Thus, it is the basis for a variety of arrangements, contra facts, and improvisations. The audio sample is a jazz quartet: An iReal Pro swing accompaniment combined with my tune from Finale PrintMusic.Wait It Out (Alternate Version), and Wait It Out (Rock Version) are also for sale on this web site. The alternate version is also a swing -- same tune with different harmonization. The March 2020 Covid-19 influenza scare is the subject of Wait It Out. The lyrics express an individual’s efforts to cope with being isolated, away from friends – social distancing to discourage the spread of the flu. I wrote this tune in the Locrian mode, which conveys a sad, surreal mood associated with self-isolation. The coda brightens the mood with a change to Ionian (major) mode.Here are the lyrics:Wait It Out1. I’m not having fun home alone. I’m chewing my nails to the bone. I don’t pretend to comprehend. I’ll just wait it out to the end. 2. Well, I just want to sit, drink and eat, But going on line is a treat. And I know this much, we’ll stay in touch! Waiting this out to the end. ORIGINAL MUSIC FOR JAZZ QUARTET This work is from series of 6 related pieces of new music that I have composed and arranged for a new Originals quartet that had its debut on Tuesday March 28 as the final concert of the 2023 season of the long running noontime spring jazz series at the Midwest Trust Center in the Kansas City metropolitan area. The music is written and arranged for a modern jazz quartet. I perform on alto saxophone with the multi-talented William Crain on piano, the master bassist Gerald Spaits, and the brilliant young drummer Morgan Rogers. The mockup audio demos posted are among the first set of compositions written for our group. I actually wrote and arranged all of this music with each of these quartet musicians’ artistry in mind and to record an album. However, I truly welcome other ensembles to perform and program these selections of music too.THIS MUSIC IS BASED UPON THE PHILOSOPHY OF ABUNDANCE (COVEY)Scarcity Mentality is the zero-sum paradigm of life. People with a Scarcity Mentality have a very difficult time sharing recognition and credit, power or profit – even with those who help in the production. They also have a very hard time being genuinely happy for the successes of other people – even, and sometimes especially, members of their own family or close friends and associates. Conversely, Abundance Mentality flows out of a deep inner sense of personal worth and security. It is the paradigm that there is plenty out there and enough to spare for everybody. It results in sharing of prestige, of recognition, of profits, of decision making. This is a great tune and setting and the piece has a some distinct harmony and 2 page arrangement is challenging but not overly so, and well worth the effort to learn. Fun tune to learn and improvise over. I used it in church for a prelude.

More recently, the song has found renewed popularity due to its use in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s “Avengers†movies. This arrangement takes its cue from the recording by Harry James and his orchestra, and reworks the performance as presented here for Vocal soloist, 3 horns, and Rhythm section. You want your concerts to be well visited and to help you with that, I make arrangements (and compositions) for trombonequartet with guitar, piano, bass and drums. They also contain an optional bass-trombone/ tuba part and sometimes a solo part. This one contains a trombone solo part. This arrangement of A Whole New World, is scored for Solo Trombone in front of the ensemble mentioned above. There are two solo parts in the set. One high and and one low. You can combine those two if that makes you more comfortable. Durata: 3,5 minutes (approx.) The song itself is about Alladin taking Jasmine on a ride on the magic carpet. The lyrics are all about discovering what you didn’t know about and be grateful for all the adventures life gives. This makes it a perfect piece to play in a variety of places, like weddings, celebrations of any kind, graduations, not to mention many types of concerts. With a few adjustments you can also use parts of this arrangement and make it work. It’s most powerful when you use the whole band, but it still makes a lot of sense if you have to skip some of the parts. There are so many times I have had to skip a piece in a concert, using a not as good substitute, because we didn’t have the people to play it. This bossa nova is inspired by Eduardo Arolasâ??s never-published tango, Volcán (Volcano). At least itâ??s never been published according to the todotango.com web site. Eduardo Arolas is a famous