Published by Santino Cara (A0.516902). Version for String Quartet of the Concerto in A minor RV 357for violin solo and string orchestra composed in 1714 by Antonio Vivaldi. Dedicated to the Venetian nobleman Mr. Vettor Delfino and published for first time in 1716 in La Stravaganza Op.4 No.4. With the complete score of the concert, they are inserted also the separate instrumental parts. Movements: 1. Allegro, 2. Grave e cantabile, 3. Allegro This concerto is a personal reconstruction of Santino Cara made from the manuscript kept in the National Library of Turin, and is cataloged in the transcriptions of Santino Cara with the code: CS2156. A lovely, gentle short piece by the blind pianist and composer Maria Theresia von Paradis (1759-1824), to whom Mozart's piano concerto K. 456 was dedicated. The piece is notable for its poignant shifts between major and minor. An alternate viola part is included for use as a string trio.CYPRESS PUBLISHING is pleased to be the imprint for arrangements for string ensemble by Stephen Levintow. He is a free lance professional violist and violinist specializing in chamber music, who began making string quartet and trio arrangements for wedding, party and corporate jobs, to expand the repertory or to improve on existing versions. Selections include unusual pieces by both familiar and lesser-known composers, as well as some standard classical and popular favorites. The goal is to produce high-quality, musically satisfying arrangements faithful to the composer’s original material, yet sight-readable in most cases by working professionals or intermediate to advanced students. The full range of normal string technique is employed, but unnecessary technical complexity is avoided. Melodic material is distributed throughout the four voices where appropriate, to maintain listener and performer interest. All parts and scores are set in Sibelius© software format, with careful attention to legibility and page turns.

Published by Klaus Wegner Hamilton (A0.1501537). This is a piece I wrote for String Quartet, taken from the 2024 Guildhall Composition Summer Course End-of-Course Concert. I was really obsessed with the pelog scale when I wrote this piece; I would sit at the piano, just running the scale up and down over and over again, absorbing the colours. I kept thinking about the first Gamelan theme in Poulenc's Concerto for two pianos, which I have directly quoted in this piece. I ended up taking this piece in a much different direction however, contrasting the playful with both the overbearingly bright and the ominous. I really learned a lot about writing for String Quartet and strings in general through this piece. Note:There are some differences between the linked performance and the score being provided. Aside from some minor engraving changes as well as minor musical adjustments, the most notable change is that the piece has been moved from E Major to D Major to aid playability. Despite these changes, the recording is functionally the same as the score being provided.
