Cello Solo - Level 2 - SKU: A0.800213 Composed by Charles Wright and Kevin Rhoads. Arranged by Samantha J Bramley - stringspirational@gmail.com. Contemporary. Individual part. 9 pages. Samantha Bramley #5213817. Published by Samantha Bramley (A0.800213). I Will Look After You – Aron Wright This haunting little melody was made famous in the UK by virtue of its use in a TV ad for a well-known bank featuring a black horse and its foal. My arrangement of for four ‘cellos has been written with 3 soloists and a ‘continuo’ in mind. None of the parts go beyond 4th position (with the exception of harmonics), so the challenge is to be found in the musical interpretation & ensemble playing aspects. Some close harmonies make good intonation essential. There is also rhythmic interest in the syncopated vocal line. It is written solely in bass clef and lasts approximately two and a half minutes. Note from the arranger: All my arrangements for ‘cello quartet, quintet and sextet are conceived specifically with the range and technical capabilities of the ‘cello in mind – no simple transpositions or re-orchestrations of string quartet scores. They are therefore both easily playable and enjoyable by any intermediate to advanced ‘cello ensemble. Most parts do not go beyond 4th position, making them equally suitable for student, mixed ability groups or ‘cello choirs. A complete score and set of parts is included. Enjoy and feel free to email comments or request for other works to stringspirational@gmail.com or visit my website www.stringspirational.com to find out more.

Cello Solo - Level 3 - SKU: A0.588383 By The Beatles. By John Lennon, John Winston Lennon, Paul James Mccartney, and Paul McCartney. Arranged by David McKeown. Rock. Individual part. 3 pages. David McKeown #5319411. Published by David McKeown (A0.588383). When I’m Sixty-Four first appeared on the Beatles’ 1967 album, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. Despite the song’s appearance relatively late in the Beatles’ discography, it was one of the first songs that Paul McCartney wrote, at the age of 16. When the song was finally recorded in 1966, Paul McCartney felt it was too slow and turgid. George Martin simply solved the problem by speeding up the tape and raising the pitch by one semitone. This version of When I’m Sixty-Four is arranged in a suitable key and range for solo Cello. Piano/Guitar chords are also included above the stave.Musicians at an intermediate level will find this ideal for formal and informal concert performance. The overall performance time is around two and a half minutes. Cello Solo - Level 2 - SKU: A0.596489 Composed by Juan MarÃa Solare. 20th Century,Contemporary,Standards,World. Individual part. 12 pages. Juan Maria Solare #3088085. Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.596489). Paregamutiún (Friendship): Four melodies of Armenian connotations for cello solo.I am not Armenian, but these melodies could be: it is an invented folklore. Nevertheless, I never wanted to compose an imitation of real Armenian music; for that I should live in Armenia a few years, learn the language, soak in a couple of millennia of culture and impregnate myself with the current problems. And yet it would be doubtful that the result would sound authentic. Neither I was interested in composing some sounding touristic postcards. These melodies reflect, yes, how a thankful being sees the Armenian from outside. And this is what grants them legitimacy.About the titles:The general title of the piece, Paregamutiún, is translatable as friendship. Sometimes it is transliterated Baregamutyun (as a certain station of the subway in Yerevan). The single titles of each piece refers to a lake, a mountain, a mythical patriarch and a tree of Armenia:1) Sevanavank: Monastery of the Black Lake, founded in 874. The name Sevan means literally Black Van, referring to a lake called Van. It is said that long ago the Armenians came from areas next to the lake Van towards the lake Sevan, they noticed that its waters were dark, almost black, but they reminded them of the lake Van, and therefore called it black Van: Sevan.2) Hayk is the patriarch of the foundational myth of the Armenian nation, and the original name of the country (Hayastán: land of the Armenians); some sources affirm that he was great great grandson or great-great-great grandson of Noah.3) Dziranà Dzar: apricot tree, the Armenian national fruit. Dzar is tree and dzirán is apricot, the obvious phonetic similitude seems to underline a strong semantic proximity between both concepts. The letter Dz is a complex phoneme similar to a smooth th.4) Masis is the Armenian name of mount Ararat, where -according to the Bible- ended up Noah's Arch after the Flood (Genesis 8:4).www.JuanMariaSolare.com

