String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - SKU: A0.845992 Composed by Ben Fielding and Reuben Morgan. Arranged by Kyle Pudenz. Contemporary,Easter,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Score and parts. 19 pages. ViolinVagabond Music #6696601. Published by ViolinVagabond Music (A0.845992). This is a gig or church service-ready arrangement of Hillsong's Who You Say I Am for string quartet. A great addition to your gig book for weddings or your musical catalog for worship/church bands that feature strings. Included with the quartet score & parts is a slash/chord lead sheet if you wish to perform this with along with guitar, piano or full band. The form follows Hillsong's live version all the way through Chorus 3. It does not include the recap/vamp of the bridge and 4th chorus, but you can loop back on the chart from letter G to letter E if your performance requires a longer rendition. I have also taken the liberty of transposing this from the original key of F# (...oof) into the much more string & band-friendly key of G (and your purchase is all the thanks I need). I've added a few small flourishes, dynamic drops, and general instrumental interest throughout this arrangement, but would still describe this chart as sight-readable for professional players with experience playing pop/rock tunes. It's also well within the technical capability of high school or recreational ensembles with just a bit of practice, but if your violist hasn't ever seen a ghost note printed on a chart before, I would highly recommend taking 10 minutes to look it up...Performance time - approximately 3:20 straight through, longer if you loop back to the bridge like Hillsong Worship's live version. Lots of other exit/entry points can be easily incorporated at most of the rehearsal marks.Questions? Feel free to contact me via my website, www.kylepudenz.com/ or on the 'Insta @theviolinvagabond.

Jeff Tincher #4755945. Published by Jeff Tincher (A0.583718). Here is a complex sounding rock song that is really fun to perform. In the original key from April Wine's Harder Faster project, this song is the end theme for the Stuber movie. April Wine was a hard rock grounp in the late 70s/early 80s. When I heard this song at the end of the movie, I immediately checked the SMP list and created this arrangement. Hope you like it! Duration = 2:54. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.869305). Program notes. I met Lila Brown a year ago when she and members of the Boston Conservatory faculty performed my Octet in D, opus 144 (2012) at Seully Hall. Lila told me she had a summer festival in Salem, NY, and wondered if I would like to write a piece for her. I said sure. Just as in Hollywood, you never say no. At first Lila asked me if I would like to write a companion piece for Anton Webern’s Saxophone Quartet. I said sure!!! One thing led another and somehow I ended up agreeing to write a piano quintet for her. In the meanwhile Lila contacted Delores Stevens, artistic director of the Martha’s Vineyard Chamber Music Festival, and asked her if she would also premiere the work at her festival. Delores did a little research on me and my music online and she said yes. So, here we are. Siamo d’accordo. I wrote my first piano quintet in 1988 for the Apple Hill Chamber Players. That was not the usual quintet of a piano and string quartet. The Schubert Trout quintet was my model: piano, violin, viola, cello and double bass. I titled that work, Piano Quintet … apple strudel (1988). At that time I was a huge fan of the Entenmann’s Apple Strudel. I imagined the piano being encased/surrounded by the four string instruments. My first real piano quintet was written for the Formosa Quartet and pianist Tammy Lum. They premiered the work at Nyack College during the spring of 1988. My current piano quintet (no. 2) is titled Pq2 … (2014). It is a work in five movements. I. Moderato … Trio II. Adagio … III. Tsiaj 1 … Allegro IV. Tsiaj 2 … Prestissimo! V. Adagio What’s tsiaj? I got this from Charles E. Ives. The title of the middle movement of his Piano Trio is TSIAJ. It’s an acronym of This Scherzo is a joke. Enjoy!

