In this arrangement the flute has the leading role, of course, but it is not automatically doubled in the oboe, as is often the case in other arrangements. Where possible, the arranger has tried to expand the color palette, without losing sight of playability. I have attempted to avoid the semiquaver accompanimnent of Bach’s prelude being given to one player: i have spread it between the bassoon horn clarinet and flute. The tune is mainly on oboe but other instruments take the melody on occaison. There are 2 verses.