Cello Solo - Level 4 - SKU: A0.547674 Composed by James M. Guthrie. Contemporary,Instructional. Individual part. 9 pages. Jmsgu3 #3031709. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.547674). Dardanus Variations for Solo Cello is a set of variations on a thematic fragment from Dardanus, a tragédie-lyrique by J.P. Rameau (1683-1764). Each variation depicts a different scene from the opera.I: Entrance of Dardanus: Son of Electra and JupiterII: King Teucer proposes the marriage of his daughter Iphise to King AnténorIII: King Anténor accepts Iphise to become his brideIV: Ismenor the Wizard introduces Iphise to DardanusV: Dardanus encounters the sea monsterVI: The Sea Monster creates havoc for King AnténorVII: Dardanus falls in love with IphiseVIII: Dardanus slays the Sea Monster, saving King Anténor's lifeIX: King Teucer and Dardanus make peaceX: King Teucer permits for Dardanus to marry IphiseXI: The Proposal of DardanusXII: Iphise rejects the proposalXIII: The Second Proposal of DardanusIXV: Wedding Dance Dardanus is connected to the Trojan War through his lineage and the founding of the royal house of Troy. The Dardanoi, the descendants of Dardanus, formed a contingent among Troy's allies in the Trojan War. The House of Dardanus, of which Dardanus was the founder, played a significant role in the lead-up to the war. The city of Troy, founded by Dardanus's descendant, Ilus, was central to the myths surrounding the Trojan War. Additionally, Aeneas, a prominent figure in the Trojan War, was referred to as a Dardanian and was destined to save the House of Dardanus from extinction. Therefore, Dardanus's lineage and the founding of Troy are the critical connections between Dardanus and the Trojan War.Ancestry and Founder: Dardanus was the son of Zeus and the Pleiad Electra. He was the mythical founder of Dardania on the Hellespont and the ancestor of the Dardanians of the Troad and, through Aeneas, of the Romans.Migration and Settlement: According to mythology, Dardanus fled from Arcadia to the island of Samothrace and then to the Troad, where Teucer, the ruler of Phrygia, hospitably received him. He married Teucer's daughter Bateia and became the founder of the royal house of Troy.Family and Descendants: Dardanus married Chryse, with whom he fathered two sons, Idaeus and Deimas. He later married Batea and had several children, including Erichthonius, who became the ancestor of many famous individuals in the Troad, including Tros, Ganymede, Laomedon, and Priam.Cultural Depictions: Dardanus has been the subject of various operas by composers such as Jean-Philippe Rameau, Carl Stamitz, and Antonio Sacchini, reflecting the enduring influence of his mythological story.Legacy: Dardanus lives on in the Dardanelles, the narrow strait separating Asia and Europe, once known as the Hellespont, a name also linked to Greek mythology. These facts highlight Dardanus's role as a critical figure in the foundation of Dardania and the royal house of Troy and his rich and enduring mythological legacy.

Cello Solo - Level 1 - SKU: A0.1095693 Composed by Julie Munkholm Bruun. Blues,Classical,Rock. Individual part. 41 pages. Julie Munkholm Bruun #699675. Published by Julie Munkholm Bruun (A0.1095693). There's a new cello lesson book on the market! In this book I've turned the normal way of learning to play the cello upside down. With a little bit of creativity, and a lot of knowledge and understanding about how the instrument works - and how students learn - I have created this book. I hope you will love it just as much as I do, and that it will help you build a good foundation for your cello playing. FROM THE INTRODUCTION: This lesson book was created with a new perspective in mind. My hope is, that this way of learning, will make it easier to learn to play the cello. I have chosen to include a few chapters in the beginning of the book, where you will play on open strings. That will help you establish a good, basic understanding for how the cello should sound. It will also give you the opportunity to build up strength in the left hand slowly – and concentrate on getting a good, basic bowing technique. I have included small chapters with music theory, that I find important in order to understand how the instrument works. The cello doesn't have any keys or frets to help you play in tune, so knowing a few tips and tricks will help you tremendously. As opposed to most cello lesson books, the first finger you will learn to use here is the 4th finger. The 4th finger is your little finger and usually the least strong finger of them all. Starting with 4th finger has 2 very important advantages: • When you use the 4th finger – especially in the beginning – you will use the other 3 fingers to help push the string down into the fingerboard. That will help you establish a good, healthy hand position for the left hand. And when you start with 4th finger, using the other 3 fingers will feel so easy! • 4th finger in the first position is the same note (an octave higher) as the open string below. It gives you the opportunity to use the open string to know if you play in tune. Once you have gone through this book you should be able to play with the bow, by plucking the strings (pizzicato) and use 1st, 3rd and 4th finger on the left hand. That means that you should be able to play songs in G Major and D Major in one octave. The last few chapters include duets for two cellos. I have chosen to include the duets to make it more fun to play and to start developing the students ability play chamber music. It is wonderful to be able to play an instrument, and playing with other people adds an extra dimension to that. Love, live, play! Julie.
