Serenade was adopted from a that I composed for guitar i a graduate class whilst I studied at Eastern Michigan University. We were studying compositional techniques and style in the Romantic Period. The piece has different tonal centers involving many modulations (D minor - Db Major- D mnor - D Major - F Major - D minor) all flawlessly seamed into one work . It's Counterpoint has hemiola, 3:2, rhythmical figures and 'arpeggiation' of the harp, broken chords versus dissonant Major Second Intervals lends a 'blurry' effect, a diffusion of sound. This work should be enjoyable to the listeners as well to the performers.

Afghan Press Music for the Harp #4884163. Published by Afghan Press Music for the Harp (A0.797476). Lutenist Jane Pickering was associated with the court of Henry, Prince of Wales. This piece is from her notebook. Arranged in several ways for harps in various combinations: HARP DUET with 2 equally challenging parts; HARP TRIO with harps 1 and 2 in treble clef only, with some lever changes, and harp 3 as a two- handed accompaniment part. A score is also included for study or conducting. DUET FOR HARP AND OTHER TREBLE INSTRUMENT (i.e. flute, violin or recorder), for pedal or lever harp. The Harp 1 part from the Trio version may also be used as the solo instrument with this version. The music assumes the range of the harp to be from C below middle C to the C above treble clef, and is suitable for most 26-string models with levers on C, F and G. There is a high B-flat that can be tuned ahead or preset with levers if you have them. The parts are of varying difficulty to accommodate the wide range of harp playing and reading abilities. All pedal notations will be found below the staff, and lever changes indicated by diamond-shaped notes.

Published by Afghan Press Music for the Harp (A0.797323). We loved this piece! It is inspired and inspiring, a beautiful composition written to honor Linda's friend. In the key of D in 4/4 time, majestic sounding and at the same time contemplative. Score is four pages, neither part is difficult. Harp starts with whole note chords, moving to half notes, and then a good blend of rhythmic variance to the end. Flute part is a beautiful compliment to the harp, both parts interweaving melody and harmony. There are no accidentals, and the lowest note in the harp part is low D. From Mary Radspinner: I have used this music at a wedding, playing with a very good violin player.

Published by Afghan Press Music for the Harp (A0.797295). Welsh airs used in this publication were collected by Edward Jones (1751-1824), harper to King George IV. Jones was a prolific collector and arranger of melodies and is best remembered for his three-volume work called Musical and Poetical Relicks of the Welsh Bards (1784-1802). The order of the music facilitates playing 2-4 tunes in succession as a Welsh medley. All tunes were typeset to fit exactly on two facing pages to eliminate any page turns within a piece. Some melodies were transposed from their original keys to better suit the range of the flute. Tunes may be taken up the octave where desired, such as on repeated sections. The harp range needed to play all of the accompaniments in this collection exactly as written is only 26 strings (C-G). There are no lever changes within pieces in this entire collection, only lever pre-sets.
