Woody Herman recorded this song with his second Herd on December 27,1947 for Columbia records. Jimmy Giuffre wrote it and arranged it based on the chord changes of Jeepers Creepers. It originally featured the reedsection: three tenors and one baritone saxophone. The order of solos was ZootSims, Serge Chaloff, Herbie Steward, and Stan Getz. All four played in thelight vibrato style of their idol, Lester Young. This arrangement is playable by either SATB or AATB Saxophone Quartet. Each voice gets a chance to solo. "Take Five" is a jazz standard composed by Paul Desmond and originally recorded by the Dave Brubeck Quartet for its 1959 album Time Out. Made at Columbia Records' 30th Street Studio in New York City on July 1, 1959, fully two years later it became an unlikely hit and the biggest-selling jazz single ever. Revived since in numerous movie and television soundtracks, the piece still receives significant radio airplay.

This arrangement for sax quartet (Bb Soprano, Eb Alto, Bb Tenor, Eb Baritone) includes two different keys: the original Eb Minor and a "more comfortable" F Minor.