tango composer who is well documented on that web site. Also on that web site, you can listen to Osvaldo Requenaâ??s piano performance of Volcán from Arolasâ??s original piano sheets (written circa 1917). Years ago, I developed and wrote a tango quintet arrangement of Volcán by listening carefully to Requenaâ??s recorded piano performance on the web site. My quintet arrangement, in turn, was my source for writing this bossa nova arrangement. So, now Volcán has finally been published, but as a bossa nova! Wherever Señor Arolas may be, I hope he understands. In this bossa nova arrangement, I believe I've preserved the spirit of Arolas's original tango.Without knowing exactly what was in Eduardo Arolas's mind when he wrote the original tango, this is my personal idea of the message behind the music:Introduction: Let me tell you a story about a volcano that happened long ago.Part A (bars 5-20): It's a sad tale about human helplessness and suffering in the face of natural catastrophe.Part B (bars 21-36): The people living in a town below a volcanic peak were going about business, leisure, and play, experiencing the ordinary cares and pleasures of life.Part C (bars 41-52): One day, without warning, the volcano erupted, with smoke, falling hot rocks and ash, and hot lava flows. Some folks got away, but others were killed, buried or injured, and all that was left of the town was devastation, suffering, and, eventually, calm.Part A' (bars 53-end): A sad tale, but may we learn from it, and may the souls of the poor victims rest in peace.If you listen to and read the lyrics of Arolas's great tango, La Cachila, or listen to another superb tango of his, El Marne, you will witness further his talent and skill in composing dramatic music. This ballad had its debut in the classic film White Christmas with Bing Crosby and Rosemary Clooney.This arrangement was written as a Head chart where, after the initial rundown of the melody, the form is repeated for as many soloists as are desired before a final repeat playing the tune and proceeding to the second ending. Chord changes are provided in all parts for flexibility in soloist selection. For the most part, the ensemble parts are accessible to a broad range of playing abilities, but the top part is the greater challenge for range and melodic lyricism.Performance options: This ballad runs the risk of dragging along so slowly that it feels interminable. Even at a moderately slow tempo, it’s important to keep things moving. If it feels that the solo section takes too long, it also works well to bring the ensemble back at the B section of the melody (meas. 21) for a briefer wrap up.

People with a Scarcity Mentality have a very difficult time sharing recognition and credit, power or profit – even with those who help in the production. They also have a very hard time being genuinely happy for the successes of other people – even, and sometimes especially, members of their own family or close friends and associates. Conversely, Abundance Mentality flows out of a deep inner sense of personal worth and security. ORIGINAL MUSIC FOR JAZZ QUARTET This work is from series of 6 related pieces of new music that I have composed and arranged for a new Originals quartet that had its debut on Tuesday March 28 as the final concert of the 2023 season of the long running noontime spring jazz series at the Midwest Trust Center in the Kansas City metropolitan area. The music is written and arranged for a modern jazz quartet. I perform on alto saxophone with the multi-talented William Crain on piano, the master bassist Gerald Spaits, and the brilliant young drummer Morgan Rogers. The mockup audio demos posted are among the first set of compositions written for our group. I actually wrote and arranged all of this music with each of these quartet musicians’ artistry in mind and to record an album. However, I truly welcome other ensembles to perform and program these selections of music too.THIS MUSIC IS BASED UPON THE PHILOSOPHY OF ABUNDANCE (COVEY)Scarcity Mentality is the zero-sum paradigm of life. People with a Scarcity Mentality have a very difficult time sharing recognition and credit, power or profit – even with those who help in the production. They also have a very hard time being genuinely happy for the successes of other people – even, and sometimes especially, members of their own family or close friends and associates. Conversely, Abundance Mentality flows out of a deep inner sense of personal worth and security. It is the paradigm that there is plenty out there and enough to spare for everybody. It results in sharing of prestige, of recognition, of profits, of decision making.
