Most are in the keys of G and D major and have two or three pedal/lever changes. Although most are for harp with melody instrument, some have solo harp versions as well. Solos are simply elegant with intermediate type counting and pedal changes. These are perfect for soft wedding music or other such performances. The harmonies are elegant and absolutely beautiful. Songs for the Midnight Sun comprises fifteen Nordic folk melodies, dance tunes, songs and ballads that have captured the arranger's imagination over the years. For Beth Kolle, Scandinavian music is the expression of the unparalleled beauty of the Nordic countries. The exotically different modes and harmonies evoke wild nature, and unseen beings of the ancient folk beliefs. This is music meant to be sung, danced to, or crooned to sleepy children, preferably in an age-old log cabin redolent of sweet, mellow resin and many years of comforting fires. As with all her other books, these arrangements are meant to be adjusted to your own playing style. Use them as a stepping-off point for making the arrangement your own, or use some of my ideas in a different song. Consider yourself warned: many Scandinavian tunes are addictive and tend to roll around in your head. The cure for that, of course, is to find another tune to replace the one in your head. Published by Afghan Press Music for the Harp (A0.797323). We loved this piece! It is inspired and inspiring, a beautiful composition written to honor Linda's friend. In the key of D in 4/4 time, majestic sounding and at the same time contemplative. Score is four pages, neither part is difficult. Harp starts with whole note chords, moving to half notes, and then a good blend of rhythmic variance to the end. Flute part is a beautiful compliment to the harp, both parts interweaving melody and harmony. There are no accidentals, and the lowest note in the harp part is low D. From Mary Radspinner: I have used this music at a wedding, playing with a very good violin player.

We have played through each of these arrangements using pedal and lever harp, and melodica, recorder and even humming. The arrangements are well done, with independence and interest in both parts. Well edited with lever changes indicated. Fingerings are not included; however, there are no tricky passages. Additionally, Amazing Grace is arranged as a lovely harp solo. Serenade was adopted from a that I composed for guitar i a graduate class whilst I studied at Eastern Michigan University. We were studying compositional techniques and style in the Romantic Period. The piece has different tonal centers involving many modulations (D minor - Db Major- D mnor - D Major - F Major - D minor) all flawlessly seamed into one work . It's Counterpoint has hemiola, 3:2, rhythmical figures and 'arpeggiation' of the harp, broken chords versus dissonant Major Second Intervals lends a 'blurry' effect, a diffusion of sound. This work should be enjoyable to the listeners as well to the performers.