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 4 - SKU: A0.845972 By NEEDTOBREATHE. By Nathaniel Bo Rinehart, Nathaniel Rinehart, William Bear Rinehart, and William Rinehart. Arranged by Kyle Pudenz. Contemporary,Pop,Praise & Worship,Wedding. Score and parts. 52 pages. ViolinVagabond Music #5297799. Published by ViolinVagabond Music (A0.845972). Most folks might tell you that covering a song like this without an acoustic guitar would be impossible.Nay! I say. Impossible is nothing when you have an ambitious group of string players and a thirst for greatness! So I made an interlocking pizzicato part between the 1st & 2nd violin, which re-creates the pulse of the fingerpicking guitar from Needtobreathe's original track. With a little bit of rehearsal, your quartet will soon be sailing through these verses with no need for any assistance from an accompanist. That being said, if your thirst for greatness falls a little short, you can also dial this tune back to easy mode and perform with a guitarist. I have included an acoustic guitar part specifically for this purpose, because I, like you, have done my fair share of wedding gigs where someone calls a tune at the last minute and you have no time (or desire) to waste on a rehearsal. This arrangement uses strum bowing and ghost notes fairly extensively as a means to create rhythmic grooves. If you are unfamiliar with these concepts, I recommend checking out the following series of videos: https://youtu.be/kfX3kxjC93sPerformance time - approximately 4:30Questions? String Quartet Cello,Double Bass,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - SKU: A0.746989 By Dizzy Gillespie. By Dizzy Gillespie and Frank Paparelli. Arranged by Keith Terrett. Jazz. 13 pages. Keith Terrett #5820835. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.746989). A great sounding arrangement of A Night in Tunisia, your String Orchestra will love it!A jazz solo is written out for you, if you wish you can improvise on the given chord symbols!A Night in Tunisia is a musical composition written by Dizzy Gillespie around 1941–42, while Gillespie was playing with the Benny Carter band. It has become a jazz standard. It is also known as Interlude. Gillespie called the tune Interlude and said some genius decided to call it 'Night in Tunisia'. He said the tune was composed at the piano at Kelly's Stables in New York. He gave Frank Paparelli co-writer credit in compensation for some unrelated transcription work, but Paparelli had nothing to do with the song. A Night in Tunisia was one of the signature pieces of Gillespie's bebop big band, and he also played it with his small groups. In January 2004, The Recording Academy added the 1946 Victor recording by Gillespie to the Grammy Hall of Fame.On the album A Night at Birdland Vol. 1, Art Blakey introduced his 1954 cover version with this statement: At this time we'd like to play a tune [that] was written by the famous Dizzy Gillespie. I feel rather close to this tune because I was right there when he composed it in Texas on the bottom of a garbage can. The audience laughs, but Blakey responds, Seriously. The liner notes say, The Texas department of sanitation can take a low bow.The complex ostinato bass line in the A section is notable for avoiding the standard walking bass pattern of straight quarter notes, and the use of oscillating half-step-up/half-step-down chord changes (using the Sub V, a tritone substitute chord for the dominant chord) gives the song a unique, mysterious feeling. The B section is notable for having an unresolved minor II-V, since the chord progression of the B section is taken from the B section of the standard Alone Together, causing the V chord to lead back into the Sub V of the A section.Like many of Gillespie's tunes, it features a short written introduction and a brief interlude that occurs between solo sections - in this case, a twelve-bar sequence leading into a four-bar break for the next soloist.

