Lyndon Smith Jr. #5892677. Published by Lyndon Smith Jr. (A0.1026125). This is an arrangement for woodwind quintet of Gabriel Fauré's piece Clair de lune from Deux mélodies, Op. 46. It is the second of this set of two songs. I scored the left hand part of the piano accompaniment for bassoon and horn in order to take pressure off of the bassoon player. A little harmony and counterpoint have been added to make this more suitable for a wind quintet and add some interest. This is a beautiful piece that I believe could be played by an intermediate ensemble.

RayThompsonMusic #14671. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.553214). Ravel originally wrote Ma mère l'Oye as a piano duet for the Godebski children, Mimi and Jean, ages 6 and 7. Ravel dedicated this work for four hands to the children (just as he had dedicated an earlier work, Sonatine, to their parents). Jeanne Leleu and Geneviève Durony. It bears the subtitle cinq pièces enfantines (five children's pieces). Ravel later orchestrated the piece.This is the second movement. I have arranged it for wind quintet. Looks easy to play, but requires accurate methodical playing by all 5 musicians.Other movements are available

Fifteen Hungarian Peasant Songs, Sz. 71, BB 79 is a collection of short folk melodies arranged for piano by Hungarian composer Bla Bartk. It was composed between 1914 and 1918. In 1933, Bartk adapted and orchestrated parts of the piece as Hungarian Peasant Songs, Sz. 100, BB 107, commonly known by its Hungarian name, Magyar parasztdalok([ˈmɒɟɒr ˈpɒrɒstˌdɒlok]).
My arrangement for standard wind quintet is based on the piano music.
The collection consists of fifteen movements, some of which are grouped together. A typical performance lasts 13?15 minutes. The movements in my arrangement are as follows:(7-14)

This selection, Burgundian Air/March of the Three Kings, has been arranged for a Woodwind Quintet, consisting of 1 Flute, 1 Oboe, 1 Clarinet, 1 French Horn and 1 Bassoon, by Regis Bookshar. It would be a great addition to any music library. It incorporates two Traditional French melodies into one exciting arrangement, which, I'm certain, will entertain both performers and audiences alike. It is suitable for high school and college students and is perfect for Christmas concerts and church services but could be performed anytime and anywhere. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (21 pages). It begins with a Burgundian Air, played by a solo instrument. The melody is then played by two instruments in harmony before the rest of the ensemble joins in. This is followed by the March of the Three Kings, a Provencal melody (La Marche Des Rois Mages) which dates from the 13th century and recalls the Three Kings of the Christmas story. The peasants probably sang and danced to this tune, even perhaps honoring their own folk heroes, the French dukes, dressed in their shining armor and carrying brilliant banners, as they marched off to the Crusades. Georges Bizet utilized this tune as a farandole, or stately dance, in his incidental music for Alphonse Daudet's play L'Arlesienne (The Girl from Arles). There is a fugal section in which each instrument enters, playing an embellished version of the tune before concluding the arrangement. Also available are other settings of these two Traditional French melodies for a variety of instrumental ensembles as well as numerous other arrangements in a variety of styles. The lyrics do not actually refer to Christmas or describe a decorated tree. Instead, they refer to the fir's evergreen quality as a symbol of constancy and faithfulness.In this arrangement of O Christmas Tree, Regis Bookshar has kept the basic outline of this familiar song, but has inserted a short interlude, which brings to mind the sound of alphorns, or alpenhorns, instruments which may be made from red pine, or fir trees. and are used by mountain dwellers in the Bavarian Alps.
