A selection of 3 Pieces: Gavotte, Gavotte Gracieuse and Pantomine.Clarinet part in Bb/AHorn Part in F/ALes petits riens (French for The Little Nothings) is a ballet in one act and three tableaux by Jean-Georges Noverre, with music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and other unknown composers, possibly including François-Joseph Gossec[citation needed], first performed at the Academie Royale de Music in Paris on 11 June 1778.While Mozart was staying in Paris, Noverre asked him to compose a new score for a ballet that he had created in Vienna in 1767. The ballet was to be danced as an interlude in the new opera Le finte gemelle by Niccolò Piccinni.[1] The opera was a flop and closed after four performances. Although the ballet music was well-received,[2] Mozart was not credited with it, and he was at the time little-known in Paris.This arrangement for wind quintetHorn parts are for natural horns in F and A.Clarinet in Bb/A.The score, catalogued as K. 299b, was thought lost, but it was rediscovered in the Paris Opera's archives in the late 19th century[1] and has since entered both the ballet and symphonic repertoire.

Arranged wind quintet.This music was used by Igor Stravinsky as a basis of the sixth movement (Gavotta) of the suite from his Neo Classical Ballet Pulcinella.The Pulcinella Suite was written for small chamber orchestra in 1922 But even though Stravinsky used Pergolesi's melodies and bass lines with little change, he managed to put his own unmistakable stamp on the music through his use of modern harmonies and occasional rhythmic modifications.My arrangement is of the the original piece.it uses Pergolesi's classical/baroque harmonies.I have added some harmony parts to itIt does not sound too dissimilar to Stravinsky's which sadly will be in copyright for many years.Check out my other arrangements of music used by Stravinsky in his Pulcinella Suite..

His teachers included Antoine François Marmontel, Albert Lavignac, Émile Durand, César Franck (for the organ) and Jules Massenet (for composition).He succeeded César Franck as organist at Sainte-Clotilde Basilica in Paris from 1890 to 1898. He himself was succeeded by another distinguished Franck pupil, Charles Tournemire. Associated for many years with Édouard Colonne's concert series, the Concerts Colonne, from 1903, Pierné became chief conductor of this series in 1910.His most notable early performance was the world premiere of Igor Stravinsky's ballet The Firebird, at the Ballets Russes, Paris, on 25 June 1910. He remained in the post until 1933 (when Paul Paray took over his duties). RayThompsonMusic #6370067. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.553962). Gabriel Pierné was born in Metz. His family moved to Paris, after Metz and part of Lorraine were annexed to Germany in 1871 following the Franco-Prussian War. He studied at the Paris Conservatoire, gaining first prizes for solfège, piano, organ, counterpoint and fugue. He won the French Prix de Rome in 1882, with his cantata Edith. His teachers included Antoine François Marmontel, Albert Lavignac, Émile Durand, César Franck (for the organ) and Jules Massenet (for composition).He succeeded César Franck as organist at Sainte-Clotilde Basilica in Paris from 1890 to 1898. He himself was succeeded by another distinguished Franck pupil, Charles Tournemire. Associated for many years with Édouard Colonne's concert series, the Concerts Colonne, from 1903, Pierné became chief conductor of this series in 1910.His most notable early performance was the world premiere of Igor Stravinsky's ballet The Firebird, at the Ballets Russes, Paris, on 25 June 1910. He remained in the post until 1933 (when Paul Paray took over his duties). Arranged wind quintetThe original baroque music used by Igor Stravinsky for his ballet Pulcinella was originally attributed to Giovanni Pergolesi, as they were so described in a Mr R. Bremner's original 1780 London publication. They were also arranged later by Hugo Riemann, and were again wrongly attributed to Giovanni Pergolesi.However most of the original music is by Domenico Gallo (including the Finale of the suite), one or two are by Giovanni Pergolesi (including the Menuetto)The Pulcinella Suite for small chamber orchestra and 3 vocalists which was derived from the ballet, was written in 1922 and has no vocal parts. This is the original music he used as the basis of the Sinfonia, Scherzino, Gavotte and Variations and the Minuetto/Finale in the Suite.But even though Stravinsky used Gallo's and Pergolesi's melodies and bass lines with little change in the earler movements of the Suite he managed to put his own unmistakable stamp on the music through his use of modern harmonies and occasional rhythmic modifications.However in the Menuetto and Finale he changes things considerably, with more dischordant harmonies and rhythm changes.My arrangement is of the the original pieces and uses Gallo's/Pergolesi's classical/baroque harmonies.Check out my other arrangements of other music used by Stravinsky in his Pulcinella Suite..
