Arranged wind quintet The six Kinderstücke, Op 72, along with the separate Andante in E flat major and Sostenuto in F major, were written in 1842 for the children of F W Benecke, a London wool merchant who was the uncle of Mendelssohn’s wife, Cécile (née Jeanrenaud). Exhibiting distinctive characteristics of the Lieder ohne Worte (treble song-like melodies and ternary ABA forms, for example), these pieces belong as well to the category of children’s music, in the tradition, say, of Schumann’s Klavieralbum für die Jugend and Bizet’s later Jeux d’enfants, and evince a naive innocence reflective of their intended audience. Of the eight, Mendelssohn ultimately chose six to shape into Op 72, the last work he saw through the press. It appeared in December 1847, one month after his death, and in England with the designation of ‘Christmas pieces’. This is my arrangement of No.6 Vivace My mp3 tempo dotted crotchet = 56, which is still vivace enough, and the semi quaver runs are still playable by the woodwind!

His family moved to Paris, after Metz and part of Lorraine were annexed to Germany in 1871 following the Franco-Prussian War. He studied at the Paris Conservatoire, gaining first prizes for solfège, piano, organ, counterpoint and fugue. He won the French Prix de Rome in 1882, with his cantata Edith. His teachers included Antoine François Marmontel, Albert Lavignac, Émile Durand, César Franck (for the organ) and Jules Massenet (for composition).He succeeded César Franck as organist at Sainte-Clotilde Basilica in Paris from 1890 to 1898. He himself was succeeded by another distinguished Franck pupil, Charles Tournemire. Associated for many years with Édouard Colonne's concert series, the Concerts Colonne, from 1903, Pierné became chief conductor of this series in 1910.His most notable early performance was the world premiere of Igor Stravinsky's ballet The Firebird, at the Ballets Russes, Paris, on 25 June 1910. He remained in the post until 1933 (when Paul Paray took over his duties). Because of its caracter, It can work perfectly as an introduction piece or for a little surprise encore in the end of a concert. It is also very easy to play, very appropriate for music students and beginners. And of course righten by no other than Mozart it is the perfect piece for great artists and performers. The original score was written for the pianoforte. I did an arrangement for woodwind quintet and made an extent use of interpretation symbols like fortes and pianos, crescendos etc., wish where total absent in the original score. I also had to shorten the length of some notes in order to facilitate the interpretation of the piece on woodwind instruments. Otherwise all the original notes are left unchanged. The score was written on Finale. The sound file, was performed with samplers from Garritan and conceived as an audio support for the presentation of the score. They are a contemporary arrangement of movements from  the Five Wind Divertimentos for 3 basset horns, K. 439b which Mozart wrote in 1783.The Divertimentos are notable for their conciseness of form and their melodic richness. Each divertimento has 5 mvts They therefore make an excellent introduction to Mozart's piano music, even though they are not completely typical of Mozart's piano writing. We do not know for certain who made the arrangement, but Alexander Weinmann has shown that it was probably Ferdinand Kauer. The order of movements is not the same as in the original; moreover, some of the Trios have been exchanged and recapitulations have been shortened in some instances.Thry are in varying keys, unlike the original divertimenti, so my arrangements reflect thus.This is my arrangement for wind quintet of No.6 in C major.The original 3 parts have been reallocated around the quintet, with some octave and harmony additions.I have added an original natural horn part for a more authentic Mozart sound.
