Premiered by The Connecticut Trio on September 27, 2015, Fairfield, Connecticut.Mornings of Creation is a five-movement suite for piano trio. This music was created during the composer's customary composing hours—the morning. Thus, the message is one of the freshness of a new day, and the energy of creative impulse.First Notes opens with light patterns in the strings, as bird calls. Initially presented individually, the calls join together as a precursor to the main theme of the movement, presented by cello and then violin. A middle section in the minor mode features tremoli in the piano. This is a restless, energetic section which leads to the return of the theme. Arranged with new harmony for the final verse. Origins The First Noel is an English Christmas carol. Even more, it was probably written in the late Cornish Renaissance period. While other versions spell the title as Nowell, this is a colloquial variation. Furthermore, Noel is an older word meaning Christmas. Therefore the First Noel translates as the First Christmas. First of all, Gilbert and Sandy published the earliest version. As a result, this version appears in the Carols Ancient and Modern songbook of 1823. William Sandy edited and arranged the book. Similarly, his partner Davies Gilbert edited and added the familiar extra verses. Stainer Organist and composer Sir John Stainer published the most noteworthy customary arrangement in the 1870s.  Stainer is, above all, famous for his songbook entitled: Christmas Carols New and Old (1871). This volume served as an essential catalyst for reviving the English Christmas carol.  Other famous Stainer arrangements from this book include What Child Is This, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, Good King Wenceslas, and I Saw Three Ships. Diatonic Function The melodic structure in the First Noel is uncommon among English folk tunes. It simply repeats one phrase twice and then follows a variation refrain. All three phrases of the song end on the mediant scale degree. This is unusual because the diatonic function of the mediant is non-final compared to the more usual tonic or even dominant degrees. Consequently, this gives the song an open-ended feeling – like maybe it never ends. Political Context The Catholic clergy sang carols outside of the church in Latin. After the Protestant Reformation, the reformers thought it would be better for everyone to sing carols. They decided to bring music back to the common folk. So, they translated the lyrics from Latin into a common language. Moreover, the Protestants wanted more control over the music in the church than what the Vatican allowed. Protestant composers such as William Byrd composed complex polyphonic Christmas music that they called carols. Nonetheless, some famous folk carols were composed in this era. Eminent composers in the nineteenth century began to revise and adapt them. Consequently, they revived the English carol.

The Piano Trio in C minor Op.143 was published by Schott in 1826, but could have been composed much earlier for Ries's personal use in the London concert halls. It is an imposing work, whose gruff tone and serious purpose recall Beethoven's use of this key. The first movement is an impressive sonata-form movement extending to a length of almost 250 bars. It contains two strikingly contrasted themes, one aggressively assertive, the other of a more lyrical, tender character (parallels to Beethoven's thematic tendencies in sonata-form movements are once again clearly apparent). The Adagio movement, cast in the rich colours of A flat major (the tonic minor - flat submediant major key relationship recalls Beethoven once again) contains some moments of real beauty and musical insight. The piano is often centrestage, its florid lines and ornamental flourishes reminiscent of another of Ries's contemporaries, Hummel. The technique of connected second and third movements seen in this work is not new but was a trend established in the piano trio genre by Joseph Haydn in the 1780s and 90s. The oasis of calm and tranquillity created in the Adagio is shattered dramatically by the jagged arpeggio figure which launches the finale. This extremely fast movement - the metronome marking indicates that the music should be felt in two, not in four - is characterised by the tarantella topos. It is a tremendously exciting movement, whose swirling energy and frantic pace is only reined in at the final cadence. The present edition reproduces as faithfully as possible the text of the trio as transmitted in Schott's 1826 edition of the work, a copy of which is preserved in the Staatsbibliothek in Berlin. The metronome markings at the head of each movement derive from this source. The piano compass extends from E flat 1 to a flat 4, a range of just over six octaves. Pedal markings indicated in the source have not been included in the current edition since these are generally very instrument-dependent. Minor rhythmic inconsistences between different statements of the same theme have been retained (e.g. first movement, second subject, bb.51-52, cello and 188-89, violin), as have some differences in phrasing between successive thematic statements (cf. finale, piano bb.3-6 and violin bb.18-21). The style and notation of articulation and dynamic markings have been standardised throughout, and, where missing from the print, markings have been reconstructed from parallel passages. These are indicated by the use of dotted slurs or brackets where appropriate. Obvious wrong notes have been corrected without comment, and editorial emendations with no authority from the print are placed within brackets. Dianne James.

