None of the parts go beyond 4th position (with the exception of harmonics), so the challenge is to be found in the musical interpretation & ensemble playing aspects, and can additionally be used as a gentle introduction to reading in the tenor clef... All my arrangements for 'cello quartet, quintet and sextet are conceived specifically with the range and technical capabilities of the 'cello in mind - no simple transpositions or re-orchestrations of string quartet scores. They are therefore both easily playable and enjoyable by any intermediate to advanced 'cello ensemble. Most parts do not go beyond 4th position, making them equally suitable for student, mixed ability groups or ‘cello choirs. A complete score and set of individual parts is included. Canadian singer Alessia Cara also recorded the song for the Moana soundtrack. The song was nominated for Best Original Song at the 89th Academy Awards and Best Original Song at the 74th Golden Globe Awards but lost both to City of Stars from La La Land. Vier Seiten for violoncello is an attempt to present an event that in reality takes about two seconds in extreme slow motion, thus making even the micromovements visible or audible beyond the straight line of motion. When I composed the piece, the fatal accident of Ayrton Senna came to my mind again and again – an accident which was shown on TV in slow motion again and again until it became unbearable. The fast motion of the car immediately before the crash into a concrete wall, a motion which was no longer purposeful but out of control and which had the car pulled to and fro and from side to side, was followed by that crash. In this extreme slow motion, it is no longer shown as a crash but as the fast telescoping of carbon fibre, metal and human body parts. After this crash, as a postlude so to speak, everything suddenly slowed down, tyres and automotive particles floating in the air, the torso of the vehicle swinging until the motion stopped. It was not until this moment that I realized that the whole presentation of the incident had been accompanied by paralyzing silence. - Thomas LarcherVier Seiten is a response to Ayrton Senna’s fatal car accident, portrayed in slow motion, as it was repeatedly shown on television at the time. In this poignant work, a violent fast section represents the crash, followed by a long epilogue, reflecting the apparent stillness of the immediate aftermath.

Written in the key of B flat it would be helpful to know the two octave scale. However, if it is too challenging, you can always feel free to bring the upper notes down an octave. Duration: 00:03:01A Semita in Umbra is Latin for A Shadow's Path. When listening to this piece I imagine how a  shadow traipse behind it's person; and how it'll disappear in an instant when the light has gone. This piece make me think of Peter Pan's shadow specifcally trying to remove himself from the boy,  and tip toe away into the night. Although the audience may think that Peter Pan's shadow should have a more light-hearted tune. I think the opposite, I like to think of it has more of a lament; Peter Pan's  shadow has tried countless times to escape and has never succeeded. The shadow  has lost count of how many times he's tried to set himself free, and is rapidly losing hope.  All he can do for some resemblance of freedom is fade away when light is no longer around.
