Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is the eighth studio album by the English rock band the Beatles. Released on 26 May 1967, it spent 27 weeks at number one on the Record Retailer chart in the United Kingdom and 15 weeks at number one on the Billboard Top LPs chart in the United States. It was lauded by critics for its innovations in songwriting, production and graphic design, for bridging a cultural divide between popular music and high art, and for reflecting the interests of contemporary youth and the counterculture. Its release was a defining moment in 1960s pop culture, heralding the Summer of Love, while the album's reception achieved full cultural legitimisation for pop music and recognition for the medium as a genuine art form. This is my arrangement of the opening number.for standard sax quartet: SATB I have transposed from the original key of G to F to aid the saxplayers.. I have created a new ending for those sax quartets who wish to play the piece on it's own, but also included the oruginal fade away ending which seques into the next track...with a little help.YouTube Vid is my brass quartet arrangement.

Frederick Joseph Ricketts (21 February 1881 – 15 May 1945) was an English composer of marches for band. Under the pen name Kenneth J. Alford, he composed marches which are considered to be great examples of the art. His march On the Quarter Deck was written in 1917 during the 1st World War to commemorate the Battle of Jutland. The quarter deck is the raised deck behind the main mast of a sailing ship; traditionally it was where the captain commanded his vessel and where the ship’s colours were kept. Woody Herman recorded this song with his second Herd on December 27,1947 for Columbia records. Jimmy Giuffre wrote it and arranged it based on the chord changes of Jeepers Creepers. It originally featured the reedsection: three tenors and one baritone saxophone. The order of solos was ZootSims, Serge Chaloff, Herbie Steward, and Stan Getz. All four played in thelight vibrato style of their idol, Lester Young. This arrangement is playable by either SATB or AATB Saxophone Quartet. Each voice gets a chance to solo. Look no further than the Snowdrift Galop written by British composer, Charles Coote Jnr. It starts off just like Jingle Bells - and the Jingle Bells theme keeps coming back, but is it actually Jingle Bells? It also has a march-like theme and a lovely Trio section. All players get to play important melodic material in this arrangement.Snowdrift Galop was published in London in 1868 in a small collection of works by various composers. The opening theme is immediately recognisable as the popular holiday favourite, Jingle Bells, which was published 11 years earlier, yet the composer gives no reference or credit to the earlier work. Although the opening soprano sax theme is the same as Jingle Bells, we get a stately march instead of the familiar Jingle Bells chorus. A lovely Trio introduces another new tune which is played by tenor, then baritone sax, before returning to the opening section on Alto.Charles Coote Jnr (1831-1916) was a prolific English composer of popular music, including quadrilles, waltzes and galops. His music was written for society balls and subsequently published for piano, so that others could play them at local dances or in their ownhomes. He was the son of composer and bandmaster, Charles Coote (1809-1880). Coote Snr worked for the 6th Duke of Devonshire for 30 years, conducted his private orchestra, and was referred to by the Duke as his personal pianist. Growing up in this environment would have ensured that Coote Jnr was well connected with British society.Duration - 4 minutes.

I originally heard this arrangement on a CD I purchased from the budget Christmas section. The CD had no band name on it. Doing some research I found that the band is Wordharmonic. The title of the CD is Light Jazz Christmas. The original hymn is in 7/4. This arrangement is mainly 4/4 with some 6/4, 2/4, and 3/4 measures. Duration = 4:11. This song was written during the protest years of the band Chicago. It was written in reply to the Vietnam War riots at the Democrat National Convention in Chicago on August 29, 1968. It was carried live on television at that time. The reason why I did this was because the news is predicting a repeat at the Democrat National Convention this year (2024). The DNC just happens to be in Chicago again and the riots are bring predicted, again, against a war, the Israeli-Hamas war. I am hoping this arrangement will help remind people of those days and, hopefully, stop the prediction. In the original key from the band Chicago's first double lp Chicago Transit Authority. It was the second song on the 4th side, following Prologue. Both Prologue and Someday used actual audio from the riots. Duration = 4:25.