Published by Pavel Trojan (A0.1021226). The Piano Trio N.2 by Pavel Trojan was composed in 2009 at the call of the Czech Trio and has since been played many times in the Czech Republic and abroad. This work was also recorded by Czech Radio and released on CD (Radioservis). The performance of this work in Dvořák's Hall of Rudolfinum in 2011, was particularly resonated. The Composition has 4 movements and is appropriate both for music school students and professional concert artists. PAVEL TROJAN was born on 14th August 1956 in Domažlice. Between 1977 and 1982, he studied composition with Ilja HurnÃk at the Prague Conservatory; after that, from 1982 until 1989, he went to attend the Music and Dance Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, where he studied in the class of Jiřà Pauer.The composer has extensive chamber, orchestral and musical dramatic work, which includes both opera and musical. In his work he puts emphasis on melody, brevity and clarity.He has been working at the Prague Conservatory since 1986, at first as a music theory tutor, and from 1991 as a music composition teacher. From 1992 until 2004, he was the vice director of the conservatory until being appointed the director in December 2004 (until July 2018). He is currently teaching a composition. Inspired by the stylings of the Baroque masters, this trio arrangement (for VIOLIN and CELLO duet with PIANO accompaniment) weaves a classical sound throughout the familiar hymn tune FLEMMING. The lyrics typically associated with the tune were written by Elizabeth R. Charles and titled Praise Ye the Father. This bright and festive arrangement is equally fun for all performers as the piece creates a complex intertwining of patterns reminiscent of classical works.The VIOLIN carries the melody for the first verse and half of the second verse, followed by CELLO on melody for the conclusion of the second verse. All notes for both the VIOLIN and CELLO are playable in the first position making this arrangement an excellent choice for early-intermediate string players. The PIANO accompaniment is written for an intermediate player. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q11489). The composer and violinist Johanna Senfter (1879 1961) from Oppenheim concerned herself with piano-accompanied chamber music for strings all her life. Max Reger valued her 'extraordinary compositional talent' and first taught her privately, later at the Leipzig Conservatoire. Senfter wrote five piano trios, her first piano trio (opus 7) being composed during her studies in Leipzig. Kleines leichtes Trio in F major, opus 134, published here for the first time, was written about 50 years later and probably is one of the last, if not her last finished composition. The late Romantic miniature is rewarding as a technically simple, yet musically demanding work for lessons and concert performances.

O Come, All Ye Faithful O Come, All Ye Faithful arranged for piano trio ( piano, violin & cello) featuring a thought-provoking re-harmonization of the final verse. O Come, All Ye Faithful is an English translation of the Latin Christmas carol Adeste Fideles. No one knows exactly who wrote it. One theory holds that King John IV of Portugal (1604–1656) wrote it. Another view says John F. Wade or John Reading wrote it. Nowadays, we usually attribute it to John Wade. It seems like Stonyhurst College in Lancashire owns the oldest manuscript. It is from the year 1751. Lyrics Frederick Oakeley, a Catholic priest in 1841, wrote the English translation. This translation is probably the most common in English-speaking states. To begin with, the hymn had only four verses. Later, the verses grew to eight. Music directors often cut various verses because otherwise, the song goes too long. Some believe that St. Bonaventure wrote the first Latin lyrics. Others hold that King John IV of Portugal is responsible. Yet even others think the Cistercian monks wrote them. King John IV His subjects called King John IV of Portugal The Musician King. He became king in 1640. In addition to performing the duties of a king, he composed and wrote as a music journalist. King John built an extensive music library. Unfortunately, the massive earthquake in Lisbon ruined the library in 1755. In addition to making his library, the king started a Music School that produced many accomplished musicians. The king also worked diligently to get instrumental music approved by the Vatican for use in his churches. Aside from his authorship of Adeste Fideles, he is famous for another popular choral setting of the Crux Fidelis, a prevalent Lenten hymn. Performance in Context Verses are sometimes left out because all eight verses would take too long to perform. More to the point, though, some of the poems may be unsuitable for whatever church calendar they are intended. The eighth verse deals with the Epiphany, so it makes sense to sing this on Epiphany Sunday but not on other Sundays. Similarly, other poems are used for whether the event is Midnight Mass or regular daytime Mass. Â