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 5 - SKU: A0.534402 Composed by Jacques Leguerney. 20th Century,Standards. Score and parts. 125 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #3457403. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.534402). Jacques Leguerney (1906-1997) composed two string quartets. The Premier Quatuor à cordes was composed in 1925 during Leguerneyâ??s private piano and composition study with French pianist Thérèse Cahen. His second quartet, subject of this publication by Musik Fabrik, was written between November 1947 and September 1948. The four movements are: I. Allegro moderato; II. Intermezzo; III. Scherzando; IV. Presto-Andantino. This work was, in part, Leguerneyâ??s response to the Premier Quatuor à cordes (inédit) by his colleague, Henri Sauguet. Leguerney stated in a personal interview with Patrick Choukroun (18 May 1989) that: â??I wrote it a bit in opposition to Sauguetâ??s Premier Quatuor. It seemed to me that his quartet was without interest: just scratchings! I wanted to express my way of looking at it from the classical viewpoint of the past: it is almost in the spirit of Mozart, except for the harmonic language, of course. In fact, I wanted to fight against everything that has been done to a quartet since Beethovenâ??s last ones.â? The premiere of the Quatuor à cordes en ré mineur was by the Quatuor Pro Arte at the Abbaye de Royaumont. Before this performance, Poulenc sent Leguerney the following note: â??Fortunate man for whom twelve strings are enough to charm people, I wish you good luck and respectfully embrace you.â? (Handwritten letter, Reims, 4 September 1959). Leguerney was appointed artistic director of the Lumen recording company in 1951, and remained in this position until 1959. He produced four recordings of his music, including the Quatuor Pro Arteâ??s recording of the Quatuor à cordes en ré mineur (1947-1948) (Lumen, LD 2.440, 1958). This disc won the Grand Prix du Disque de lâ??Académie Charles Cros on 13 March 1959. The Pro Arteâ??s members were Suzanne Plazonich, Violin I; Chantal Beylier, Violin II; Nicole Gendreau, Viola; and Micheline Burtin, Cello. Francis Poulenc wrote to Leguerney concerning this recording: â??It is very good Leguerney. Of course, frivolous as I am and shall always remain, it is the 2nd movement that I prefer. Between us, I am like you: I prefer the scherzos after the andantes; that way one is not forced to write a Finale allegro. Yours pleases me very much, in fact, so to my ears it is III-IV-I-II, in the order of pleasure.â? (Manuscript letter, Bagnols, 14 October 1959) The radio station France I broadcast the Quatuor with on 11 July 1959 on the program Schola of the series Concert de musique contemporaine, again with the Quatuor Pro Arte. An archive recording of this broadcast exists on magnetic tape. Critic Claude Rostand wrote: â??Jacques Leguerney does not seem to have looked for special innovations either in form or language. His basic thought seems especially to have written a quartet, that is to say on one hand to have used the four voices with elegance and originality, clarity and homogeneity (four-part writing seems to always have come naturally to him, even at the piano), and on the other hand to exploit all of the supple cushioning that can result from the caress of a bow on a string.â? Critic Emile Vuillermoz wrote: â??His only ambition is to expresses clear and affectionate melodic ideas, in a highly distinguished, elegant and refined language, meaning an homage, in the beginning of our century, to the trios of the greatest stylists of our time. In fact, it is from the vocabulary of Fauré, Debussy and Ravel that he takes his grammar and syntax and that with which he carries out with his this harmonic writing that is both supple and sparse, that is so congenial to the association of four string instruments. This quartet, whose first movement is of a rare perfection, is a delicate enchantment.â? The Musik Fabrik edition of the Quatuor à cordes en ré mineur is taken from a photocopy of the composerâ??s manuscript of the full score. We also had access to the quartet parts found in Leg.

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 1 - SKU: A0.548729 Composed by Martin Luther. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Easter,Instructional,Standards. Score and parts. 8 pages. Jmsgu3 #3412115. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.548729). Out of the Depths I Cry to You by Martin Luther. The first verses feature modified counterpoint and harmony proceeding at quarter = 82. The final verse is reharmonized for maximum dramatic effect at a more contemplative tempo such as quarter = 64. Very powerful selection for Lent or Easter. Duration (3 verses) 3:05, 36 ms. Score: 4 pg. parts: 1 pg. Bowings included. Out of the Depths Aus tiefer Not schrei ich zu dir (From deep affliction I cry out to you), is, of course, a hymn composed by Martin Luther. Moreover, Luther also wrote the lyrics which are essentially a paraphrase of Psalm 130. First published in 1524, it is also one of eight songs in the original Lutheran hymnal. It appears likewise in many hymnals and in different translations. The lyrics furthermore stimulated compositions from the Renaissance to the contemporary. Consequently, composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach built an entire chorale cantata on it. Other composers similarly contributed compositions, such as Felix Mendelssohn and Max Reger. Luther Background Martin Luther, (1483 –1546) was a German professor of theology, composer, priest, and moreover, an influential character in the Protestant Reformation. Luther had a momentous impact on church and society due to his contributions to the musical arts. He wanted to disseminate the gospel among mankind and with this intention thought that the best way to do that was through music. Influence It is important to realize that other musicians, and their descendants, were encouraged by Luther’s songs and wrote their own hymns. Luther, to be sure, had a thorough musical education. For example, he knew secular and sacred songs from an early age. He, in particular, played the lute well and sang in the monastery when he was a monk. That is to say, music was an essential part of his life. He in fact first began writing songs in 1523, sometimes writing the melody as well as the lyrics. Luther was certainly able to evaluate the composers of his time. He thought especially highly of Josquin des and Ludwig Senfl. He was also acquainted, with this in mind, with other composers and their works. Legacy The Lutheran musical ethos soon covered all of Germany and later significantly fashioned Protestant musical culture. Heinrich Schütz and Johann Sebastian Bach are the most compelling evidence of this Protestant musical culture. Additionally, as a point often overlooked, the pedal organ, first refined in northern Germany, became universally prevalent. As a matter of fact, Dieterich Buxtehude established a regular evening organ concert series in Lübeck. Another key point is that this concert series, in turn, spread North German Musical ideas worldwide. Luther was especially convinced that music is a beautiful and exclusive offering of the divine.

