4 Irish Folksongs arranged by Charles Villiers Stanford and set for flute trio by John Gibson. Charles Stanford arranged many folksongs that he and others collected. This set comes from his "Songs of Erin" (1901) and is set for 3 Flutes. The tunes are : Trottin' to the Fair, At the Brink of the White Rock, Lost Light of My Eyes, and Leatherbags Donnell.

Johann Wilhelm Gabrielski (1791 - 1846) was a flutist in Berlin, and although he and his works are not as well-known, it is said that Friedrich Kuhlau - who most flutists today know of - dedicated his only flute quartet to Gabrielski.

This flute trio was originally written with most of the melody and interesting passages played by the 1st flute. I enjoy playing pieces that are a bit more equal among all players, so I re-arranged this piece in that manner.

This is a great recital piece.
