Recommended for performance in reverently Christian and liturgical ceremonies such as Good Friday and Christmas time. It also serves as a study for Baroque sacred song. The Jesulein süß, the Jesulein mild is an original traditional German choral melody for voice and continuous bass arranged by Johann Sebastian Bach around 1735. With lyrics by Valentin Thilo, O Jesulein süss is a sacred melody adapted and catalogued as BWV 493. The first translation is by Dirk van Hogendorp, who made it more of a song for the time of suffering.

Munich can be traced as far back as 1593 from Dresden, Germany.  In 1846, Felix Mendelssohn adapted this tune for the quartet Cast Thy Burden upon the Lord in the oratorio Elijah.  From that, other representations of this melody have developed, such as the hymn “O Word of God Incarnate.â€This piece was arranged for the ATLYS String Quartet to showcase talented and innovative women performers.  The ATLYS String Quartet is an all women chamber group world renown for their incorporation of modern performing techniques and programs music that is both “diverse and intriguing.â€.