This is not my first string quartet, but I think this is great program music; the titles of the movements (One of Those Daze, Reflections, Good Times) speak for themselves. The first movement explores rhythms and different meters (same pulse). The second movement is calming and reflective, like a prayer. The third movement is euphoric and probably the easiest one to play, which can be welcome if your group is giving a concert. Needless to say, the two outer movements are good for gigs such as receptions and parties. The score and each part is included in one PDF. Audio will be forthcoming upon being recorded.

Preferred Contact Information: RMonteverdi@comcast.net Performing Rights Organization: BMI Website: robertgreenbergmusic.com Facebook Band Page: facebook.com/RobertGreenbergMusic Duration: ca. 21 minutes Year of composition: 1988 Program Note: !. Games (fast) II. Intermezzo: Dreams of Gold (slow) III. Dances (very fast) Child's Play was completed in August, 1988. In no way does the title refer to the technical demands of the piece, which are considerable. Rather, it refers to the endlessly imaginative, energized, and constantly changing play that might be engaged in by four different, though like-minded children. Indeed, the inspiration for the quartet was my then two-year-old daughter Rachel, whose boundless energy and capacity for play I found (and still find) rather terrifying. Child's Play consists of three movements: Games (fast), Intermezzo: Sogni d'Oro (Dreams of Gold) (slow), and Dances (very fast). In Games, four energetic and well-rested players leap out of the starting blocks together and engage in sport of various kinds: running games, chasing games, teasing games, tag, echo games (Simon Says), races, and so forth, eventually returning to the unison from which they began. Intermezzo: Sogni d'Oro (Dreams of Gold) offers a quiet, episodic, dreamlike respite from the frenetic mood of Games. In Dances, the energized character of the first movement resumes, only faster. Dances is a perpetual motion movement in three parts, with a slower, more fragmented middle section sandwiched between a boisterous and frenzied dance of life. This movement ends much in the same way as the first movement began, bringing the circuit of the piece to a close. Child's Play was commissioned by, and is dedicated, with many thanks and great appreciation, to the Alexander String Quartet.

Arranged by Adam Overacker for String Love. 20th Century,Pop,Rock,Singer/Songwriter,Wedding. 21 pages. String Love #806388. Published by String Love (A0.1208286). String Quartet arrangement of You Are The Best Thing, the 2008 hit from Ray LaMontagne.  It's catchy and dancy and a perfect recessional song.  Arranged by Adam Overacker for String Love string quartet, this instant classic is Ray’s top song on Spotify with over 165,000,000 streams!  It’s been a constant on our playlists for preludes, cocktail hours, and ceremonies for many years.  It’s got a singable and recognizable melody, but it’s also got an infectious rhythm that is both fun to listen to and fun to play.  The song is from Ray’s album Gossip in the Grain, an album that Pop Matters calls the artist’s most cohesive, career-defining album to date.†Billboard also loved the album, saying While there's not a bad song in the bunch, once you've heard LaMontagne loosen up, you're left starving for more of it.†You Are The Best Thing has been covered by numerous artists and has appeared in movies and tv shows including I Love You, Man, Bad Moms, and American Idol.  If you’d like a version without chord changes or ossia’s just get a hold of us on our website, we’d be happy to provide that for you.  Same with violin 3 / viola tc.
