It is usually played at wedding receptions, parties, parades and at the end of a jazz funeral. The song is based on a simple 12-bar blues form and has a very singable melody. Before the melody starts, Soprano Sax (Opt. Alto Sax) plays a loud, high call to which the crowd responds, Hey! The group then proceeds to play the melody while second line parade festivities ensue.This arrangement, written at the Advanced / Intermediate level for Sax Quintet, is a fun and easy to perform tune for students or professionals. This haunting piece of music from Beethoven's 7th Symphony has been carefully abridged and arranged for a standard Wind Quintet (Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Horn in F and Bassoon). It is sympathetic to the original music and should be easily accessible for intermediate to advanced players. Alternative parts for Horn and Bassoon are also included for non standard ensembles on Tenor Horn in Eb and Bass Clarinet respectively. There is also an optional percussion part on Timpani (A & E) that can easily be played on old fashioned hand tuned instruments, and will lend a bit more gravitas to any performance. The piece is very musically satisfying to play and will sit well on any concert or recital programme. The duration of the piece is about 4:50 minutes. The PDF is 28 pages long (A4 portrait) containing a full score and parts. Printing guidance - Score (pages1-13 print A4 double sided), all parts p14-28 (with the exception of Timpani p28) are designed to fit 2 x A4 pages on A3). This massive hit by Roy Orbison and Bill Dees has been carefully arranged for standard Wind Quintet (Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Horn in F and Bassoon) plus optional percussion.  With school and amateur ensembles in mind, this arrangement is designed for intermediate players and above.  Percussion (Drum Kit or  Cajon) can be added for additional colour if desired, but is not essential for a convincing performance.  The music is faithful in spirit to the original, with everyone having their moments in the spotlight as themes are shared by the players across the ensemble.  The PDF is 22 pages in length (portrait A4) and includes a score and parts plus optional percussion, with additional parts for Horn in Eb and Bass Clarinet to allow substitution of the Horn and Bassoon for non standard ensembles if required. The duration of the piece is about 2.20 minutes.  Look out for other instrumental versions by the same publisher for Saxophone, Clarinet and Brass Quintets.
