En “Migrando…†se exploran musicalmente tres etapas: la “expatriación†ó el momento en que se decide salir de la patria; el “desierto†entendido en dos sentidos: como un estado de ánimo y como un lugar (para los que tienen que cruzar un desierto hacia su destino) y finalmente la “acogidaâ€, cuando existe un proceso de aceptación de la nueva realidad sin dejar atrás los orÃgenes. La misma obra es un viaje migratorio de un espacio sonoro sombrÃo a uno mas complejo en el último movimiento. I. ExpatriaciónEste movimiento está relacionado a la idea de abandonar la patria ya sea por necesidad, por buscar diferentes oportunidades, reunificación familiar, etc. Un sube y baja de emociones representadas en el ostinato de algunas voces mientras las otras partes hacen referencia a la incertidumbre en la travesÃa hacia un nuevo destino. II. DesiertoEn este movimiento se explora la vivencia del “desierto†como un estado de ánimo en el cual se suele caer cuando se llega al nuevo destino. El espacio de tiempo de introspección de la nueva realidad. Following from the success of the Hits of the Renaissance for Strings, featuring well-known dances from Terpsichore by Michael Praetorius, this arrangement is from another classic book of dances from the same period. Pierre Phalèse (1510-1575) was a Flemish publisher and his First Book of Dances, an extensive collection of dances in four parts, was published in Leuven in 1571. They are attractive pieces and are sure to be popular at any concerts, public recitals or end-of-semester events. This arrangement is for virtually any string ensemble and the single PDF file includes a full score and parts for violin 1, violin 2, viola (violin 3), cello and bass (combined), keyboard and simple percussion. Two additional melody parts are provided in the treble and bass clefs and the chords (for optional guitar) are shown in both keyboard and cello-bass parts. In the spirit of the original publication of 1571, you can add to the melody line any other C-pitch instruments that happen to be available. Even the additional of a couple of recorders will enhance the sound. Alternatively, you can do opposite and create a pleasing contrast by omitting instruments for certain sections. The audio demo will give you an idea how this might be achieved. While you can add flute, recorder, oboe, glockenspiel or whatever you want, additional instruments are not essential but can add contrasting tone color. The keyboard part is intended as a guide and when possible, the keyboard player should feel free to improvise around the part and the chords shown. A piano is distinctly out of place in this music and a digital or acoustic harpsichord sounds more authentic. Most electronic keyboards have a harpsichord option. The optional percussion instruments used are similar to those found in elementary school music rooms and usually include a tambour or hand-held drum, antique (finger) cymbals, wood-blocks and tambourine. Two or three players can be used and the parts can be interpreted quite freely. Dance music is intended to be fun, and we hope that this arrangement brings you just that.

Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.575837). Originally written for a Delian suite for various composers remembering Schoenberg back in 2006, I have now revised it and provided separate parts. The piece is atonal and satirically based on Twinkle twinkle little star by way of a supposed reaction from Pluto after it was relegated from planet to dwarf planet by astronomers here on earth. I wrote the following introduction for the Delian suite version: 'Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star' (Jane Taylor's poem used for the tune to the French song Ah, vous dirai-je maman) is given an atonal treatment, for string quartet, in memory of the 'lost' planet of Pluto. Of course Pluto is still there, merely changed in the human taxonomy, which deems it to be no longer a planet. Similarly Twinkle, Twinkle is no longer a nursery rhyme but a strange atonal piece with memories of its past self moving towards an unknown space. It will be curious to know at which age a child recognises the twinkle-twinkle motif in this new, totally untraditional version. However, atonal though it is, it still appears to have some kind of 'home.' 'Ah, vous dirai-je maman, ce qui cause mon tourment,' ce n'est plus la petite chanson d'enfants, elle s'en va vers les étoiles dans un astronef de quatuor à cordes atonal. Son tourment?: Sa lamentation ne vise que la taxonomie humaine des planètes-Pluton, tu n'est plus planète? Maman! où se trouve la réalité, où se trouve notre domicile? Nous avons tous nos taxonomies, mais la réalité est en dehors... Le sens de tonalité est en dehors... Mais malgré tout, on reconnaît la mélodie... N'est-ce pas?.

This numbered compilation of 10 works has been prepared to represent the diversity and high level of the new sound creation in Latin America. Hence, precisely, the symbol of the “escordatura” to visualize this richness of a continent that despite the idiomatic differences of each country, manages to form an identifiable, valuable and striking cultural entity.It is with immense enthusiasm that we present this first installment, which includes music from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Mexico, Ecuador and Venezuela; where the stylistic variety of each composer converges with languages that range from tonal and impressionist music to experimental and postmodern proposals.With the opening of this new series, the Editorial Copistas Acuario deepens its position in Latin America and expands its catalog, hoping to achieve in the future its consolidation as the publishing house of Latin American music to the world.
