La Paloma - Spanish Habanera - Saxophone Quartet H - Arrangement: Thomas H. Graf
Quatuor de Saxophones: 4 saxophones
Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quartet Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Soprano Saxophone,Ten…
(+)
Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quartet Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Soprano Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.568938 Arranged by Thomas Graf. Contemporary. 25 pages. Thomas Graf - the-hit-factory.com #3430243. Published by Thomas Graf - the-hit-factory.com (A0.568938). La Paloma is a popular Spanish song that has been produced and reinterpreted in diverse cultures, settings, arrangements, and recordings over the last 140 years. The song was composed and written by the Spanish composer from the Basque region Sebastián Iradier (later Yradier) after he visited Cuba in 1861. Iradier may have composed La Paloma around 1863, just two years before he died in Spain in obscurity, never to learn how popular his song would become. La Paloma belongs to a genre of songs called Habaneras, a musical style developed in 19th-century Spain that is still today very much present in the form of folk songs and formal compositions, particularly in the Northern Basque Region and East Coast (Catalonia and Valencia) regions of the country. Like all Habaneras, its characteristic and distinct rhythm reflects the fusion of the local Cuban songs that the Spanish sailors of the time brought back with them from their travels to the island, with the rhythm structure of the flamenco tanguillo gaditano (original from Cádiz, Andalusia). Very quickly La Paloma became popular outside of Spain, particularly in Mexico, and soon spread around the world. In many places, including Afghanistan, Hawaii, the Philippines, Germany, Romania, Zanzibar, and Goa it gained the status of a quasi-folk song. Over the years the popularity of La Paloma has surged and receded periodically, but never subsided. It may be considered one of the first universal popular hits and has appealed to artists of diverse musical backgrounds.[1] There are more than one thousand versions of this song, and that together with Yesterday by the Beatles, is one of the most recorded songs in the history of music. Instrumentation: Soprano (Alto), Alto, Tenor, Baritone Listen to the recording - a challenge for your ensemble. Please don't forget to review your purchase - you will help other musicians to choose the perfect arrangement for their ensemble. Thank you very much! Johann Sebastian Bach/Wehage Goldberg Variations, BWV 988, - SATB saxophone Quartet, bari
Quatuor de Saxophones: 4 saxophones
Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quartet Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Soprano Saxophone,Ten…
(+)
Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quartet Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Soprano Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.532734 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Paul Wehage. Baroque. 21 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #1917. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.532734). The Aria with 30 variations which form the work which is known as the « Goldberg » variations is one of the greatest works of Bach. It is his only work which uses the form of variations and through three series of ten variations each, it explores a myriad of musical genres and styles. The initial Aria, which seems to be rather trite and banal at the beginning of the work, is magnified through these transformations and the da capo at the end brings us back to the beginning, which has been changed by the musical journey itself. As a sort of musical « initiation », it has become a work which sparks the imagination and which creates an atmosphere all it’s own. The story of how the work came to be written has to come to us through Bach’s first biographer, Johann Nikolaus Forkel in 1805, seventy-five years after the death of Bach. It would seem that a certain Count Keyserlingk, the Russian Ambassador to the Court of Dresden, had difficulty sleeping and asked Bach to compose a work which his protégé, a harpsichord virtuoso by the name of Goldberg, could play in a salon near his bedroom to help him sleep in the evening. For this commission, Bach was to receive the largest fee of his life, a hundred louis d’or in a golden goblet. It would seem that this story is perhaps more of a legend than anything else, as no goblet was found in Bach’s estate at the end of his life and no documented proof of this story has been found. Goldberg was indeed a student of C. P. E Bach, Bach’s son and the son might have asked his father to write these works for his brilliant student. No manuscript for the Goldberg Variations exists, only a first edition corrected in the hand of Bach which contains certain tempo indications and other markings. The first edition also carried the following title: « Clavierübung, consisting of an Aria with diverse variations for the Harpsichord with two manuals composed for music lovers to refresh their spirits by J. S. Bach ». In this version for Saxophone Quartet, it is important to remember that Bach was writing for the harpsichord and not for the Piano-forte. Bach did indeed know of the Piano-forte and played one of the first instruments produced, but it would seem that he did not care much for this new instrument. To find something akin to the precise, clearly defined attacks of the harpsichord, precise articulation and clarity of sound must be the first priority. In general, even in the slowest movements, the attacks must take precedent over all other elements of performance. If the need for clarity of line and precision of attack is respected, the inherent musicality contained in the work should be evident, even in this new form.. As Bach himself transcribed many of his own works and those of others, I would like to hope that he would find this question to be interesting and the results to be surprising...

As Bach himself transcribed many of his own works and those of others, I would like to hope that he would find this question to be interesting and the results to be surprising...

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quartet Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Soprano Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.532736 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Paul Wehage. Baroque,Standards. 21 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #1923. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.532736).

