 12 pages. Regis Bookshar #6636653. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813995). String Octet - Intermediate - . This arrangement of Silent Night, or in German, Stille Nacht, would be a wonderful addition to any music library and could be performed for Christmas concerts, recitals, and, especially, church services. It is equally suitable for junior and senior high school students and even older musicians. Depending on their ability, younger musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (12 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time.Silent Night is probably the most popular Christmas carol ever written. It was composed in 1818 by Franz Xaver Gruber to lyrics by Joseph Mohr and was first performed on Christmas Eve at St. Nicholas parish church in Oberndorf, a small village in present-day Austria. A young Catholic priest, Father Joseph Mohr, had written the poem, Stille Nacht, in 1816 and had gone to Oberndorf in 1817. The melody was composed by Franz Xaver Gruber, schoolmaster and organist in the nearby village of Arnsdorf. On Christmas Eve, 1818, Mohr brought the words to Gruber and asked him to compose a melody and guitar accompaniment for that night's mass, after river flooding had possibly damaged the church organ. The church was eventually destroyed by repeated flooding and has since been replaced with the Silent-Night-Chapel.According to Gruber, Karl Mauracher, an organ builder who serviced the instrument at the Oberndorf church, was enamored with the song, and took the composition home with him to the Ziller Valley in Tyrol, Austria. From there, two traveling families of folk singers, the Strassers and the Rainers, included the tune in their shows. The Rainers were already singing it around Christmas, 1819, and once performed it for an audience that included Franz I of Austria and Alexander I of Russia. They also gave the first performance of the song in the United States in New York City in 1839. By the 1840's, the song was well known and was reported to be a favorite of Frederick William IV of Prussia. During this period, the melody changed slightly to become the version that is commonly heard today. The version of the melody that is generally used today is a slow, meditative lullaby, or pastoral, differing slightly from Gruber's original which has a moderate tempo. The song has been translated into about 140 languages and has been recorded by many singers across many music genres. The version sung by Bing Crosby in 1935, has sold over 10 million copies as a single. In this arrangement of Silent Night, Regis Bookshar has kept the basic form of this familiar Christmas carol, but has also included a descant during the third verse. Also, in addition to this version for a String Octet, consisting of 3 Violins, 2 Violas and 3 Violoncellos, there are other arrangements of Silent Night available for a variety of instrumental ensembles. There are Quintets and Octets readily available for purchase. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may find something else that might also suit your needs.I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a wide variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I'm certain that this wonderful arrangement of Silent Night will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come.

Published by Steven Mark Kudlo (A0.1116845). About 13 1/2 minutes long of intermediate difficulty, this composition smiles. It's in six movements, each movement dipping into three general styles: pandiatonic, expressionistic, and common practice tonality (regular music). Its overall tone is neoclassic, using minimal techniques to provide a satisfying experience. The clarinet is for a B-flat model; it gets at least adequate time to breathe. The string parts are fairly easy, though on one occasion the cello bounces around a bit. There are some varied time signatures that might be too challenging for very young people. There are a variety of key signatures. The composition is tonal.

Once they arrived in Bethlehem, they realized he was born to bring Peace on earth to all.  It has 6 strings parts as violin 1 has a solo part. The rest play throughout the piece. So many moving parts. The refrain part is played throughout the verses while the solo plays the lead. Published by Artaria Editions (A0.961407). ScoreArtaria Editions AE439Edited by Allan Badley 14 pagesIgnaz Pleyel (1757-1831) was at one time the most famous composer in the world. The popularity of his music eclipsed that of even his teacher Haydn and publishers vied to bring out his latest works as soon as they were finished. Some 2000 separate prints of Pleyel works had appeared by 1800 and his fame extended to every corner of Europe and as far afield as North America. Pleyel's career as a composer spanned less than thirty years with the majority of his works composed in the 1780s. He founded a successful publishing house in Paris in the mid-1790s and later began manufacturing keyboard instruments. With increasing demands on his time from his business concerns Pleyel's productivity as a composer dropped sharply and he ceased composing around 1805. Pleyel's three Trios Concertants, as they are styled in the earliest extant editions, appeared in 1787. Unlike the composer's quartets and quintets, which are generally in three movements, the string trios are cast in two movements - an opening Allegro and a Rondo - a practice unusual in Vienna but popular in France. The use of the term 'concertant' in the title signifies an equality of parts; that is, each of the instruments in the ensemble plays an important role in presenting thematic material. Pleyel's trios share many stylistic qualities with his quartets and quintets. His feel for the medium is at once apparent in his impressive exploitation of contrasting musical textures which range from bold, homophonic writing in a quasi-orchestral style to brief sections of canonic writing. The beauty and sophistication of these small-scale works can only make one regret that he did not write more works in the medium. Allan Badley.

The second of Bach’s four orchestral suites is actually the one he composed last, in Leipzig around 1739, and is probably the last orchestral music of any kind that he wrote. It is basically a solo flute concerto in the form of a dance suite, and an extraordinarily difficult flute concerto at that. A badinerie is a sort of character piece in 18th-century suites, with no particular dance rhythm or meter. This one has a full measure of the light and lively bantering the title implies, which has made it also popular with jazz arrangers. The Duration is approx. 1.32 minutes and the level is Advanced Intermediate.

Audiences around the world were soon captivated by his ethereal voice, unconventional song constructions, and virtuosic piano skills; his song Golden Hour became his first Billboard hit and kickstarted his career as a touring and award-winning artist. Along with Golden Hour, his debut EP included another breakthrough hit, This Is What Falling In Love Feels Like, which has also become a widely played and platinum-certified song. So it's no wonder people have been requesting it for strings! This Cellobat arrangement for your violin/viola/cello trio was originally written for a wedding ceremony, but it will also be great for prelude, cocktail hour, receptions, parties, and more. Maintaining the quirky energy, wall-of-sound approach, and signature string lines of the original, this one is sure to be lots of fun to play! Rated advanced-intermediate for a few tricky rhythms, tempo changes, and a few high notes in the violin part (up to 5th position); this won't be too difficult to put together, but will probably warrant a run-through before performing.Sarah “Cellobat” Chaffee is an in-demand acoustic & electric cellist and string arranger. Score and parts. 7 pages. Sharon Wilson #5041787. Published by Sharon Wilson (A0.565645). The familiar lyrics we know as O Sacred Head, Now Wounded were added sometime around 1656. Though over 300 years old, this song continues to add inspiration and contemplation to worship services during the season of Lent and Easter. The melody is played by the VIOLIN throughout. An optional repeat is provided in case a longer musical selection is needed. All notes for each instrument (VIOLIN, VIOLA, and CELLO) are playable in the first position making this arrangement an excellent choice for early-intermediate string players.
