This is the very emotive "Solace" by Scott Joplin. Originally for piano, this arrangement is carefully scored for clarinet quartet (three Bb soprano clarinets and one Bb bass clarinet). This is a wonderful piece for both concert and contest. This is arranged within the comfortable playing range of the instruments, in a common keysign, with technical considerations worked out and with many useful rehearsal numbers for easy preparation. With attention to the rubato character of the piece, this is a highly expressive piece and very suitable for clarinet quartet.

This large collection consists of thirty-two clarinet quartets, playable on four B-flat clarinets, or four of any of the same type of clarinet. They may also be played on three B-flat clarinets, with the fourth clarinet part played on bass clarinet. This collection includes classical music from medieval to modern, as well as folk music.
