"Escamas" was written for the PanAmerican Trio (Laurel Swinden, Brielle Frost and Sini Rueda) to be premiered at the 2018 National Flute Association Convention in Orlando, FL.

"Escamas" is Spanish for "fish scales". The work is inspired by the iconography of the Moche and Chimú civilizations, which dominated the northern coast of present-day Peru from the II. to the XII. centuries.

Specifically, I was inspired by depictions of sea creatures, both real and mythical, as well as depictions of maritime activities such as sailing and fishing. These depictions are mostly found on pottery, as well as on walls in archeological sites of the mentioned civilizations.

The work is scored for three C-Flutes.

This is a beautiful, playable arrangement for three flutes. You receive the score, the Flute 1, Flute 2 and Flute 3 parts. The sound clip is digitally produced.

This traditional American tune has been arranged for flute trio. All three flutes have a turn at playing the melody while the other two harmonize. The arrangement starts in G major then moves to C major. Ideal for middle and high school players and also in any church worship service where this hymn is used. The full score includes three individual parts and some slurring has been added to the score, but as always, the slurring is suggested and you can use tour discretion to achieve the musical result you desire. This popular American Christmas Spiritual is delightfully arranged for three flutes. The performance duration is two minutes and the full score has separate parts attached. Suitable for Middle and Senior High School music students as well as any church music group looking for new and imaginative Christmas holiday repertoire. Simple Gifts (with ?Shenandoah?) (Flute Trio) combines two beautiful, well-known melodies. The pieces are easily recognizable throughout.
