Wade in the Water was a popular instrumental hit in 1966 for the Ramsey Lewis Trio, which prompted further instrumental recordings by Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass, and Billy Preston (both 1967). The melody was used for the 1988 Tony! Toni! Toné! hit Little Walter.It was also used to warn slaves back then that a Slave Hunter or a Bounty Hunter was nearby and it was to warn them to go in the opposite direction.Wade in the Water, Children is a 2008 American Documentary directed and produced by Elizabeth Wood and Gabriel Nussbaum. It was filmed by a group of 8th grade students at the first school to reopen in New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The film offers a shockingly intimate look into life as a child in the ruined city. This jazz treatment of the tune is for four saxophones (SATB or AATB) and includes a full score.

The Liberty Bell for Saxophone Quartet (SATB or AATB)The Liberty Bell is ideal for any concert programmes that have an American, patriotic, or military focus. In the UK it will be a popular addition to Film & TV based programmes because of the march's use as the theme for Monty Python's Flying Circus.Sousa’s The Liberty Bell (March) for Military Band was published in 1893 and became an immediate hit. It was originally scored for: 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 bassoons, 4 horns, 2 trumpets, 3 trombones, tuba, timpani, cymbals, bass drum, snare drum, and strings. However, it is often performed today by a standard Military Band, consisting of woodwind, brass, and percussion sections. An abbreviated version of Liberty Bell was used as the theme tune for the British television comedy sketch show, Monty Python’s Flying Circus, which ran from 1969 to 1974.This arrangement for Sax Quartet consists of the whole March with its Trio section. The dynamic shaping is based on that used by The President’s Own Band, but these are mostly editorial so can be changed by the performers. The full length is 3 minutes 35 seconds, but there is an optional ending at 2 minutes 35 seconds.

This ballad by Bobby Scott and Bob Russell was a hit for The Hollies in 1969 and has been recorded by many other artists including Neil Diamond, The Osmonds and Rufus Wainwright (for the film Zoolander). It is a really well-known melody which many audiences would appreciate.Here it is arranged for saxophone quartet (soprano, alto, tenor, baritone) with an optional vocal part. The tune is mainly on the tenor part (so this can be substituted for the vocal part) but each other part has some of the melody too. It also includes an alto solo which can be played as written or improvised using the chord symbols. .

Swinging Shepherd Blues is a well-known tune by Moe Koffman, originally titled Blues a la Canadiana and renamed Swinging (or 'Swingin') Shepherd Blues in l957 when it was recorded by the composer, playing the flute, for the LP Hot and Cool Sax. Released as a single (Jubilee 5311), it was a hit internationally (Billboard magazine recorded it as peaking at 23rd position in 1958).  Among more than 300 recordings of the tune are versions by Count Basie, Herbie Mann, Mantovani, and David Rose. A vocal rendition, with lyrics by Rhoda Roberts and Kenny Jacobson, has been recorded by Ella Fitzgerald, and more recently by Natalie Cole. The tune has also been recorded by various Canadians, from Oscar Peterson to the Edmonton Youth Orchestra. Koffman used Swinging Shepherd Blues as his signature tune until 2000. Michel Mauléart Monton, an American-born pianist with a Haitian father and American mother composed music for the poem in 1893, appropriating some French and Caribbean fragments to create his tune. The song Choucoune was first performed in Port-au-Prince on 14 May , 1893. It became a popular méringue lente (slow méringue) in Haiti, and was played prominently during the bicentennial celebrations in Port-au-Prince in 1949. Its popularity as a piece of light music and as a theme tune was further enhanced when lyrics were added in English and in several other European Languages.