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quartet Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Soprano Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.876459 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Joe Procopio. Classical,Romantic Period. 24 pages. JoeCopio Music LLC #1900829. Published by JoeCopio Music LLC (A0.876459). THE BEETHOVEN DUETS By Joe Procopio The Beethoven Duets by Joe Procopio is a collection of duets that artist -composer Joe Procopio has adapted and arranged from the 9 Scherzi found in Ludwig van Beethoven’s 9 Symphonies. These duets are the first of their kind in history making them noteworthy, unique and valuable. Each Scherzo is published not only for Saxophone but also for many other orchestral instruments. They are published individually for each instrument; in a Three Volume Collection with 3 Scherzi in each volume; and in a Complete Collection containing all three volumes. They are also available as a CD. Volume One has Scherzo No.1, Scherzo No. 2 and Scherzo No.3. Volume Two has Scherzo No.4, Scherzo No 5 and Scherzo No.6. Volume Three has Scherzo No.7, Scherzo No.8 and Scherzo No.9. The Complete Collection has all 3 Volumes for each instrument with all 9 Scherzi. What’s more they will soon be published in the Procopio PlayAlong Music Program. This is an exclusive MP3 music audio program personally designed and developed in which Player 1 plays along with a music audio track for Player 2. To be sure, The Beethoven Scherzi Duets for Saxophone are a marvel of Beethoven’s skill with sections reaching the sublime. It is my deep felt personal belief that these Scherzi will bring you great pleasure and long lasting satisfaction. Joe Procopio AN INTRODUCTION TO THE BEETHOVEN DUETS By Joe Procopio Because of the complexities, range and sonorities inherent in all of the Beethoven Symphonies, it may seem impossible to transcribe any one movement as a duet that is true to the composer. Nevertheless, I believe these duets contain the heart, soul and essence of Beethoven’s melodies, rhythms and expressions; even though these works are tiny when they are compared to the Master’s great musical creations which have no equal. In fact, there is no comparison. However, my sincere hope is that since I have rendered some of Beethoven’s music as duets, his music is now more readily available to all permitting a greater number of musicians and all the people who hear their performances to come to know and love a bit of the world’s most valuable, breathtaking and beautiful music. In truth, Beethoven’s music has stood the test of time. He astonished people in his day whenever he performed his music or had his music played. He still does today. To be sure, his music has enhanced and enriched the lives of many of us for over 200 years. In performing and listening to these Scherzi you will find the whole of each work a marvel of Beethoven’s skill with sections reaching the sublime. Few composers have been able to write down on paper music of such incredible beauty that it reflects the awesome splendor of God’s creation. What comes to mind immediately is Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony No. 6. It has been said, that much of his music mirrors not only the magnificence of God’s creation but also the radiance of God the Creator himself. In any event, this music is simply amazing and awe-inspiring. A joy to listen to and to play. I know and can safely say without any hesitation or reservations that this collection will bring you much enjoyment.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quartet Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Soprano Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.876464 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Joe Procopio. Classical,Romantic Period. 10 pages. JoeCopio Music LLC #1900837. Published by JoeCopio Music LLC (A0.876464).

Tango for Glenn

Saxophone Quartet,Woodwind Ensemble Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Soprano Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1458779 Composed by Greg Woodward. 21st Century,Baroque,Celtic,Classical,Irish,Jazz. 14 pages. Greg Woodward #1037714. Published by Greg Woodward (A0.1458779). Tango for Glenn is a tribute to Glenn Gould, whose particular way of playing Bach on piano was so influential in its day. However, it's very much a joyful romp through a range of styles. (The original piece was for piano; this arrangement was made for the local Xyris Saxophone quartet, whose excellent performance is linked below. The original piano piece is also available for sale at Sheet Music Plus). The main theme is in 5/4 and it moves through a range of - mostly - irregular time-signatures, but uses a harmonic and melodic vocabluary strongly influenced by Bach, with lashings of some more jazzy language. There is a brief (two beat long) quote of Paul McCartney's song Blackbird used as thematic material in the second episode, the guitar part of which was also based on a piece by Bach. This would make a fun concert or encore piece.Visit my YouTube page for more performances, arrangements and compositions.

By Maryann Kennedy, Pam Rose, Pat Bunch, and Todd Cerney. Arranged by Jeff Tincher. Contemporary,Country,Film/TV. 16 pages. Jeff Tincher #1031284. Published by Jeff Tincher (A0.1451970). This is probably the most beautiful song ever written. I wasn't much on Country music until I heard this. The harmonies are so tight. This is the first single by Restless Heart that made it big. There was a show on RFD-TV called Larry's Country Diner (now it's The Best Of Larry's Country Diner). They have released songs from this hit variety series. This arrangement is from the release when Restless Heart appeared on the show. It's still as hot as it ever was. Duration = 4:47. Saxophone Quartet,Woodwind Ensemble Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Soprano Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.875875 Composed by Lew Pollack and Ray Gilbert. Arranged by Jim Fieldhouse. Jazz. 24 pages. Nefarious Music Publications #4595267. Published by Nefarious Music Publications (A0.875875). That's A Plenty was originally a piano rag written in 1914 by Lew Pollack but some time later, lyrics were added by Ray Gilbert. The tune soon became a very popular dixieland jazz standard. This arrangement was written for The Eclipse Saxophone Quartet in the UK and recorded on their 2001 album. It was meant very much as a tongue-in-cheek comedy vaudeville piece and proved very popular with both jazz and classical audiences. From an initial simple statement of the tune, this arrangement moves through several different styles, from bebop and show-two feel to an over-the-top waltz and becomes quite technically demanding in places. Enjoy all the saxophonic effects, such as note bends and glissandos, exaggerate the dynamic contrasts and keep the music sounding humorous, even in the more challenging sections.Standard S/A/T/B sax quartet scoringDifficulty Rating : AdvancedIf you enjoy this title please check out the other arrangements by this publisher at https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/publishers/nefarious-music-publications/11562Titles includeSummertime (in a latin funk style)My Funny Valentine (funky shuffle)Donna LeeManteca
